Why is Greenland Even a topic?

I agree.

Something needs to happen, I am just really sorry that it needs to be done like this.

But with so few people realising the severity of these actions, I.. sorry, it is a bit difficult to be in the middle of it.

What ever happens, happens.

And I fear that we have reached the point of no return.
I need a hug button. I have been sending emails and phone calls for the past two weeks to my reps. I am already attending protests to make my voice heard and campaigning for folks that are against this action.

And it's good to know that there are people like you that understands what will happen if Trump continue and make his threats go live.

The meeting with Vance starts in 2 minutes.

I think all of the citizens of the Rigsfællesskabet are glued to our screens and radio.

Sorry, I am not really able to think.

Let us talk when the meeting is over. I know that this is not the decisive meeting, but this is the meeting that tells us if we are going to be invaded.

And it's good to know that there are people like you that understands what will happen if Trump continue and make his threats go live.
To be fair, I don't understand. I am trying to. I've never experienced this before in my lifetime and I just want to help us all understand how to react. For some that cheer his actions on, I believe them to be ignorant and shortsighted..... transactional.

You haven't answered my question yet. Witch European country is shrinking its defense budget? That was what you started this argument with.

We are getting there. Every year more and more soldiers are trained again. At least in the Nordic countries.

And if you are going to turn this into a pissing contest, I suggest Trump against King Frederik X. king against King! The contest should be held at Greenland so the yellow would be a great contrast to the snow. I suggest Trump to wear Wellingtons. :D
Their defense budgets are already too small, hence our need to be there to defend Europe.

But that was not what you said.. you specifically said that they were shrinking their budget.

And, have not you looked at the numbers? They are increasing.
We can always discuss why they are increasing, facts are: we are spending more and more on our defences. And that is a good thing.

Just like us producing our own military material is a brilliant thing, making sure that our money is spent here in Europe, generating jobs, income and stability.
As well as owning the rights to our military software.

For that I am actually grateful, we have been way too dependent for way too long. It is about time that we rid ourselves of the ghosts of the past.
We are not going to start a new WW, we are working together, communicating and learning how to move forward in a new way.

Together we are stronger.

Will you all take a step back and look at what's going on here?!

We are about to go to WAR over GREENLAND!

Never before history could anyone say that!

The EU has more people and more money than we do, yet still expects others to underwrite its security. They should pay for and man their own armies. All they need is willingness. That's the bottom line solution.

I believe the idea was to have the democracies be allies in the face of challenges like the Warsaw Pact or the Chinese Communists. Notice that the European powers are on the front lines and will take the massive casualties in case of any attack (similarly, the Taiwanese, Philippines, Koreans and Japanese in the Pacific), so it seems only fair that the United States at least have some troops there to join the fight.

Of course that doesn't mean the Germans or the Poles have to give up any territory! After all, that's the whole point of hte alliance, isn't it? To avoid having anyone steal anyone's territory?

So when Donald Trump says that the USA has to not just station troops at a base in Greenland, but actually confiscate the entire island, then he's clearly being an idiot.

On the other hand, if Greenland becomes the 51st US state, with two senators and a representative in your Congress, what would that mean for the MAGA Republicans?

Have we denied that?

Or are we actively increasing our founding.

I do not get it, what is it you are trying? Why do you keep saying the same things over and over?

We agree.
We are spending more money.

Annex it, make it a state, add two Senators for the Democratic Party and one Representative!

No. China and Russia already have Greenland in their crosshairs. Letting either gain a foothold there would be a dangerous mistake, exposing critical early-warning radars and sensor networks to interference and compromise. This isn’t about Denmark’s sovereignty, it’s about hemispheric defense, and it’s more than Denmark can handle alone.

Thank you, and yes.

The American president does not want Russia as his neighbour (funny way of showing it, he usually welcome him so warmly, red carpet and everything.)

But, we have Russia as our neighbour. We are dealing with the sabotage and destruction.
Not the US.

We are keeping Russia away. We are supporting the active war against Russia, on our continent.

If you added those expenses to our defence, then we would spend much, much more.

The US is not keeping us safe right now, rather: The US is trying to annex a country, while we are helping Ukraine.

Somewhere along the lines, the logic got lost in the process.

Side note - Russia is already our neighbor as well .

People who make that argument are insincere or ignorant of geography

Actually, if you're talking about rearranging the geography, why not have Alaska be ceded to Canada? The USA as it is now, is not a contiguous entity. Wouldn't it make more sense to be organized with all the territories north of Lake Superior, including Alaska and Greenland, be part of one Canadian nation?

NATO.

We are not alone..

And from where are you getting your intel? Do you know something we do not know?
Are you a spy?

See.. I do not get you. Your arguments are invalid. You make nothing but fallacies. You are repeating the same proven to be nonsense over and over again.

I get it, you have this idea.. the US is the victim here, and you deserve a payment.

But, that is simply untrue. You are the bully in this scenario.

Oh.. there are Inuits in Alaska, right?

How do they feel? How are they treated.. are they doing okay?

Nobody said you were.

Hopefully, Donald Trump won't be trying to either. Hard to imagine macho Delta-force commandos holding Inuits at gunpoint and demanding they run the Stars and Stripes up their flagpoles. Maybe with 51 stars, hm? If Greenland is annexed, shouldn't it get its two Senators and a Member of Congress?

Delta "force" vs Jaegers in the actual Arctic Circle... 😂

I know where my money is going.

See? We can all engage in pissing contests 😝

The bully in the White House goes after small fry like Greenland and Venezuela because he's too timid to challenge Putin or Xi.

Dear lady,

Wars are won or lost decades before the first shot is fired. It takes at least twenty years to build a credible force capable of defending Europe. Today, the German Army fields roughly eight brigades—but only half are truly combat-ready. The modern British Army is so small it could nearly fit inside a single football stadium, and that’s before you factor in readiness, rotations, or logistics. In World War II, Britain deployed several armored divisions; now it struggles to field one without external support. Denmark’s entire army couldn’t fill half the seats of an American football stadium.

For 80 years, the United States has shouldered the burden of defending Europe. Now, as we pivot to the western Pacific, Europe faces a stark reality: without a full military mobilization, it cannot properly defend itself.
