Christian based religion has always had an out for bad behavior saying that God has allowed free will. Human beings decide whether they follow religious tenets or do as they wish and follow their own free will. It seems to me to be an indefensible type of plausible deniability for God and religion. God gets credit for good things that happen, and takes no responsibility for the evil of the world blaming it on free will.

Christianity has a rather abhorrent "get out of jail free card" concept. You can do absolutely any level and amount of evil in the world, but so long as you accept Jesus as your savior, you're forgiven and welcomed into heaven.

The only exception is not "accepting salvation", in which case you can live the most virtuous life imaginable, but without accepting Jesus, into the fire pit you go.

I questioned a catholic friend many years ago about that very subject. I said what if someone in a primitive tribe who has never heard of Jesus dies. Can that person go to heaven? He said no, you only get to heaven through Jesus. I said that seems ridiculous and arbitrary. Because he never heard of Jesus he would burn in hell? He said yes and I said your God is an asshole. That pretty much ended the conversation.

But makes sense when you realize religion is simply a ideological mechanism for control and power over people and their resources.

The lefties are the exact same kind of people, they just swapped out one religion for another. Look at the previous example of you being accused of "white privilege". That's just a variation of "original sin" on the basis of you simply being born, integrated into their racist ideology.

Many years ago, the first school I attended (it was the only school in that rural area) was a Church School with actual church services every Thursday.

I remember the head and the vicar giving that lesson, which went along the lines of, 'As long as you return to the ways of Christ on your deathbed it doesn't really matter how many people you kill along the way. You'll be forgiven and can enter heaven.'

It was about that time I decided that it wasn't a very nice religion.

God, like emotion, must be taken on faith. As long as there is faith, there will be god and emotion.

Thus the hypocrisy of religion, you can be a murderous, thieving, asshole, your whole life but if you repent in the end the slate is wiped clean. You are in death what you were in life and yes, it's that simple.
