Why is Greenland Even a topic?

This whole post needs to be delivered to every MAGA drum-beater. Soooo well put 👍

I am not so sure.

We all see the world from where we are.
And what we see gets filtered through our assumptions, our experiences and our knowledge.

On top of that we are all equipped with a very different set of values, hopes, dreams and aspirations.

Sprinkled some cultural differences and religious beliefs.

It is not as if I do not get it, I do. Which pains me.

Who am I to tell people that they are wrong?

Because, seen from their perspective: the world may burn, it has never done anything for them anyway.

And can I really disagree with that?

I am just seeing the world from my perspective.

Well, ours and Greenland's foreign minister have a meeting with J.D Vance tomorrow.
That Vance asked for, he changed the meeting from being a semi casual meeting between equal foreign ministers, to a very official meeting in the WH.
Geez... That is going to be constructive and beneficial for the whole situation.
Vance, for some reason, fucking hates Denmark. 🙄

The simple answer to the OP is:

Its not Epstein Files.

Everything else is a diversion of attention from THE most important issue.

Not sure I've been clear about this-
Negotiating for our security interests with our NATO ally is the best path forward.

If we invade Greenland, the President should be impeached.

That's not how it works.
And JD Vance would have to act.
Take a civics class
To the extent that undermining national standing in such a gross way is a signal of mental infirmity, the 25th amendment could, in principle, be used against him.

How is the 25th Amendment invoked?

Get a fucking clue.

Our VP is loyal to the autocrat.

I never made a claim about plausibility. The statement was normative.
Aah, so hypothetically.

Got it.
We have JD.

Take a fucking reading comprehension class.
Perhaps comprehend that I'm discussing what is possible rather than theoretical.
There are difficult paths forward and there are impossible paths forward.
An autocratic administration does not allow the 25th amendment to be invoked.

Hell, the last administration didn't even do so.

May I ask what the army thinks about this? That is not heard over here.

I'm playing with the thought that Vance does a Zelenskyj to the foreign minsters. I don't think it will work since Lars Løkke Rasmusen is quite an experienced politician and I think he just keep calm and let Vance do the screaming, say thanks but no thank you and leave.
What happens next if Trump decide to keep his position? Can he just tell the army to march in the direction of the cold weather or does it have to pass some more thoughtful people that says "it's not worth the risk since we are getting all we want without getting killed or have to kill our allies".

And another question, is there any legal way to stop Trump if he decides to send troops? Can the army say "You are nuts! This is crazy. We are not attacking allies!"?

He is the commander in chief. They follow orders.

We don't have foreign ministers. We have a cabinet.
Overall we have a current autocracy. The administration is loyal to the President.

It doesn't work.

It's up to Congress to proceed and complete impeachment and removal. If it doesn't, nothing changes.

Theoretically, Congress votes to oppose actions by the President.
The only branch who has opposed him is the Judiciary, but the branch that needs to is the legislature.

Not really. That would end up being a coup....which is much more difficult here based on our Constitution.

Thank you. I think both Cogan and I are feeling a bit nervous right now.

So, thank you for your calm and sober replies. 🙏🏻

I wish I could be more comforting. At this point, I'm afraid the only way forward is one where we invade Greenland.

So many in the US don't realize the precipice of history we are in right now. And actually seeing the result manifest itself might be the only way for them to understand.

I support the people of Denmark and Greenland to act in their own interests and am against any aggressive action towards either by our autocratic President.

Pis.

Det ser sort ud.

I agree.

Something needs to happen, I am just really sorry that it needs to be done like this.

But with so few people realising the severity of these actions, I.. sorry, it is a bit difficult to be in the middle of it.

What ever happens, happens.

And I fear that we have reached the point of no return.
