Which is your worst voted story?

As far as I can remember, Dirty Love (erotic couplings) had a score of 3.8 something. Funny thing was that it got twice as many votes or reads than my other stories.

They just hated the downbeat ending. They seemed to expect me to describe a cure for age. Fact is, it didn't have much of a middle or beginning either. I liked it because it's the only story I've written that was based (loosely) on a personal story. There ya go, my life scores a 3.8 something.

I'll make a bet, I got the story with the least views.

I had reservations about posting on this thread since I have only 4 stories posted. The worst voted is "A Night Out" that has two intrinsic problems.

First, it's written in second person, which I was to discover is a very difficult POV to do without resorting to a mind numbing "you this...you that" kind of tale. Second, it is in the Loving Wives category, but invovles only a husband and wife, not a gaggle of huge-dicked strangers banging the old lady, so another error on my part.

Curiously, it has the most views...well maybe not so curious, as most readers are probably back-clicking as soon as it is evident that it's a story of loving monogomy, not an abusive, un-loving gang bang.
It's too bad they call that category "Loving Wives".
I think it should be "Cheating Wives", or "Low down, filthy whore, slut, gang-bang bitches", or something more appropriate.
It would be nice if we had a real Loving Wives category. I guess it would have to be put in Romance or EC as it is now.

My lowest in views and votes is the Nano story with 2188 views and 5 votes in the 6 months it's been on the board... Can you beat that:D

Well on Friday I woulda bet you. but After Midnight seems to have become popular over the past two days. Almot 3000 views now.

Hi - I am loving this thread! As a relative newcomer here it is very educational and heart warming to hear all your different experiences!

I have one story scoring under 4 - and im not surprised as it is a proper frist chapter of a Sci/Fi story with no real ending to it.

My lowest readership score sits at about 1500 - 4th chapter of said Sci/Fi tale! The low readership in this category has put me off a little but I love it and am currently working on a fantasy tale.

Ogg's comment earlier about stories with ratings over 4 being successes has heartened me somewhat!! So thanks!

I'll fix THAT!

You'll be in last place in no time.

There are a few who can get H on every story but anything consistently rated over 4.00 is a success.

That is SO nice to hear! It seems we tend to focus on the 4.5+ as the definition of "success" -- just forgetting (or ignoring) the fact that there is a lot of space between 1 and 4.5

My lowest story is "Connecting Ch.02" at 4.08 ... and it's one of my favorites. (First person, though, which ain't to all tastes.)

My highest is "Legally Binding" at 5.00 with a whopping 1 vote. Has been that way for months. Category (Humor & Satire) is undoubtedly part of the reason. "The Dance" (4.71) is close behind -- but with only 7 votes, it doesn't get an H (yet).

Like Charley, I'm stretching into 3rd person ... but 1st still comes (no pun intended) more naturally to me.

Nice thread ...

Regarding our scores, I find it useful to convert it to a percentage. That is multiply the score times 20.

That means my lowest scoring story has an 86% mark!

If we got a test or paper back with an 86%, we would be down at the pub celebrating.

Here, a 4.3 is just "Yeah? So what?"

Score whore

An earliier poster admitted to being a score whore, and I guess I am too. After being on this site for over a year I've finally learned how to play it, i.e. I can pretty accurately predict how to score well. It's also easy to get a lot of views. Sorry, but I haven't mastered the art of doing both at the same time.

I fell into winning the scoring game by accident. What you do is write a serial. The earlier chapters will be your lower scorers. But you will garner an audience that likes your work. The later chapters will only be read by a pre-screened audience that is following the story. Scoring high under those circumstances is relatively easy. If you check out the top rated stories in the Romance section, you must go all the way down to #23 to find a story that isn't a later chapter of a serial. Oh, shit, is that Tales of the eKids Chapter 2 at #1?

If you want a lot of views, write Loving Wives or Incest/Taboo stories. Non-Consent/Reluctant stories and Erotic Couplings are good, too. If you want a high score with few views, write Romance stories.

A PLEA FOR VOTES!
I currently have 31 stories posted to Literotica. Of these, 30 have been graced with an "H". My lone non-"H" story is a non-consent story called "Satiable". For almost a year it has been tantalizing me by sitting there with a 4.49 score. I'll admit that I wrote it as a joke. I'll admit I wrote it in response to the "Let's cut his balls off!" emails I got after my only other non-consent story, "My Rapist". I'll admit that I threw in all the kinky sex scenes I could come up with, mostly as an "Up Yours!!" response to my critics. Still, show a little compassion, here. Give me an "H" or give me death! I think Patrick Henry said that.

Views by genre
My non-consent story has over 101,000 views 4.63
My Erotic Couplings story has 66,000 views 4.73
My Loving Wives story has 29,000 views in 2 months 4.62
I have about 26 romance stories posted in the last year.
The highest # of views is about 22,000. Most are in the 8,000 - 12,000 range. But the scores are almost universally good.
Low - 4.64 High - 4.93

Go figure.

Hey, don't forget to vote for "Satiable" (you might want to read "My Rapist" first, cause "Satiable" is a sequel).

