I’m only laughing cuz Nikki Minaj has brought me embarrassment.

About 12/13 years ago I was able to meet my teenage legends the Cockney Rejects. Nicest guys. I was showing their singer, Stinky Turner, that I had every song of theirs downloaded on my phone. As I am scrolling thru my music library I pass by a Nicky Minaj song. (All of my fighters downloaded songs would wind up on my phone).

He was like (in his outrageously eastern London accent): “Nicky fookin Minaj, mate? You fookin kidddin me?

Me: my daughter’s music! It all downloads.

Him: hey lads, he’s got fookin Nikki Minaj songs on his phone! Nikki fookin Minaj!

Everyone laughs.

Me: (stammering) it was my daughter’s song, honest!

They took the piss. I was a bit embarrassed. But I did finally find and show them their entire music catalog had been ripped from vinyl to MP3. I think they’re were kinda impressed. (Maybe?).

They were actually the nicest guys. Took a shitload of pics with my wife and I and signed a bunch of 45s and LPs I had.

A friend of mine was the bass players cousin (Tony Frater) so we got backstage a lot of times in the 2011-15 timeframe.
