Whats every body reading?

Swallowing Darkness by Laurell K Hamilton

I'm disappointed to be honest :( the first half of the book is a bit of a chore to read through.

Not realy into her work, I rather read some silver moon stuff if I'm going to read bdsm fiction, or early Anne Rice.

I still like her stuff. Now she getting a bit more into story again, it's better too. Guilty Pleasures will always be one of my all time fav books.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I am reading

''Fuck it - the ultimate spiritual way'' by John C.Parkin (except I'm not and if the cap fits yadda yadda yadda)

and 'Friends Like These'', Danny Wallace. Though it will take some beating to better ''yes man'', for me anyway......one of my fave books. :)

Have to say I agree with FurryFury. I like her stuff, still religiously buy her books, and was so excited to find Swallowing Darkness in Borders a few days early. But with the Merry books she sometimes has a problem moving the storyline on in the first few chapters - which is what I found with this one.

I'm reading a collection of short stories by Dorothy Parker. She's very appropriate for how I'm feeling right now.

Just started Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, it's looking very promising.
One of the Blurbs "The sort of book Terry Pratchett might produce if he spent a month in a cell with Franz Kafka".
The last book of his which I read was american gods which was cracking. His graphic Novels Sandman are also very good.

Neverwhere is pretty decent but it doesn't beat american gods, that book was awesome... definitely in my top 50 books.

Have you read good omens which he wrote with Terry Pratchett? Very funny.

Just finnished it and was impressed very inventive, spooky, charming, funny and brutal.
My next read is Clive Barkers Colheart Canyon, which I purchased from the oxfam charity shop today. More of the same i think:)

eclipse by stephenie meyer because i have preteen girls reading the series.

and I just started the new bottoming book...because i always have so much to learn.

I usually have several books going. I just got my hot little hands on an ARC for Justine Larbaliester's new book, which is called Liar, and I am reading a comparative religions text on Pre-Abraham Religions that I picked up in a used book store (yes, I am a dork), and I just started J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Dark Lover was a bit rough around the edges, (lots of world building info going on) but once you hit the second one, it moves a lot easier once you start Lover Eternal. There is a lot of covert power exchange sex going on, until the fourth book, where it gets somewhat explicit. I am not there yet, though, I am halfway into Lover Eternal.

When I first read Dark Lover I thought hmm, another rip off vamp series. I could kick myself for making value judgements at the time. You are right, once you hit the second, it's a great series - although Rhage wasn't my fave.

Vishous' books is my favourite - that's when the power exchange becomes explicit.

It is weird, out of the books we have so far, Z is my favorite, but his book was the hardest for me to read. I find myself rereading Vishous more often. I think my favorite vamp is the Reverend, though we will have to see if that stands up in his book. Which is out in the US on April 28. I do not know when the Asian release date is, but I have a friend who is picking it up there and bringing it over for me in May.

I've just finished Guernica by Dave Boling which I enjoyed. Set during the spanish civil war its a story of love, family and hope. It is similar to Captain Corellis Mandolin which I also liked. Like CCM the book painted a beautiful landscape of where the book was set, the basque country. After reading this story I would love to visit some time. Pablo Picasso painted his most famous painting"guernica" after hearing about the atrocity which the german nazi condor legion committed on the ancient basque capital. The end is a wee bit unbeliveable but still put a smile on my face.

Rereading I shoud say, as I have read it before. lol

I just finished a YA book called The Compound. It was m'kay but felt YA. That means it felt only partly finished and not layered in story or characters.
