What is Sex?

You are changing the meaning of sex in your conversation. Equivocation.

At the start "sex" means intercourse.

But later you redefine sex to mean everything surrounding attraction and romance.

Here is an example:
Humans need light to live.
Feathers are light.
Therefore humans need feathers to live.

Feels like a rhetorical trick.

Romance = connection, affection, attention, validation
Sex = physical act

They can overlap and do. But they aren't interchangeable.
You are hiding under a homonym

I think for purposes of erotica, the term "sex" should be understood broadly. It's whatever turns you on, or turns the reader on.

For a foot fetishist, "sex" could be covering your partner's toes in chocolate and licking it off. For a voyeur, it could be looking at a naked woman through a window. For an exhibitionist, it could be running naked down a public street. If these activities give sexual pleasure, then they can be considered "sex."
