When Darkness Falls

The laughter had gone from her eyes and anger had taken hold.

"You do not point those silly weapons at me sir" she said to the red haired man and lunged at him. Her strength suprised even her as she leapt. Connecting with him, they were thrown back against the wall and she beared her once non existant fangs.

"You, put the guns down or this one becomes my dinner. You do not want to tempt me hunter. I am not the vampyre you seek. Do not suffer to continue this attack" turning to the other Detective she spoke again. Her voice had taken on an errie deep quality that forced her to almost growl.

"If you value what is left of your life Lady Detective you do not wish to meddle in business older than time itself." Cecillia's eyes were burning bright red. The struggles coming from this wounded hunter were great, and suddenly without warning she punched him square in the jaw hard enough to hear the bones rupture.

Dracius brought the sword, up close to his face in an age old salute before sheathing his weapon.

"I am most dificult to satisfy my dear, but while I am tempted, I do not wish to arouse the attention of those who seek me...yet." he smirked back at her. "Although we may yet dance again in the future."

In the next moment, he was serious, with no trace of amusement in his features.
"But I wish to know, are you willing to take the next step? Are you willing to join me Alexandria St. James?"

Becoming as serious as he she turned from him and lept easily back up onto the railing around the rooftop, her eyes staring out over the city she'd come to adore. She didn't really want to leave it and he offered her the chance to not only stay but to help make it possible to live without fear of slayers and hunters.

Turning back to him a slow smile curved her lips and she nodded, "Yes Dracius. I'm in."

"Yes Dracius. I'm in."

"Then come to me child." he said, almost fatherly. "Walk with me while I talk..." He turned away from the cityscape, walking aling the rooftop as Dria fell in next to him.
"There is a great game in progress, as I have said. I will not go into detail just yet, but there is a part for you to play in it."
"There are some among us, among my minions, who are my Watchers. My eyes and ears among the city and when it call for it, my voice and my will." He turned quickly, Dria nearly bunping into him as he did.

"I would place you above the 'commoners' among our kind, you will speak with my voice and I shall see with your eyes. You shall be seconded only to myself or to those who are my leutenants around my world and equal to other Watchers. Excell, and you shall go far. Fail me, and retribution shall follow swiftly, for you cannot be my voice and my will and be linked with failure. If you choose this path, then kneel before me and bear your wrist, for I shall need a portion of your blood for the ritual."

"I now ask you, Alexandria St. James, to become one of my chosen, to be one of my Watchers and bring my vision to fruition. I am generous with my rewards and as I succed, so shall you."

She'd listened as he spoke and could almost see the things he spoke of. He apparently had a grand design and while she couldn't quite see it she culd sense it there just out of her reach. It was his asking for her blood that made her pause. She'd never shared her blood with anyone, it was such an intimate thing! and would give him a link to her mind. If she did this she wouldn't be able to hide from him...he'd be able to find her anywhere.

"I now ask you, Alexandria St. James, to become one of my chosen, to be one of my Watchers and bring my vision to fruition. I am generous with my rewards and as I succed, so shall you."

As he succeeded...it didn't take a genius to know that if he failed it was likely she would end up on the end of some hunters stake but eventually death claimed them all. This at least seemed to offer the best hope to subvert that fate. Slowly she knelt before him and with only a slight hesitation she offered up her wrist to him so he could drink.

Dracius did not smile nor revel or any other such, trivial thing. Instead he spoke softly into the night. Dria recognized Latin words, but did not understand their meaning. Once she recognized her name, but little else. Finally Dracuis, still seemingly lost in the words he was speaking, siezed her wrist and nearly pulled her up off her knees as he brought her wrist up and bit deeply into her flesh. She gasped at the bite, then relaxed as the sweet eccstacy of the kiss settled into her being.

Moments ticked away and Dria became light headed before Dracuis finally released her. He had captured a bit of her blood in his left palm and dipping his fingers into the blood, he smeared it above and below his eyes, still speaking in Latin, or some other dead language. The then bit his own finger and traced a pattern on Dria's forhead as well. An odd buzzing filled her ears, droning out the city sounds around her and the chanting seemed to echo inside her head, swirling around and around. As he drew the symbol on her skin, it seemed to burn, sinking down and swirling around her eyeballs no matter how hard she closed them.

Dria finally became aware of the cool air on her face and the sounds of car horns and the buzz of neon lights in the distance. She was laying flat on her back and looking up at the stars as Dracius came into view looking down at her.

