Writer's dilemma

He was pensive as he chewed the bagel, washing it down with huge gulps of black coffee before heading out to class. Sara had already left with a promise to return after work “with a surprise.” He had no idea what she was thinking, but the long, lingering kiss she’d left on his lips made it clear her desires were running as deeply as his own. Any potential doubt was dispelled when she ran her fingertips up his cock through his pants with a teasing, “See ya, lover” just before she slipped on her jacket and left. Her skirt, short and tight enough to suggest the outline of her panties, accentuated the slenderness of her hips.

“That’s work attire?” he’d asked incredulously when she’d slid the skirt on after slipping from between the sheets and out of his arms.

“Just something to keep you thinking about during the day,” she’d replied. To his half-begged request that she wear the skirt home, Sara merely smiled enigmatically.

Thinking about his girlfriend in the quiet after her departure, Jason called up the photo from the night before. The skirt. The intensity of the look. The red hair. He was vaguely troubled to find it had the same response on him in the thin paleness of the early morning sun as it had in the warm darkness of the night before. Looking at it made him think of Sara’s fingers on his cock … of the incredible gushing climax he’d had the night before when he thought about taking both – his girlfriend and then this stranger – by force.

He wasn’t stupid and he’d always been honest enough with himself to look in the mirror and see warts and all. Sure. The girl in the photo’s hauteur and hair pointed straight to his exchange with “Ginger.” Still, he reasoned, why should that be surprising? She’d pissed him off. He was moving to a psychological resolution by raping the girl in his fantasies. It had nothing to do with desire. It had to do with anger. Maybe even simple irritation. That such force scenarios formed some of the intensest moments in his lovemaking with Sara … well … that was coincidence, nothing more.

He was tempted to run all this by Denis, but he doubted his friend’s ability to see it in any light other than the purely sexual. Jason loved him like a brother, but neither would deny that Denis’s brain was hard-wired to his dick.

“Claire?” he mused aloud. They’d shared a lot in their years together. They’d even fooled around a few times, though things never went beyond some dry humping in her dorm room back in undergrad school. Jason was the first she’d told when she started sleeping with her current boyfriend, Tony, just as Jenny had known before anyone about Sara. This, though ... there was something about this Words-worth thing that felt intensely private.

He sighed and rose to rinse his mug and leave. Whatever it was, it would resolve itself soon. Although he’d never bothered to re-visit the thread that had begun this nonsense, Jason did note that “Ginger” had posted in a few other forums. Whether or not she would stay at Words-worth was an open question; he couldn’t count the number of dilettantes who had stuck around for a month, grown bored by a place that was literary rather than social, and moved on. He’d be willing to bet she’d be gone in another few weeks, but if she stayed, she was keeping a low enough profile that she could be ignored as he had been doing.
As he slipped on his jacket, his phone beeped. Checking his text, he smiled.

Just took off my panties, read the message. Heels still on.

A lover, eh? How many girlfriends you have that appreciate that?

Oh! Totally. I'll be posting today, for sure. I would LOVE feedback, so just check it out later tonight :)

PS - Ah, that's a little private, don't you think? *giggle* Lucky? Hmm...probably.

PPS - 'Course not. It's not every day such a suave man PM's me and like I said, makes a cute little pic of my butt!

You do any writing?

Jenna woke up feeling completely refreshed, getting out of bed and changing into white boyshorts, a pair of skinny jeans and a red short-sleeved shirt. She bent over the stool (in front of her mirror) and brushed her hair, picking up her eyeliner with the other hand. She quickly applied her make-up, pulling her hair back into a ponytail.

She grabbed a pop-tart from the kitchen as she ran through, peeking out the blinds to see if her ride was there yet. Matthew came up behind her and grabbed her waist, picking her up as he tickled her. "AHH! NO!! I justtt...aahahhhhh...did my hair!" she squealed, biting his arm.

"FUCK!" he let her fall onto the couch, as he grabbed his arm with his right hand. "Ow, what was that for? I was just playing!"

"I don't like playing! You were tickling me." she yanked down her shirt, adjusting her ponytail. That's when she saw Scott in the driveway. "What the hell..." she looked at her phone, where a text was sitting from him.

"Baby girl, tell your brother I'm taking you to school. We're playing hooky." She grinned widely. This was becoming one exciting week.

