Have you checked out the local language schools? I don't know which city you live in, but at least in Prague and Brno there are many language schools and not all of them require qualifications for teaching discussion classes and so on. And there are also many companies that have their phone operations stationed in the Czech republic. They always need people who speak fluent English and often there are no requirements for Czech language at all.

I've been in the same situation myself before, looking for work in the Czech republic without really knowing the language too well at that point, so I might be able to help you out.

Oh, please. Quite aside from the fact you're arguing against market forces, compare the contracts of some genuine superstar hockey players - AO, Crosby, Brodeur - to the superstars in other sports. Albert Pujols signed a contract for $100 million over seven years (just over $14.25 million, with a $16 million option year in 2011) and is poised to DOUBLE that. Peyton Manning? $99 million over seven years, and a $35 million signing bonus. Don't be suckered by the talk of him restructuring his contract - it may be restructured, but he's still getting it all. Kobe? $135 million over seven years, over $19 million per year.

Martin Brodeur, quite possibly the greatest goaltender in history, is making just over $5 million a year. A third of Pujols, a third of Manning, a quarter of Kobe. Alexander Ovechkin, in a contract described as "monstrous", signed with Washington in a deal that will pay him $124 million...over 13 years - less than Kobe for almost double the length.

So yeah. Picked the wrong sport to complain about, really.

Standing at Wal~Mart in the Electronics section trying to purchase a new Flip video camera and watching the store people ask the two "cool kids" standing next to me if they needed help and when they answered that they didnt need help, they walked off and went to lunch.

We stood there calling out, "excuse me" to many associates as they walked by until finally Malin had to follow one to the check out while they were carrying a TV to ask if he could please find someone to help us. If we didnt have things we needed for the baby, I would have left with a note taped to the display counter that they lost a sale.
