You do a great job Dark, I have trouble keeping track of my own stories.

For those asking about posting in loving wives. Here is my first day results. I get a lot of reads, comments and feedback. Also get a lot of votes but pay for it when the vote is averaged out. I'll also say that some of the nicest replies comes in the feedback sent to me.

Retaliation Would getting even be the answer?

True, Dark! When you track it, do you post it somewhere?

I upload them, but I don't post a link until after the contest is over. It's not all that hard to do for yourself ( and far quicker if you just deal with the score ) but I'm not going to give those lacking in morals an easy roadmap of which stories to 1-bomb every day. *laugh*

I'm tracking score, rank, votes, # of votes I've seen swept, views, comments, and favorite listings this time out. With the category listed, it gives you an idea of how the various categories perform, with respect to contests.

Of course, everything goes out the window once the sweeps start, as the tracking will probably show It's entirely possible that apparent runaway winners can fall out of the top spot once the Hoover comes over the horizon.

For instance, I saw a comment on one of the top 5 stories last night where the commenter actually came right out and said, "I love this story! I come back and vote on it every night!"

If that reader has been voting 5 every night since the story posted, it could have a measureable effect on the final score, once the Hoover removes all those multiple votes.

I check them every few months or so ( except new stories, which I look at far more frequently during the first week ) and update the database.

The "How many votes/views/comments do you get" question comes up so often that I decided to have all the data readily at hand for an instant post.

It would be a hella lot easier if Lit's table code for the view submissions page wasn't so outdated, preventing you from just cutting and pasting the page wholesale.

Tacking all stories this time. Yours should have some data on the list tonight. I added it last night. Lit must have changed the update time on the various lists, because the first night a story is out, there's pretty much no score, view, or vote data available. All you get is # of favorites and comments.

They probably update in the wee hours ( sensible, to avoid traffic problems with the largest percentage of visitors from the U.S. ) but I'm not staying up until 2am and then starting this two hour ordeal *laugh*

Well, guess my story has more potential than I thought. My editor is trying to get me to expand it into a multi-parter *laugh*

I guess it will be in at some point. Have the setup for another written, but not much time left to finish it. Doubt I'll get it done on time.

Getting more reads over 22,500, more votes 731, more comments 41 plus feedback but the score doesn't change. I should have another story ready this week. It's at the editors now. I'm thinking romance but will wait and see. It's a story I started for the Halloween contest but my editor and I both thought it was pretty run of the mill so I added a few thousand words and brought it into the winter (holiday) time.

I could wait until after the contest when there are a lot less trolls to lower my score. But I get anxious once I make the corrections. Besides, it takes more like 4 days to get posted rather than the next day where contest stories get priority.

I just wish the trolls would understand my stories are not a threat to them. I always end up in the middle somewhere. I've submitted for every contest since late 2005. Have decent scores but ne'er a winner. LOL

Haven't been called out yet, and I've had stories in that name post at the same time as stories as Dark & Les. I even had one person send me a glowing review of a story as Les, mentioning that I would probably like a story in my third name, which also got a glowing email review and a suggestion to read my story as Les

Hi Box, nice to hear from you. I agree with you, the more votes, the less troll votes. That's why I say the more votes the less the troll votes affect them. As far as why I get so many reads, votes and comments, I really don't know. I have never met any of the other authors or readers for that fact.

I'm pretty much a loner except for a few author friendships. I've never even met any of them. I have no alts and I do vote once for my own stories. Wouldn't even know how to vote more than once.

I've been writing since the winter of 2005. Have over 200 stories, not even sure how many. I do get comments on my old stories almost daily. I've noticed that once someone reads my stories they seem to go through my list and pick out others.

I will be honest and say I do get a big share of negative comments. I think even negative comments are good. I guess it's because I can raise the ire of a reader for them to take the time to leave a comment. Sometimes it get old but all in all it turns out pretty even.

I wish there was a magic solution to getting people to read, comment or vote. If there is, I don't know what it is.

I'm starting to get depressed, People stopped paying attention to my story, and I haven't had a single comment in over a week.

It happens to every story. Once it leaves the first couple of pages on Lit, it won't get much attention.

You'll get a few votes and maybe a comment or two after the first few days. Now it's time to write another story and go on. Enjoy the writing and write what you feel. That's really what it's all about.

Everyone would like comments and more readers but it just doesn't happen that way and we all have to live with that fact. Just be happy you are able to write and that thousands of reading have read it.

DG, thats what I figured.. I just wanted to make sure it was 'legal' once the contest was over.

Ultimate~ fake snow is beautiful around the edges of windows/anything glass! Mirrors, doors, you name it!
It is a bitch to get off though.. hmm. My best friend and I attacked her house with it a few years ago, and there is still evidence of it on her kitchen window.

Luna~ Yes! We'll string popcorn and cranberries and roll pine cones around in peanut butter and bird seed! lol.

Oh, Ultimate again, lol~ It's supposed to rain all day here, high of 56, then over night its turning to snow and the high for tomorrow is 33. stupid Ohio weather, LOL.
