Why does everyone use ready made cake mix???

Hmmm I *think* I have some Ovaltine in my cupboard. I'll have to read the ingredients see what it says.

there was a whole bunch of hooplaa a couple of years back... since they did not tell people that they had put in gmo corn shiat in to it.
Part of it could have been that they might not have known...
the system here in the US where the manufacture of corn is tracked... is pretty much nonexistant.
once its on the field, gets harvested, dumped in a silo or a truck and then delivered somewhere...
mistakes can hapen and it can get mixed in with a batch of
non gmo corn.

also... never ever drink bottled juice... etc.

the tanker trucks that take the prefabricated juice from places such as california or florida to Jersey where the bottling plant exists... load up on the chemicals/ pesticides Jersey produces to be taken back down to california or miami etc...

After the trip the tanker trucks may or may not get cleaned properly. even if they do get cleaned some of the chemicals still leave recidue in the tankers.
The fun begins when they are back in the juice producing states... and load up on that batch of juice to be taken to the plant in jersey...

i think everyone can make the connection from there with the chemical residues, acidic juice and the tanker truck transporting both.

I went into the kitchen tonight and thanks to this thread, nothing seemed appealing...so I had a baked potato. I would say I'm certain nothing really weird can happen to THOSE, but as sure as I do, I will be proven dead wrong. :(

Chocolate...now THERE's an idea!

Doesn't even need to be something as toxic as pesticides

In 1994, a salmonella outbreak was blamed for sickening 224,000 Americans who ate bacteria-tainted Schwan's ice cream. The contamination was traced to a trucking firm that carried ice cream mix to the Schwan's Inc. factory in the same tanks it used to carry raw eggs, a common salmonella culprit.

the egss arent the problem... but rather the fecal mater on the surface of the eggs...

most chickens are not contaminated with salmonella before they are butchered... they get contaminated when the gutted chicken carcases get "washed" in the same huge ass vat of saline solution with the contaminated ones...
because of this 80% of all chicken meat sold in the US has some amount of salmonella on it.

chocolate....
Do you really want me to go in to how hershey makes their mediocre chocolate type food products???
the transfatty acids alone in that stuff can kill a horse... let alone the govt regulated amount of roach and rat tail that get groundup in there with everyhting else.

just as a slight side branch to this conversation... of all the things that look, taste and smell like chocolate... about half are anything but...
in short... you really dont want to know of the 25 chemical ingredients in an average mcdonalds milkshake.. be it chocolate or strawberry... one of those ingredients is simply labeled as "solvent"... just the get your imagination going.
(just remember the jack in the box comercials where they did stocko on the side of the house with the other guys milkshakes and used the milkshakes as a cement coundation.... I wouldnt be suprised if you actualy could do that with the stuff..)

Please don't take my chocolate away...... goodness....whats left, wood?!:( And if you go after my peppermint stick ice cream........ well let it be known..... thems' fightin' words!
:D

Are you growing any extra arm or legs yet from eating these foods? What SanDGuy isn't telling you is questionable practices have been done forever with food. Pick up a food history book and be amazed. I mean you can nitpic about every little food but what are you going to eat? I'm gonna eat what ever I damn well please, we're all going to die someday and dammit if I go out a glutten then I went out happy.

Well i doubt that its going to have "corn" listed directly in the back... much more likely that its in there in the form of an anticaking agent, modified food starch, a sweetener of some sort...
you name... it could be one of a number of "refined food type products" that get crammed in to everyday items.

If you would be so kind as to wrtieup the list of ingredients in there and ill tell you what is corn based etc...

It is also possible that due to the bad pr they recieved for making a shitty product... they changed the recipe slightly.

but again that list of ingredients... if you want to post it up i can tell ya whats corn and whats not.. :D

well just to make a point...
i try not to go in to the history involed in food production.... since thats just too scary...
you know al of the nice things that have hapened in meat packing plants etc in the past and even to this day...
(A meat packer has the most dangerous job in the US...)

:D

actualy wood can be toxic and it will cause severe abdominal cramps, injuries and possibly even death due to the prior effects if digested in large quantaties...

Im not going to pick on your peppermint icecream... well not intentionaly anyways... i may pick on the brand of icecream and hence unintentionaly pick on your favorite.

the only chocolate i like to pick on is hersheys... simply because it has no flavor (asides from that of plastic), it costs a lot comparatively and its so chock full of unhealthy stuff its not even funny.
My advice is that go with practivcaly any other type of chocolate asides from hersheys... or the massproduced candybars next to the checkout line. those 2 are not meant for human consumption... even rats wont touch the stuff unless desperate.

SanDguy I;ve had a really rough couple of days but I will put the list of ingredients on here eventually.

So how about Dove, which is owned by Hershey's?

propably the same thing... although isnt dove originaly a european company???

if its an established brand name aquired later on by hershey it
might be OK.

dont be so sure...

you really dont want to know what they bury in the ground and dump on your property in terms of waste materials and chemicals
when they built your house etc.. :D

its illegal but when you have a whole untrained barely literate workers building stuff under the supervision of someone trying to save a $ anywhere they can.... things do not get processed properly.

also...

Did you know that 99.99999% of all ecoli etc fecal mater related foodbourne pathogens which may cause ilness that are found in meat could be prevented if the slaughter houses simply washed off the insides of the carcases when they get processed.
chiken carcases need to get washed twice... in 2 separate vats of saline... curently they only use one.

if you eat at mcdonalds, wendys, bugerking etc... when it comes to their hamburgers... YOU GOT SHIT IN YOUR MEAT... :D

there is a small alllowed % figure of fecal matter allowed in each patty which may come from as many as 100 cows.
There is also a allowed maximum of 2% of bone matter allowed in there... so mind your teeth.

STOP! Please stop! With all due respect of course! I can't learn one more thing about it!
:rose: Maybe you could post a few good receipes Chef! That would be terrific, not that I'd make the item, but I enjoy reading cookbooks!!:)