Either get me above 4.5 or scuttle me. 4.49 just sucks.

Og

The H's are nice. The E's are an ego trip and the W's are fantastic. But all of them pale in comparrisson to the feedback. Once you cull the nasty and derogotory ones, those that remain make all the time and effort I put into writing a story worth it and the occasional really deep and thoughtful one make the time & effort worth it in spades.

feedback......

As a follow-up to Colly......

Feedback received really spurs my interest in more submittals. I have received by far positive emails, with one or two that questioned my take on the story.

Even some that asked that more "anal" or some other ideas be thrown in. Perplexed on those. My story, my direction, my writing..... but at least it got a response.

Have not heard from the biker twins..... is it Lisa and Laura.... waiting for that opportunity.:D

So, FEEDBACK WELCOME. Even PC's would be appreciated.

My Earth Day entry is my lowest scoring story. I was really surprised at how things went in the contest. I believe in them and the winner's story was great, but the low-voting really surprised me. Took my story months to climb out of the hole it was voted into at the time. It wasn't my strongest story ever and I know it, but it's finally at a score that I'm happy with.

~lucky :)

My story, "Two girls and a cigarette" is my lowest scored, but most viewed.

I'll take it.

i only have three stories up at the moment, but my lowest is 3.78. the other two are hovering just below 4.4. i'm happy with that.

My lowest scoring tale, 'Karen', is a Brother/Sister tale in (surprise!) Incest/Taboo. It has no penetration, which is, I think, why the score stands at 4.19. The rewrite, where they do it, got itself an H.

My lowest rated story otherwise is 'Goody-Two-Shoes makes a friend' and I thought it wasn't too bad, although our friendly cake-wearer, Og, pointed out to me that he thought I should have concentrated either on the lesbian relationship or the would-be thriller aspect, not both, which might explain it.

My biggest surprise is that my dialect piece, 'Aye pet, aal the way', written in the UK Geordie dialect scores as high as it does, at 4.39.

On views, my most viewed piece is currently at 121,000+ views. It also has one of my highest scores. One of my recent submissions picked up 20,000+ views in its first day, which I find slightly scary.

However, as others have said, it's the feedback we get that makes it all worthwhile, particularly things like 'Glad you posted a new piece, I was getting withdrawal symptoms' and 'A perfect last sentence; the ones in the middle were pretty good, too!', although some of the suggestions for where a story might go next can be a little startling.

The lowest score I've got was for Kurt Olsson XXX Special, which by now has a shocking 1,88. Not surprising, considering this is the feedback I've got on it.

Didn't anyone understand that this "story" was a JOKE???????

got my girlfriend pregnant

my girlfriend got pregnant after i used those so called condoms for super sized guys. eventhough i'm happy she is pregnant we aren't ready for it and we don't believe in abortions.

THIS IS *NOT* SAFE - DON'T TRY IT

In case anyone is taking this seriously, these condoms are meaningless -- will not be watertight and are therefore useless.

Another thing you can use, even if you're just in a bind, is wrap saran wrap around his cock and secure with a rubber band at the lowest point.

Let's see.

Lowest scoring:

Disorderly Conduct pt 01: My first submission and it showed. Erotic Coupling, 4.01 with 37K views.

DC pt 02: Strange twist. Two thirds of the folks who read the first part wised up and avoided this loser. But it still got a 4.35 with 13K views

Not knowing when to quit, I submitted another effort, also in EC. Somehow it managed to break 4.5.

Thinking I was on a roll, I tried my hand at a Lesbian Sex story. I shouldn't have. Girl Talk got 34K views but only 41 brave folks hung in there long enough to vote. The score remains, 4.05.

(note: The only positive thing to come out of that assault on English letters was it later inspiring Colly to compile her "How to Write Lesbian Sex" article.)

As for highest score and fewest views, my Lit Olympic story has both distinctions.

When it comes to most views, Nurse Nailed, an Interracial Love saga has 81,000. I may have the record for Incest story with fewest views. Burying Uncle Hiram's Ghost has only 9100.

My favorite comment was about a Group Sex stroke number called, "Sure Cure for Depression."

"Sure got my foreskin unrumpled."

Rumple:
You say that the response to your 2nd chapter of Disorderly Conduct took a strange twist: far fewer readers, but far higher score. I say this is absolutely the logical way things work in the world of Literotica.
Disorderly Conduct Pt 01 culled out most of the people who weren't crazy about whatever the hell you were writing about. So when you posted Pt 02, you had a base of dedicated readers who were pre-disposed to like it. The ones that weren't going to like it were chased away by Pt 01.

As I said in an earlier post, the 23 highest scoring stories in the Romance genre are later chapters of on-going stories. Not one of those 23 is chapter 1.

Rumple: can you tell that I'm a systems analyst?

I'm glad that...

...I started this thread.

It has produced some undervalued stories and showed that many of us suffer when our stories are unexpectedly ignored.

I still think that with 9 stories at 3.xx and 1 at 2.52 I am the leading exponent of crap stories.

Me too! :rose:

It just goes to show that none of us let the bad ones knock us down, we just get on back up again. Our bad ones just make the good ones look better! :D
