Whats every body reading?

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - C.S.Lewis, is the first book I remember reading.

I'm currently reading Phantom in the Night - Sherrilyn Kenyon with Dianna Love. Guns, explosions, terrorists and sex. :D Perfect.

Have you heard of Christopher Brookmyre? He writes some good stuff sometimes about terrorism(fiction). Funny too.

can't remember the first book.....probably somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe. Nope really can't recall.

I am reading The Alchemist at the moment and for something that is simply written in style, I am making a right meal of it lol:eek:

Why don't I find it easy?

Stick with it, its rewarding. It's a bit abstract sometimes so maybe thats why.

Yeah I will, definitely.

I think its more the way it is written/ the setting that I am trying to really like. But its just escaping me at the moment.

Trying to get into Minette Walters 'Disordered Minds'...don't think the book is a problem as such, more my use of energy fighting pain and the disturbance the theme causes to my psyche in that innocent people become the victim of gung ho corruption within the law/justice system. No wonder I have been having nightmares!

Right now I'm reading Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I was a bit sceptic at first because of the whole Biafra war-thing, didn't know if I was up for that. Anyway it is a beautifully written and captivating story revolving around two sisters. I'm hooked. :)

My first books were kid books on the bible or the bible itself.

After that came a series of biographies which was all our church and school library had in it. These were mostly white male great leaders but there was one on Abigail Adams that I really liked. For years after I thought I'd name any female child I had Abigail.

One day I was allowed into the public library. There I found these adorable books on mice. These were tiny books in the flavor of Ben and Me. The book I brought home was Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. My Dad hit the roof calling it and me terrible things because it was "evil" fiction.

:rose:

I read early and all the time, but the first books that come to mind are the Dick and Jane books and The Littles, by John Peterson. I read the LOTR trilogy in a week as part of a bet when I was around 11. I didn't get a lot out of it at the time.

I've heard of him, but never really picked up any of his books. I will add him to my list. Thanks, JD!

I just started Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Not exactly one I would normally read (since it is about vampires and such) but it actually has been pretty good so far.

I also just recently finished Absolute Fear by Lisa Jackson...interesting murder/mystery that centers around an abandoned mental hospital...lots of suprising twists but a lousy ending (IMO at least).

How are you finding it? I tried reading the first one and it didn't grab me :(

So far I think it's pretty good, and it have some interesting twist and turns that keep me reading.

I did read Labyrinth as well, and did find it a good read. I can't recall if it took me some time to get into it though.

Neuromancer by William Gibson. I love the first line "the sky above the port city was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel."

He's got a nice style, great pacing, and just enough imagery to give my mind things to play with.

After months of being told to buy them, I just purchased the whole Stephenie Meyer series, haven't started them yet. Good to have another recommendation though.

I read a few chapters and just couldn't get into it.

Is it geeky of me to get excited about the next book I'm reading? The Darker Side by Cody McFayden. This author is a crime god. Not quite up there with John Connolly for me just yet, but still a second on my list. I cannot wait to start it later!

Ok, I have a weakness for Clive Cussler and his semi piratical stories of the high seas, espionage and intrigue. :)

Currently I'm reading another Cussler novel. :)

Some of my faves of all time though are Frank Herberts Dune series. I love to explore the weird psychology of the characters.

I'm reading my tax assessment, it is a story with a happy ending.

Sorry, I'm total cheese. More cheese than a Pauly Shore movie. :D

I read a LOT of vamp fiction but I'm pretty particular about just which ones I read.

After hearing raves about Twilight I picked it up with some trepidation. It was a pretty good book even though it's a YA book. I wanted to know more. I've read three in the series so far. I like Jacob best of all the characters.

I picked this one up with the same weariness...mostly read it because all my friends absolutely adore it. I can't say that I think the writing is all that great...but there is something intriguing about it that keeps me coming back to it.

To be honest, I found Twilight so refreshing. I adored Edward. Got to love a man who knows there is no other woman for him than the one he's attracted too. Makes me believe in fairytales again.

I've just finished Faefever by Karen Marie Moning. It was darker, gritty and downright more scary than the last two. If you like urban fantasy/paranormal i implore you to read this series. I go through character obsessions (I'm a geek what can I say?! lol) but Jericho Barrons is pretty much top of my character list. Especially since he showed a Dominant side I've not seen before - it wasn't exactly sexual either. It was a whole lot deeper than that and it involved some pain (although it was implied not shown).

I'm now about to start New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.

Still reading Travel guides, they are all pretty dry, I wonder if Bill Bryson covered that neck o the woods?
Might take a coppy of Kaffka with me. When in rome etc

I started reading a wonderful little feelgood-book yesterday: Crescent by Diana Abu-Jaber.

It's about food, love, story-telling and home. It has a streak of overly romanticizing, but she does it in a charmingly poetic way, so so far I forgive her. :)

It makes me want to eat tabbouleh and go to a marketplace in old Babylon.

Mmm...

*goes to kitchen to make hoummos*
