Hello to all the Wisconsinites!

I hope all of you are enjoying this nice spring/summer like day we are experiencing. I think it is our first like this since the middle of March.

Hopefully many more days like today are in store for us for the next 3-4 months.

Any word on a wine and cheese party get together?

I think a lit-together would be great. However I couldn't possibly do anything for a couple of months. Just too damn busy.

On the plus side, sold one of my cars today. That'll make things less busy much sooner. Yippie.

I hope everybody is staying dry on this rainy/stormy day. I guess you can say that they got a little bit of rain in Winnebago, Green Lake and Fond Du Lac counties considering that they shut Hwy 41 down on the south side of Oshkosh and Hwy 21 down in Omro for water over the roads.

Yes a Wisconsin Lit get together would be fun and yes I'm sure there would be scheduling conflicts with a lot of people. The conflict would be, where would be a good location to have it. Somebody would have to set up a date, time and location and hope for the best that othe Lit Members could make it.

WOW I guess you guys got a lot of rain down there, I know up here we lost power from like 6-830 this morning and it was coming down hard enough that it was hard to see across the street for a few minutes. No flooding here that I know of but we have so much sand around here I don't think we ever really have to worry about flooding.

I also agree a Wisconsin Lit party would be fun, I think Wausau would almost be middle of the state or Stevens Point.

I like the idea of Point, as it's kind of mid-state-ish. I have to admit I don't know much about places to go there for bars or anything; all I know is it's a college town.

I'm guessing after June 1st would be better for most people in any case, as we have some holidays coming up here soon.

We had one really good storm last night, and again this after noon. Got about 1.5 inches of rain in the past 24hrs. Not nearly as much as NE Wis. I lived in Oshkosh the last time they had bad flooding. What a circus THAT was.

Hey all. I hope everybody is high and dry now that all of the rain has gone through. It is turning out to be a nice day in WI. A little cooler than it has been in the past couple of days. That's alright, as long as it stays above freezing and sunny outside. Sounds like we're suppose to have a decent weekend, a little cooler, sunny and maybe a chance of rain.

To have a Wisconsin Lit get togehter would work pretty much anywhere in WI. I don't know about the Point/Wausau area as meeting spot. The only thing I know about Point is that they have Point and O'so breweries there and Point is a college town. Maybe the Dells or Madison would be a more suitable location. Since most of the people on Lit that are from WI are from the Milwaukee area, it would be an easier drive for them.

Anyways, I'm off to drive to the other part of the state (western side). I only have a 3-1/2 hour drive ahead of me. But oh well. Hopefully I have some fun this weekend as I'll be spending a lot of time in the outdoors wearing camo for the next two days.

The residents of Oshkosh are pissed that they keep getting flooded year after year. They want the City to do something about it now, and the City can only do something about slowly.

Flooding is annual in some parts of Oshkosh from what I've heard from a lot of friends who live there. My impression is part of the issue is that taxes are too low to pay for the work that needs to be done and the geography/planning of the city leaves something to be desired anyway.

Madison works for me, too. I love Madtown, actually know my way around from years of visiting friends down that way.

When I lived on the West side the creek over flowed. When I lived on the East side, there were no storm drains on most streets, which cause a ton of standing water, and I always worried about flooding. Surprisingly it didn't happen.

The Dells. There is an idea. Ho-chunk and all the bars and other shit to do. I would vote the Dells if we ever get something started. Or Fox Valley area.

Fox Valley would be doable for me also I'd say Appleton or Neenah for there I know a bar or 2 in those areas
