Why do you hate Obama?

Bottom line, no population in history has ever benefited from any government enlarging itself, ever......

Except every major civilization that ever existed......

Can't have a world power nation/civilization without a strong centralized gubbmint.....they simply don't exist, and that's why for all their bluster every conservative out there fails to name a single one. Or actually stand behind their bullshit.....

first of all, learn to quote

Some government is useful (roads, police, fireman, teachers, etc), I never said that it wasn't, just not big government that intrudes on people's daily lives, there is a difference........

ummm... roads, water, police, teachers, firemen, the military,,, those are all big business... and when was the last time using a road or sidewalk not something that was part of your daily life

You left out the Roman empire had HUGE amounts of slaves,

they sure did, still doesnt change that it wasnt a highly organized government

do not forget that. What you are showing was for the minority, not the majority. You have shown an example of exactly what I am talking about with big government....thanks....

maybe because the majority of people were not slaves,, and slaves literally could buy their own freedom......... which is the free market system you love so much

oh yeah... without big government slavery would still exist

By the way, the bathhouses you are saying were so healthy, actually spread diseases unless the water was changed (or heavily clean) daily (and guess who did that, along with heating the water, for NO pay)

they were healthier then the lack of them,,, what's better for people...water or no water?

and the roman legion engineers actually did the vast majority of work on the aqueducts system.. you know... big government employees

Perhaps you need to brush up on your arguments, you are not very good at this....

yeah, I have facts.. you have Hollywood... way to school me pal

I will concede the point that some people try and restrict a woman's access to abortion, but might I add some people restrict a person right to choose (Plan Parenthood, and the liberal media to name two......)

how exactly does Planned Parenthood restrict a person right to choose?

and the liberal media is a myth... the largest media corporations in the world are right wing owned

The bottom line about abortion (which I support by the way) is using it for birth control (which I do not support). Products exist to prevent pregnancy, and there are many of them.

so you should probably be out there protesting the rights attempts to restrict access to them

Now a question for you, do you support abortion for birth control?

I support abortion as a choice

if you dont.. you support big government .. or at least small enough to fit into a woman's vagina

Love the rhetoric folks......... we can go tit for tat all day (and night) long

Bottom line, no population in history has ever benefited from any government enlarging itself, ever......

except for literally every single one

When a government gets to big, it becomes about itself, loses common sense and increases its power, even if hurts the population

as opposed to a lack of governance or small government that works so well.. if you ignore slavery, child labour, monopolies, industrial wastelands, etcetera..

When a government gets to big, it makes slaves of its population....telling the population what it can and cannot do

because without a big government I'm certain no one would ever exploit people... because ...reasons

Now people sometimes will give up freedom for security,

the patriot act

or the perception of security.

the patriot act

It may work for a while, but eventually the government will control every part of their lives...

point conceded.. but you have yet to show a country outside of communism and facism that has ever done this.. and if you think the US is one.. you really need to stop smoking crack

Now most of you here can go on an ignore the lessons of history, but I can hope you actually open your eyes (and your minds)

if you actually knew anything about history, we might listen

Same thing that happened before they came around. People went hungry and homeless.

then your kind needs to get off their ass and find a job ... and if need be get a second job.

its not okay to be on welfare. we really need to deport these people

Expanding a welfare state, where people become totally dependent on the government for their basic needs leads to a government can then tell people where they will live, how they will live, where they will work (and what their work will be.)

Then why has that never happened in any country? A revolution by Communists, fascists, or other totalitarians might lead to what you are describing, but no welfare state ever has.

I think that we fought a war in the late 1800's to stop people from doing that to other people.

 No, the U.S. never has fought a war to put an end to a welfare state.

The fact that the US Constitution is not being followed by the executive branch.

The Obama Admin definitely has a far better track record than the W Admin in that regard.

The expansion of rules and regulations that impede normal citizens from bettering their lives, and the lives of their children.

Such as?

Yeah, Obama brought change to the U.S. BIG Government, and history has shown that the bigger the government the sadder the people........ whether it is conservative or liberal

Actually, with the exception of totalitarian states, history shows pretty much the opposite.

They are NOT conservative...they may be semi capitalist to capitalist.

But the all have very strong centralized governments.....

Conservatism does not equate to decentralized government, nor to libertarian government.

kingofAsstards is a perfect example as a Non American pretending to be an American so that he can consume entitlements.

carry on moocher

More serious than a heart attack.

Clarence Thomas? Thomas Sowell? Dr. Benjamin Carson? Yes, Yes and Hell Yes, in a heartbeat!

Just because you approve of some AA public figures does not mean racism has nothing to do with your hatred of Obama.

You are saying that Obama is not expanding the welfare state?

No, he is not. Obamacare is merely a regulatory regime with no public-insurance option, it is not even part of the welfare state -- it should be, but it isn't.

