I actually hadn't heard the thing about the guy named "Stein" until you mentioned it before. I think the Jews in bed with the religious right need to wake the fuck up. Thanks, Lieby.

Yep.

I think I have to say I don't hate SP. Hate's a very strong word. I mean I don't think I'd spit on her or something.

Jumpin' Joe is one person who I would probably spit on if I met him.

I know this is very faintly related question, but you're talking politics, so it's close enough.
I'm from Australia and it's compulsory for us to vote here (you get a fine if you don't).
I was just wondering. do you guys always vote, or have you not voted before but will vote this time because of the serious trouble the USA could be facing with all of the bank collapses etc?

I'm just curious to see how the other side lives.

KK:rose:

Wow! I've voted semiregularly since the Clinton elections when I was allowed to. I try to vote in the local elections no matter what. Part of the problem with local election is that people who are not going for legislature or senate don't have a party affiliation and their views are not widely disseminated. You just have a bunch of names for, say, school board and you're either reading papers whose politics line up with yours and seeing who they endorse or doing last minute digging.

Everyone gets really fired up about a presidential election, but the truth is your school board, judges, mayor, governor and state reps are going to affect your day to day much more than the executive branch, and I assert that even after the last disastrous 8 years for civil liberties. It's STILL more micro and people are less informed and less interested in participating on a micro level.

'Cause this is better theater. Ultimate real time reality show.

We are not required to vote, but I think that there should be more incentives to encourage people to vote, like making election day a national holiday.

I don't hate Palin, I just think she is a moron and not cut out to be a VP. If McCain won he might croke in office leaving Palin to run the Country and no telling how bad America would end up if Palin was President.

I wouldn't spit on Sarah, but I might shake her by the shoulders and say "whatsamattawitchyou???"

Yeah, that's why it's become so personal now against Palin. It turns me off completely, but Republicans made the rules, so I don't feel sorry for them.

No no, if Obama had agreed to these town hall meetings it would never have HAD to get like this!!

True somewhat about the micro thing, but any government, big or small, will do what it thinks it can get away with, so if you voted the republican party out I'd say there would be a big shift in the next year or so with what goes on in the more close to home things.
It happened in Aus when John Howard not only lost the election for the liberals but lost his seat, so he couldn't even be PM if they did get voted back in.
All of a sudden, local governments are realising that the majority didn't want work choices (the ability for employers to fire at will and put people on a crap contract rather than a country/state wide award agreement) and weren't going to be bullied by big business, so they had to change their tune. It's worked out pretty well thus far.

You know, I'm surprised the world hasn't ended for you people like 1000 times over. Nationalized health care, things like that. Your dollar being so poor and all, oh wait, it's better than MINE now isn't it?

Yes, so lets keep voting for those same politicians that obviously care more about personal power than the country they are running.

Oh wait... that's not a bad thing, its just the spirit of capitalism, you dirty commie!

You know, I just want people to tell the truth. That's all.

It's not as though Obama isn't attracted to power. If you read the New Yorker piece about him (the one that had that controversial cover), you find out that he's a tough political player who made his way up in Chicago politics. He's never denied that he plays to win, either. He was allied at different times with all of the major players in Chicago, but also went up against them at times. He took a lot of risks, in part, to win, but nothing that really went against the grain of who Obama is. Nothing that makes you question his character.

They don't call us the lucky country for nothing Netz. :)

I don't mind that people play to win and are competitive and go for it, but the goal should be to win so that you can do some good, not just the winning in itself.

1) If you were a democrat and had sound policies and a NRA member I might vote for you I like Joe Leiberman.

2) I would have to look up that bill. I have a feeling there was more to it then that, like banning the asault rifles that also included simi auto shot guns.

3) I hunt the national forests and private land. You are absolutely right "can hunts" are nothing more then killing. Also you don't usualy aim for the head (although I have shot them there) You go for a double lung heart shot and if you can take their shoulder out while your at it. Never took a shot a deer I wasn't confident would drop in 5'-0" of where I shot it.

4) Hawaii, Good Boar hunting there.

5) The Bow huntering magazines don't like Obama ether.

6) How the hell do you get the spell check to work on this site?

Is there any other issue that matters to you? I ask this sincerely.

I screw a guy who never missses deer season, but this isn't the only thing on his mind.

Her husband is.

So if Michelle were Al Qaida for a few months no one would care. I'm just checking.

Since you know, secessionist right wing people DO blow buildings up from time to time, it seems to me prudent to assume the worst is possible.
Have you been following John Ridley's Guide to Palinguage at the Huffington Post? Here are some of my favorites.

If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "token hire." If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "game changer."

Black teen pregnancies? A "crisis" in black America. White teen pregnancies? A "blessed event."

If you grow up in Hawaii you're "exotic." Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential "American story."

If you say that for the "first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country" it makes you "unfit" to be First Lady. If you are a registered member of a fringe political group that advocates secession that makes you "First Dude."

If you get 18 million people to vote for you in a national presidential primary, you're a "phoney." Get 100,000+ people to vote you governor of the 47th most populous state in the Union, you're "well loved."

If you are biracial and born in a state not connected to the lower 48, America needs darn near 2 years and 3 major speeches to "get to know you." If you're white and from a state not connected to the lower 48, America needs 36 minutes and 38 seconds worth of an acceptance speech to know you're "one of us."