"It is done.....Watcher."

Seeing how neither Cecillia or the new arrival in white had attacked Dahmnall, Amelia had been confused about him getting aggressive with them. Which motivated her to tackle the man in white and draw her gun on Dahmnall.

She started to back up towards the other armed guy. He seemed to be at least a little sane.

Dria heard him chanting something in what she thought was latin but she couldn't be sure and she didn't really understand what he was saying. She gave a startled squeak when he practically yanked her to her feet and gasped at the sharp sting of his fangs sinking into her wrist. The sting was quickly swept away as ecstacy washed through her body. There was nothing headier than a vampires bite and with all the power that course through him his bite was exquisite indeed!

Gasping for breath and feeling slightly dizzy she was hardly aware that he'd released her until she felt his finger on her forhead. She could feel him tracing a pattern around her eyes and whimpered softly as her eyeballs began to burn, the burning combined with the way everything she heard seemed doubled had her gripping her head and she never even felt herself fall over.

When at last the noise stopped and she opened her eyes he was standing over her and she wasn't quite sure how she'd gotten stretched out on her back or how long she'd been that way.

"It is done.....Watcher."

Managing a weak smile she looked up at him and caught his gaze as she pushed herself upright and shook her head gently. She still felt lightheaded from his drinking from her but that would be easily taken care of.

"Remind me to ask for details the next time you use the word ritual. What exactly did you just do because let me tell you it hurt like hell."

Kyrev was rarely supprised. Truly, utterly supprised. This time proved to be one of them. The party had split into divisions, and it appeared that the most aggressive one was almost on his side. She was giving the orders, and seemed to have broken the armed man's jaw.

Standing up, he brushed down his suit. Damn shame getting it all dirty. It was itallian, and quite expensive. He loosened up his joints as if ready for a fight. "Now now, ladies and gentlemen. There really is no need for furthur violence"

"Remind me to ask for details the next time you use the word ritual. What exactly did you just do because let me tell you it hurt like hell."

Dracuis chuckled and leaned forward, whispering into her ear. "Magic." he said in an amused, semi-serious voice before pulling away. Seeing her expression his smile only increased.

"In the most simple terms, I have linked myself to you in a way. I can see what you see, know what you know. It has created a bond to your mind that I can channel through. It also let's me know where you are should I need to know."

Chuckling softly she nodded her understanding as she rose to her feet once more and felt the world tilt slightly. Just how much blood had he taken? It felt like quite a bit but perhaps that was just a side effect of the ritual.

"I thought it might be something like that. You know you gotta find a way to make that a little less jarring. It's entirely undignified to all but pass out from a little bloodletting," she said with a gentle laugh.

"Magic is not so common in the world today." Dracius explained. "It has different effects on some, but the ritual did what it needed to do."

"If you feed, it will ease the disorientation. You have already mentioned your clubs for that purpose although they have probably been cleared with the late hour. Still, there are plenty of mortals on the streets yet."

"Speaking of your clubs, it leads me to your first job. You mentioned a Hunter in the club tonight yes? Learn all you can about him, study him and note your findings. He is mortal and therefore foolish. He will reveal his weaknesses in time. Remember that you are a watcher, not a fighter. If he seeks you, be as elusive as the night which surrounds you, learn all you can and reveal as little as possible."

As he spoke of hte Hunter's weaknesses an image of the female cop passed through her mind along with the fact that the Hunter hadn't given chase when she'd left the bar. No he'd stayed behind to drink with the pretty cop. Thinking on it made a small smile curve her lips. He cared enough about the cop to give up a kill, they already knew one weakness.

"Elusive I can do Darius, it's part of how I've lived so long," she said with a smile.

This was going to be fun. Watching the Hunter, tracking his movements and seeing how often she could do so without his noticing.

"Elusive I can do Darius, it's part of how I've lived so long,"

Dracius nodded. "Then go child. There is much to do before we can win this game."

He kept watch as Dria gathered herself and departed, vanishing into the night. Dracius smiled after she departed but the smile faded as he took inventory of his ruined shirt and trenchcoat. Ah well, tonight had been a productive night, but he had much to do himself before setting with the dawn.

Setting off at a run, he sprang up and off the roof, coming to land, still running on another rooftop and so on.

There was still a game afoot, his game, and all would be swept into it eventually......

"Then go child. There is much to do before we can win this game."