"Hey, Scott's dropping me at school. See you tonight." and with that she was out the front door, down the steps, and into his car. This time she didn't hug or kiss him though, she was too curious of what he had planned.

"Hey sweetheart..." he leaned over and kissed her cheek. "We're going to a concert. We've always wanted to do that together, right?" Her eyes lit up as he spoke,

"Who?!"

"You'll see." his hand came down on her thigh as he drove with his left hand. "Why are you wearing these?" he yanked at the materiel a little bit,

"I didn't know we would be going out! But I look okay, don't I?"

"Yeah, you look beautiful as always. I'll buy you a t-shirt there, anyways." he grinned, leaning over to kiss her at the red light. She cupped his face, kissing back. After the night before, she was feeling especially frisky. As she pulled away, she let her hand squeeze his hardening cock through his jeans, giving him a look he knew all too well.

"Girlfriend"S" as in plural? I feel like such a slut now, G. Actually, I'm an entirely proper one-woman man ... or would be if only I could find that one woman. ^-^

On privacy, I stand corrected. I'm nothing if not discreet. It's just that I keep a personal journal of men I envy, and whoever's in the pic with your lovely self, well, he just made the list.

Can't wait to see your stuff ... uuuhhh ... meaning your writing of course. I have a couple poems on the site here, bits of a novella I'm working on. There are also two mostly done short stories. Would love your feedback especially on the "Michigan Wolverines" story. (Death to OSU!)

Jason flipped open his phone to read the text. Waiting for me?

He sighed. She knew him too damned well. The latest in a series of texts caught him exactly where she knew he would be: at home, waiting restlessly for her arrival. Sara had sent him teasing notes all day:

Went shopping. Hope u like. Included had been a photo, blurry (no doubt intentionally, Jason grumbled) of what looked to be an incredible pair of pumps. He’d gotten that one in class - which she also no doubt knew – and had found himself too distracted to follow any of what was being said around him.

Shower thoughts: dripping wet in my meeting today, had caught up with him in Starbucks. Jason imagined her sitting in her chair at work listening to some dumb report, panties soaked while she slid one finger up and under that incredible skirt of hers and along her slit. The poem he’d been working on was utterly lost. Amy had tried to peer over his shoulder to read the text, no doubt having noticed his bugged out eyes, or faster breathing, or whatever had given him away. He’d snapped closed the phone just in time to see Claire cock one eyebrow at him, grinning slyly. Denis noticed nothing; he was going back and forth between scrutinizing his screen and dashing off quick notes.

This weekend? had been the only damper on his mood. Her reminder about going to visit her folks made his palms sweat. (Truth be told, he adored Sara’s mom. Second generation Japanese, she was unbelievably gracious and also incredibly sweet and warm. Mr. Coyne, though …) The text lingered less than thirty seconds on his screen before a new one arrived: No cuddles there :-(. Gotta be busy til then.

“Oh you clever girl,” he’d smiled aloud, drawing a strange glance from the old black man sitting next to him on the subway. “My, umm, my girlfriend …” Jason had begun in spluttering explanation. The man simply grunted and looked away, leaving Jason to his brief embarrassment, turned almost immediately to raging curiosity over her “be busy.” What in God’s name was she planning?

So it was that for the second Thursday he ditched his weekly game of pick-up hockey and stayed home. He had no idea what Sara was up to, but if she decided to get home early, there was no way he was going to risk losing some time with her. He’d been nursing an on-again-off-again erection the entire day, ever since she said she’d removed her panties in fact, and he desperately needed taking care of. So he waited.

“Oh, you’re such my bitch,” Sara grinned when she walked through his door to discover him sitting in his lounger with nothing done around him.

“Shit!” Jason breathed, drinking her in. “Yes, MA’AM.”

She stood in the doorway, hand on one cocked hip, her briefcase held languidly by her side in the other. Her dark eyes glittered behind a pair of reading glasses … God only knew from where she’d gotten them. A tight, gray, pinstripe business jacket clung to the contours of her body except where she’d undone three buttons in the front – just enough to mark her cleavage and to highlight the small jade teardrop pendant he’d hung around her throat on the last anniversary of their first date. The grey miniskirt from this morning was riding high on her legs, and she’d donned a pair of gorgeous nylons that ended mid-thigh in elaborate motifs of flowers and vines. He’d barely time to register this when his eyes drifted down to her pumps: stilettos at least five inches high, a black as glossy and rich as the long ponytail she’d pulled her hair into.