Look, you are right about going to far the other way, but going to liberal is just as bad (or perhaps worse.) Far right and you have a dictatorship, Far left, and you have the wreak that is the communist (socialist) systems........

Or perhaps a Euro-style social democracies.

The real problem is the bureaucracy that Obama has built up. No population has ever benefited from a large government- As they say, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

The populations of the social democracies have benefited from large government. So did the American people benefit from the New Deal and the Great Society.

I just HOPE that Obama CHANGES his course in the Middle East before the World goes up in flames (Iran with Nuclear weapons......)

Iran with nuclear weapons is by no means a worst-case scenario in the MENA; it is a thing we should willingly accept in preference to a wide range of other conceivable outcomes, including war with Iran.

By the way, for most of it's existence, the Roman Empire was conservative, and did very well by not over taxing (but realized they need a military to protect themselves), regulating commerce, or "telling" their population what to do.

For most of its existence, the Roman Empire was officially pagan; it went into a tailspin after it went Christian. Coincidence?

It's simply something we don't want to accept because we've been keeping everybody else out of the club for decades. I honestly don't think the Iranians (at least not the current bunch) are actually crazy enough to nuke anybody. I think they talk a lot of shit but that's par for the course in that region. And if you're not talking Obama we talk a lot of shit too.

There are (through no fault of Obama's) more people on welfare and food stamps now than before.

Perhaps, but not even that is an expansion of the welfare state, merely an increased burden on the welfare state as it existed pre-Obama.

Holy Crap, are you waking up to the disaster called obaMa?

anyone with intelligence can see the obama way ... is the wrong way. stop being a racist and open up your eyes, welfare isn't a career option.

I seriously doubt that KingofAssTards is a lawyer ... or if he is then he purchased the degree from the back of a Rolling Stone magazine. he's not very smart and not successful. another left wring GB'er with a low EIQ

While I do think that joining what is essentially a death cult did have a bad effect on them the fall of the empire includes so many factors that singling out one is kinda silly.

I think most people would call that difference without distinction. It's not that you're wrong mind you. You're completely correct but at the end of the day when the bill comes aside from knowing specifically what the problem/solution is/was whether my bills are higher because I'm simply eating more food or because I ordered cable I'm still paying more and that's the detail I'm gonna focus on.

Obama disaster? Nope because no such thing is happening. The country is more or less on the right path. There are things I wish he'd push harder on or at all on but very little that I would drastically change.

No, people with inteligence know that as flawed as the way he's gonna about many things has been the Obama way is the only way this country is going to survive the twenty first century and the Republican way will destroy us and in hort order. Everybody in the country, quite possibly the civilized world is on welfare it's just a matter of how you go about collecting it.

I don't know or care if Orf is or isn't a lawyer. He has proven on many occasions to be one of the smarter and better informed posters here. You on the other hand very rarely add anything of value to a conversation. I don't know if it's because you're genuinely that stupid or just a troll or some combination there of though I'm leaning towards the latter two.

are you a dumbass, high, or just prefer to keep your head in the sand (or your ass)...you fail to realize the obama debt

The Obama debt doesn't really matter, most of it would be more accurate to call the Reagan (for lowering taxes) and Bush (for starting two wars and lowering taxes) debt. But I don't stress about the debt very much. Most of it for starters is owed to ourselves at the end of the day we can just do what all civilized places do and tax the rich.

Though the real key to growth is to find the appropriate places to spend. you never got back to us on why Silicon Valley is in California as opposed to anywhere in the South or hell fucking Alaska. Youtube could easily set it's HQ in Alaska and not only have lower taxes but the three people you send to live there would actually be paid by the state since Alaska does that for oil rights. Or Texas, or South Carolina. But you can't because the people with the best educations live in California and New York where we gave out tons and tons of welfare to create a place with highly educated workers. And for a tech company having programers>lower taxes. Especially if those people are unwilling to move so you set up where they are.

If we were smart we'd give lots of welfare to students and focus it on math, science and programming. Then give massive amounts of welfare to the health industry so that people are in better positions to take financial risks and start businesses. Lots of people currently stick with the current job(s) because of the Health Care that they couldn't otherwise afford. Then invest in communities in general starting with the South.

ugh ....

more taxes is NEVER the solution. giving the retards in government is government more money is the same thing as giving SeanH crack

just say no!

the only reason why you want to increase taxes, is because you and your kind do NOT work and want more entitlements. Debt doesn't matter to you, cuz you have no assets...you don't have to worry about protecting anything as I'm confident you live in government housing and lack the ambition to purchase a home.

you don't understand the big picture about Silicon Valley ...

Raising taxes is a damn good answer if you're worried about the debt. I have a ton of assets, have never lived in government housing (unless you count Marine Barracks) and own a company.

If you understand the big picture of Silicon Valley why don't you explain it?

We need to let Apple, Google and Amazon keep more of their money so they can buy the rest of the continent.
