Library

Went to the library today shockingly poor selection had to settle for the crow road by Iain Banks ,read it a few years back but its a fine read and it will make me homesick! Also got some pulp horror novel by a writer called Lilith Saintcrow(stupid name or what?) but i might be pleasantly surprised!

I have a recommendation for you, based on this post-

it's called Dream Weaver, by Jane Yolen.

It's a collection of short tales, written within the framework of a blind woman, a beggar, who waves pieces of cloth as she tells her stories- she spins her yarns, both figuratively and literally... and the stories are absolutely beautiful. They're very fairy-tale-ish, but have unabashed truth in them.

I remember reading it when I was a child- I'd checked it out from the library, and loved it... and then couldn't find it... I spent 10 years looking for it, and finally my sweetie found it.

I found another copy a while ago, and mailed it to someone I love... I think it is one of the deepest gifts I could give someone.
Thanks Doll I'll look into it ! That story reminds me of my favourite book it's called the good faeries of New York by a scottish writer called martin millar ,I owned a first edition signed copy (realy rare!) and I gave it to the mother of my god daughter cause good stories are meant to be shared !

I agree with you... while I can't bring myself to part with my copy, given to me by my honey, I buy up copies of this book wherever I find them, and give them to friends and family.

i just finished reading "The Collector" by John Knowles or Fowlkes, can't quite remember which. it was a very good, yummy, D/s-y book, involving blithe abduction and imprisonment of a young woman by a very lonely, very emotionally limited young man who was sort of an admirer from afar. however it was a bit disappointing in that it was very short on violence and completely devoid of rape (he felt such things were beneath him), although the situation practically begged for both.

My favourite bdsm writer is called Lori Anderson shes big on blackmail/humiliation/coercion and ultimate surrender ,horny stuff!

I've started Tall, Dark & Dead by Tate Hallaway. MaryJanice Davidson gave it a good review. I love her so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Yeah, I love her undead series.

Not long ago I read Many Bloody Returns. It had short stories (which I don't normally enjoy), one was by her and part of the undead series! There was also a Dresden Files one and a Sookie Stackhouse one as well!

I also put all the authors of other short stories I liked in that book on my list to be read.

Had a look at my Erich von gotha graphic novels forgot how horny they were! ; P

I love twisted and dark books (Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker and Gregory Maguire are 3 of my favorite authors).

Geek Love: A Novel - Katherine Dunn (one of my top 10s)
Fishboy - Mark Richard
The Tooth Fairy: A Novel - Graham Joyce
King Rat - China Mieville
Rule of the Bone: A Novel - Russell Banks

I use Goodreads to keep up with what I am reading and stuff I want to read. These days its the only way I remember recommendations...lol. If you decide to check Goodreads out, just message me and I will give you my page to add. Makes keeping track of what to grab next from the library or the bookstore much easier!

I'm reading "The First-Time Manager"

Thanks - I added it to my list. The reviews definitely made it clear I would probably enjoy it. :)

I'm also reading The Silmarillion, but I just started.
That's interupted by weekly torah readings.
I also peruse through an anthology I have occasionally. A collection of pieces by the greatest scientists in math, physics, and astronomy.
I rarely ever read fiction, I'm kind of a dork like that.

tried reading the Silmarillion when I was in my teens it was too much for me. David Gemmel is probably my favourite fantasy writer. Raymond E feist is ok too.

Fishboy - Mark Richard

I have that in hardcover, haven't read it in years, but I was looking at it on my shelf the other day and thinking "whatever became of Mark Richard??".

His collection of stories The Ice At The Bottom Of The World is actually better than the novel.

OP, check out John Fante.

I'm reading big books of theery and universal law....the good book...The Tempest....The Portable Jung....and getting back into Edgar Allan Poe and fairy tales.
