What song was #1?

Aww, come on, people! Show at least the titles, okay, so we don't have to wait on YouTube over and over and over again, especially if it's a song we already know we hate?

Perhaps because you are?

All I'll say is that Pat Boone had the top song when I was born. Though I never actually met Ben Franklin, sometimes it feels that it could have been possible.

Pat Boone. Hahahahahaha..... :D

Pat Boone. Hahahahahaha..... :D

Do you remember ever hearing anything by his daughter Debbie Boone? She had a hit song when I was in between grad school and real work. One morning my clock radio came on to the sound of Debbie Boone (which was odd, given the station it was tuned to) singing her obnoxious song, "You Light Up My Life," and then there was the sound of gunshot. The dj broke in saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is awful. Debbie Boone has just been shot! Debbie Boone has just been shot." That was one of the best wake-ups I've ever had. :D

Haha, thats funny. The radio is so uninteresting now for the most part. Luckily I know a few strongholds of hip on the radio dial...

Pardon the intrusion, BDSMers, but I love music threads.

Well, at least I did until I plugged in my birthdate and came up with this Snappy Ditty from Perry Como which was numero uno the day of my Pre-Cambrian birth.

No wonder few fossils exist from that era. It was too embarrassing to be imprinted in stone.

My high school graduation date was better: Sir Mick & the boys doing Brown Sugar. We're at least up to the Mesozoic there, I think. I can live with that.

Have to live with that, anyway.

The TWIST

I almost cut my wrists listening.
I thought my birth song was sad.

Jeazuz.

It was number one for something stupid like 6 weeks too. The mind boggles.

ETA: #1 on the day I joined lit was Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girl". I am shocked to say that I enjoyed the video.

Egads, what a bloody awful depressing song.
Oh my god. That should have been my birth song. LOL
It's so bad it's good.

I was sitting here listening to it giggling and thinking "wow this is atrocious"

Um I'm sorry? *snicker*
If you only knew. Mine is "Thanks for Everything" by Artie Shaw- and somebody asked "who is J Giles?".
<SNIP>
Now no one should feel old.:D
Oh no, the thing is that I actually know of J.Giles Band, and I was horrified when watching the video. It was more like "What? Seriously? But I REMEMBER that video. I'm not that young am I?"
Well no WONDER I love this song... #1 on my birthday was "Crimson & Clover" by Tommy James & the Shondells
Awesome.
Perhaps because you are?

Atrocious is the appropriate word for it. I think it stayed at #1 for as long as it did out of sympathy. People were hoping if they kept his song popular that he might cheer the fuck up and not write more godawful bad songs.

Maybe they kept it #1 for so long so that he wouldn't get all depressed and try to jump off that tower again.

eeek...the no. 1 song on my b-day was "Lady" by Kenny Rogers...suddenly i feel very, very old. :(

My birthday: "Every Breath You Take" by The Police

The day I joined Lit: "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston -- never heard it, but then again, this was only last year, and I stopped listening to new music sometime in the nineties unless it was a special recommendation.

My birth, Feb.6, 1967 - I'm A Believer by The Monkees. "Song fits, cause i am."

High school graduation, May 25, 1985 - Everything She Wants by Wham. "Back then, that was me."

Oldest sons birth - I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. "So true."

Youngest sons birth - Tha CrossRoads by Bones Thugs-N-Harmony. "That day started my divorce, but it was very well worth it. So the song was fitting."