If your pastor rails against inequality in the United States of America, you're an "extremist." If your pastor welcomes a sermon by a member of Jews for Jesus who preaches that the killing of Jews by terrorists is a lesson to Jews that they must convert to Christianity, you're a "fundamentalist."

If you spend 18 months building a campaign around the theme of "Change," it's just "empty rhetoric." If one week before your party's national convention you SUDDENLY make your candidacy about "Change," that's "red meat."

If you supported a war that is costing $2.4 billion a day, you're a patriot who wants smaller government. If you oppose the war, you're a defeatist who wants big government.

If you chant 'Drill, Baby, Drill" you are positing an effective and responsible energy plan, science and logic be damned. If you chant "Yes, We Can" you are a mindless automaton.

If you're a Democrat and you prefer wine over beer, you are an "elitist." If you're a Republican and you prefer a beer heiress over your first wife, you are a "committed family man."

If you are Sarah Palin, you have no idea what the Bush Doctrine is. If you are an Iraqi, you know exactly what the Bush Doctrine is.

1) The economy, I want someone that is Fiscaly conservitive.

2) The big one here and they are tied together. I don't want my taxes to go up more so because I don't like what they go to and thats to grow the goverment.
Obama was given 100 million dollars when he was a comunity organizer to help the Chicago school system and he blew the money. Didn't help the program. Chicago is a great example the school system is tied in with the city they spend like $10,000.00 per student and somthing like only half of them graduate and only half of those are properly prepared to go to collage.
I bet your local school system spends less money per student and does a better job. Mine does. Taxes for a good school system no problem. Taxes for big government that doesn't work I got a problem with that.

3) Abortion, I not for it. But if you want to kill your kid Ok by me.
But the way the law was, letting doctors preform partial birth abortions thats wrong. When the kid can live out side the womb but you kill it anyways that bad.

4) Which brings up the death penalty. I believe in evil, I believe there are people who are just evil. Kill them.

5) Social security, Pay the old people off and get rid of it. I'll work to the day I die I'm not asking for a free meal ticket. They didn't have it in Teddy Rosivelts day

6) health care leave it alone and deminish it. It doesn't work in other countries it's not going to work here.

7) The WARs Suport the troops win them!

Do you know how to turn on the spell check? Love to chat more I have to help a friend move a couch. Later

Wow. Here's a new one.

Please provide a link to a credible source to support this claim.

If there was any success rate on anything in Chicago schools do you think anyone other than TAL would even NOTICE? Yeah, I can just see it "at eleven" on ABC.

I lived in Chicago for a year. How about you? Rat hunting's good. Yeah, the schools fundamentally suck. I can tell you that the student body is facing problems and obstacles that would put sane people into institutions, but the only explanation for poor performance is that we're giving them too much to work with. (?)

There's a ton of corruption in large urban school systems - administrators get rich, students get screwed. Independent groups, like community organizers, cannot possibly be held responsible for this fact. It's things like activist school boards and corrupt administrators that can.

How do you feel about your tax dollars going to pay for other people's fiscal mistakes? Is that better? Do you like the government in the mortgage business more than you do in the public education business?

Civilized countries take care of the old people who grew their GNP with their blood and sweat. They make sure no one has to die for lack of medical care because that's "right to life" too. First world nations DO this.

They don't get into the lending business, fuck up, get their cronies rich doing it, and then hang old people out to dry. That's the kind of thing Central American dictatorships do.

100 million dollar grant, go here
http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives...chicago-schools-under-ethnic-identity-agenda/
Listen to the pod cast, I'll make it easy for you start listening at 21minutes 59sec. to around 26 minutes for the wast of the funds and listen longer if you want to know how the Obama campaign tried to stop the program from airing
and don't get made at me when it proves me correct.

Big Money Big Government Big Theives.

I going to practice my bow shots now. I'll check in tomorrow for your apology in doubting me.

I'm sorry. "stoptheaclu?" "TNR?" HAHAHAHAAA!

I'd like to see Palin denouncing the famous fascist she chose to quote...

Why on earth would anyone expect ethnic identity programs to help with math or science scores immediately and measurably?
Every class, every day, everywhere you go is an "ethnic identity program" for WASP males.

Wow, More criticism.

Hey, I'm going to get old I don't want the hand out.
The problem is I think there are a lot of people who don't want the hand out and I don't want it but if they don't take free money. Well then they are considered not to bright.
As I said cover the old people now but faze out the system.

What about responsibility, I have a retirement fund it's got about a $1.50 in it but I got one.
I also got some serious cash put away in a 529 for the kid to go to school. But if it's not enough she can join the U.S.Army.

Heath Care I have insurance I pay almost as much for as it cost for my housing cost. The kid get sick she see's the Doctor no wait. You get a public health care system in the country and you'll die in the waiting room waiting to see someone.
Truth be told I think there should be a national insurance program for childern. It wouldn't cost much. If your under 18 you are covered and if you got a desease or somthing serously meesed up with you you go in an insurance lottery where an insurance company has to cover you. Other then that, if you want insurance over the age of 18 buy it or join the Army.

* guffaw *

Palin said: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities." Giuliani said: "You have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer … maybe this is the first problem on the resume."

You lying, mocking smearmongers really should make up your minds. Did he mismanage a "100 million grant," or was he just wandering around the South Side of Chicago with no responsibilities at all?

In case anyone is interested in a description of Obama's actual work as community organizer, this Newswek interview with Obama's supervisor, Jerry Kellman, is an interesting read.