Nodding Dria grabbed her purse and simply stepped off the edge of the roof. Dropping down into the alleyway between buildings she smiled softly to herself. It was odd knowing that if he chose he could see through her eyes. It meant she could never really trust she was alone in her own head ever again but that was an oddly comforting thought for some reason.

Brushing her clothes lightly she leaned against the building and waited. Within moment's a human walked passed and she reached out to draw him to her. Without a thought she tipped her head to his neck and drank deeply. She took more than she normally did but not enough to cause any permanent damage, and healed the wounds before releasing him and watching him stumble down the alleyway.

Heading back toward the Dragon she heard some sort of rukus and inched closer. Recognizing hte voice of the Hunter from the bar she hung back far enough that she wouldn't be detected but close enough to see what was going on.

"Violence breeds violence, new one. I am Cecillia by the way" her tone still agressive gave a familiar note of hello.

"Do you Detective know this man?" she asked pointing to the hunter she had pinned to the wall.

Dahmnall

"Take your filthy hands off me you vampyric bitch!" Dahmnall roared as he slammed his arms down on hers, breaking her hold and diving to the side to pick up his gun and sword. He stood and slammed his jaw back into place. "Thanks to one of your kind, I am stronger then you are lass!" he pointed the slugthrower and fired.

The slug hit Cecillia in the chest and rocked her backward. Shocked for a moment then smiling she laughed.

"Thanks to one of my kind? Dear dear sir, there are no MY kind for I am the only one. What is it you think I am? Dirty vampyre was it? I assure you, I am neither. But I am pissed. And a punishment for you I am sure I can find" she smiled as she raised a hand and sliced deep into the right side of his face and with an audible pop his eye.

In one quick motion, she turned and was staring the Detective in the face.

"I do not play games and do not wish to be played with" she said tossing aside the flesh in her fingers.

"I do however find a good trist amusing. What say you?" she smiled. Eyes still burning red, anger coursing her veins, she took a few steps to the new vampire in the white suite.

"A meal if you please?" she asked motioning to the hunters "or do we simply walk a better path and tonight let them live?"

Alaric

Surprised, my first reaction was to shoot, but she jumped too fast, and so I stepped back, both my guns still on the vampires. The female broke the man's jaw, I was not surprised, but what he did surprised me, as he threw her off I nodded to him, "you get her, I'll deal with the other abomination." Moving in front of the woman shielding her from the vampires, I fired a shot at the male one's shoulder, as he got up and said "I said . . . don't move." Keeping my guns level, one eye turned to look back at the lady "and you miss, stay behind me where I can protect you."

Dahmnall

Dahmnall drew his axe and leapt at the vampire woman, knocking her to the ground, slashing with his axe slashing her eye. "An eye for an eye bitch!" Dahmnall said, punching her repeatedly in the face with all his vampyric strength

Blow after blow, Cecillia stood there. Her eye was laying dead in the street. Now that pissed her off, she had worked so hard for those eyes. Sighing inwardly, she decided she would have to find another suitable doner.

Falling to the ground as if dead, she feined panic and cried out suddenly. This hunter was fierce. He was also very stupid. Being a hume, she was more immortal than the gods themselves. Laughing suddenly, she spoke./

"oh, please no" she said between bursts of laughter.

"Your killing me" she giggled.

Dahmnall

Why wont this bitch die? Dahmnall thought, drawing a knife from his belt he grabbed her hair and went to cut her throat.

Stopping her laugther, Cecillia saw the intended action.

"Do what you must hunter but remember, I am the GIFT." she saw the immediate understanding in his eyes as he stopped.

The gift was made by the One. She was the gift. Only the one could take her life. They all knew it. It was written. To take the gift before the One was to mean instant retribution in the harshest of forms. Tonight was no exception.

Dahmnall

THE GIFT?! Dahmnall had heard of it from his grandfather, but never understood. he leapt off the vampyre bitch "Hume or vampyre, whatever the fuck you are, leave now or i will end your life and deal with the consequences later." he aimed his massive slugthrower at her head when she was on the ground, "This is special gun, it fires a one pound slug at upwards of 500 mph, it will blow your head clean off, I dont care what the fuck you are, you cant live headless, So run now, or i will execute your evil bloodsucking vampyrohumegift ass this moment. DECIDE!"

Standing now imaptient, Cecillia yelled to the top of her lungs hard enough to make the sidewalk shake.

"FOR FUCKS SAKE KILL ME IF YOU WISH, STOP PLAYING GAMES"
