What pissed you off today?

2 weeks and I can't shake this freaking cold! It's letting me function but just:mad:
You are sick way too long indeed!! *HUGGS*

Colds and influensa are almost the same. I could be wrong, but see a doctor, H1N1 is very tricky. My sister-in-law's school, last May and June, average number of kid sick, 10 per class, or in a school of 410, 102 were sick every day.

Then again a garden variety cold, hell, I've had chest colds that have lasted up to six weeks, but then again I have ashmah, (spelling!?!) get phonemona easily.
Asthma. It would be smart to see a doctor, but if you have H1N1 you shouldn't be able to do anything but sweat and sleep.
*nods*

He should see a doctor, sweat and sleep!

It makes me sad he must work even when he feels shit! :(

My fire alarm going off for no good reason at a very inopportune time... grrrrr. I feel like I'm Phoebe in Friends at the moment in the episode with the fire alarm that just won't die. I've taken it down and took out the battery, which made it stop for about five minutes. Then it starts up again, magically, so I hunted down the backup battery and took that out. So far, so good, but man I wish I could chop that thing to bits!

Putting my dog into kennels so I can go and have a uterine D&C/biopsy at hospital under general anaesthetic tomorrow. I've put her in kennels cos of business trips dozens of times. No problem. This time it was REALLY hard to hand over the leash. I want my doggy back. :(

*big hugs*

I had to be mean and super strict with the guys I was testing today. I don't like getting that way with them, but if they'd just act like normal human beings I wouldn't have to. It was more like babysitting and telling them I'll go tell on them if they wouldn't pay attention, behave, and display some common courtesy to everyone else.

The common courtesy was the killer. How can you be so self centered, or just plain undisciplined, to not show the people who are instructing you, and trying to help you actually get the care you deserve, a little respect?

I put my back out today, so I'm crippled up like an old man, and I have two job interviews tomorrow. Oh my

This unit I'm working with is really getting to me. Why do people think it's acceptable to not show courtesy and respect to others, and that it's okay to damage other people's property? And in the military system, why in the world are their commanders letting them all get away with it? If I'm verbally threatened by one more soldier, I swear someone WILL pay.

And also, I don't so much like that I went to do a good long work out and came out of it feeling like I had my ass kicked, instead of being the one doing the ass kicking. At least the post-work out shower was fantastic. :D

My health, or current general lack of it, and the fact that unless I'm spiking 103º or so, or puking blood, or having another heart attack, I can't see my VA primary care physician (or any other physician) until 9/4 unless I want to pay cash out of pocket (that I don't have) and not get reimbursed for it. Oh, yeah, and that my antidepressant med prescription has run out of refills and I can't get *that* re-ordered until I see the PCP. Damnit, I need to win tonight's PowerBall - estimated for $250 million (annuity value over 30 years (I'm not going to live that long) or ~ $75M cash option after taxes). Sheesh - that's a quarter of a billion bux. Even the cash option should last me at least a few months...

Sigh.

New gov't study shows mercury in fish widespread

WASHINGTON – No fish can escape mercury pollution. That's the take-home message from a federal study of mercury contamination released Wednesday that tested fish from nearly 300 streams across the country.

The toxic substance was found in every fish sampled, a finding that underscores how widespread mercury pollution has become.

But while all fish had traces of contamination, only about a quarter had mercury levels exceeding what the Environmental Protection Agency says is safe for people eating average amounts of fish.

The study by the U.S. Geological Survey is the most comprehensive look to date at mercury in the nation's streams. From 1998 to 2005, scientists collected and tested more than a thousand fish, including bass, trout and catfish, from 291 streams nationwide.

"This science sends a clear message that our country must continue to confront pollution, restore our nation's waterways, and protect the public from potential health dangers," Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said in a statement.

Mercury consumed by eating fish can damage the nervous system and cause learning disabilities in developing fetuses and young children. The main source of mercury to most of the streams tested, according to the researchers, is emissions from coal-fired power plants. The mercury released from smokestacks here and abroad rains down into waterways, where natural processes convert it into methylmercury — a form that allows the toxin to wind its way up the food chain into fish.

Some of the highest levels in fish were detected in the remote blackwater streams along the coasts of the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana, where bacteria in surrounding forests and wetlands help in the conversion. The second-highest concentration of mercury was detected in largemouth bass from the North Fork of the Edisto River near Fairview Crossroads, S.C.

"Unfortunately, it's the case that almost any fish you test will have mercury now," said Andrew Rypel, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Mississippi who has studied mercury contamination in fish throughout the Southeast. He said other research has shown mercury in fish from isolated areas of Alaska and Canada, and species that live in the deep ocean.

Mercury was also found in high concentrations in western streams that drain areas mined for mercury and gold. The most contaminated sample came from smallmouth bass collected from the Carson River at Dayton, Nev., an area tainted with mercury from gold mining. At 58 other streams, mostly in the West, the acidic conditions created by mining could also be contributing to the mercury levels, the researchers said.

"Some ecosystems are more sensitive than others," said Barbara Scudder, the lead USGS scientist on the study.

All but two states — Alaska and Wyoming — have issued fish-consumption advisories because of mercury contamination. Some of the streams studied already had warnings.

"This is showing that the problem is much more widespread," said Sonya Lunder, a senior analyst for the Environmental Working Group, which has pushed for stronger advisories on consumption of mercury-laden fish and controls on the sources of mercury pollution. "If you are living in an area that doesn't have a mercury advisory, you should use caution."

Earlier this year, the Obama administration said it would begin crafting a new regulations to control mercury emissions from power plants after a federal appeals court threw out plans drafted by the Bush administration and favored by industry. *The Bush rule would have allowed power plants to buy and sell pollution credits, instead of requiring each plant to install equipment to reduce mercury pollution.* (Keroin's note: Yet one more reason to be glad he's gone)

The EPA also has also proposed a new regulation to clamp down on emissions of mercury from cement plants.

Drama.

Trying to help some someone, give them the information they asked for and then be wrongly accused of trying to take over their job because of drama.

*sighs*

Right now, even Stairway to Heaven is making me angry.

Stairway to Heaven shouldn't make anybody angry.

Fuck it, I'm joining Atrocitus.

What pisses me off; trying to get a warehouse job, secuity checks, and now credit reports! My nerves are a wreck, thank god I found this website, at least I can vent.