Secretary gone bad.
Corporate slut.
Either way she was his.

“Honey,” she purred as she crossed the room and climbed onto his lap, straddling him. “I’m home.”

“Jesus, baby,” he murmured before pulling her small body against his to run his tongue down her throat. He heard her sigh and took it as his sign to undo another button of her jacket. To cup one perfect breast, clad in a sheer charcoal bra while his mouth drifted toward the other.

“Wait! Wait, Jayce!” she sighed. With a low moan of frustration, he leaned back and looked up at her. Sara merely looked at him for a long second before saying in quiet shyness, “I want to try something.”

Jason said nothing, struck dumb by curiosity and by the strange intensity of her gaze. She dropped her eyes after another second and leaned forward to whisper in his ear. Jason shivered once, although whether from the warmth of her breath across his ear or the words she spoke, he couldn’t tell. She leaned back smiling uncertainly.

For Jason’s part, he knew he looked like a lovestruck puppy. “Are you … are you sure, baby? It, like, hurts.”

For answer, Sara merely bit her lip and nodded. Jason’s body screamed for him to seize her on the spot and give her, without another thought, exactly what she’d asked for. Instead he waited a few seconds, offering her in the silence a chance to reverse herself. What his girlfriend thought or pictured in those few seconds he’d never know, but whatever happened in that space of time no longer mattered to him when she finally whispered, “Take me to bed.”

Jenna and Scott drove pretty much in silence. The sexual tension that was so thick, they could almost taste it. Jenna kept rubbing her hand up his thigh and his hand rested on the headrest behind her head. They finally got to the concert hall, and Jenna got out of the car, expecting Scott to start walking into the entrance. But instead he came around to her side of the car, pressing his body into hers, grabbing her hair gently on both sides.

"Hey baby, you gonna stop teasing me now?" he kissed her deeply, grinding his erection into her, picking her up, pushing her against the car, her calves resting on his hips. Suddenly a car pulled into the space next to her, screaming out the window,

"Get a room!!!!"

Scott pulled away quickly, letting Jenna slide down, grabbing her hand. "Let's go." he rumbled, his voice thick and deep. They walked off towards the entrance, where people were gathering in long lines. They got in line, Scott standing behind her, his arms wrapped around her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time Scott dropped Jenna off, she could barely talk or walk. She was exhausted, her feet hurt and her throat felt like it'd been cut open from screaming so much. The concert had been absolutely amazing, but Jenna was glad that Scott was there to protect her. He carried her inside, knowing her parents and brother were alseep. He set her down in her bed, kissing her forehead. "Love you."
"Mmm, nooo, don't go." she pulled his hand to sit down on the bed, and he leaned down to kiss her. She kissed back, cupping his face and nibbling on his lower lip, drawing a low moan from him. "Kay, you can go now." He growled, covering his body with hers, causing her eyes to fly open. "Mmmm?"
And then she was awake.
The next morning Jenna slept through the school day, waking up to her brother yelling at her. "What?"
"You missed school!"
"Whatever, get out of here." he rolled his eyes at her and left her room, leaving her to get out of bed and walk over to he computer, loading Firefox and logging into Words-Worth. She opened her PM box, smiling as she rubbed her eyes.
“Mr. Rush, can you substitute at Washington High School today?”
Jason groaned. The night with Sara had been unbelievable but pretty … strenuous was the word he finally settled on. Getting a wake-up sub call at five in the morning was definitely low on his wish list. He wanted to lay in bed with Sara for the whole day – or at least until she went back to her apartment to pack for their weekend in Chicago with her folks. (She’d taken both today and Monday off from work, a reward to herself for her work on the IT bid.) He wanted to make her breakfast, to bathe her, to rub her feet. He wanted to treat her right.
But the rent came due once a month. And the electricity bills needed paying. And their weekly take-out cost money. And he wasn’t getting a free ride in grad school. And … and … and …
“Sure. Yeah, I’ll be there,” he grunted and hung up. He stroked Sara’s hair once and rose to shower and dress. He knew he should throw on something like dockers and a dress shirt, but today of all days – after last night, and looking forward to tonight’s club meet, and the long drive south tomorrow – he just wasn’t feeling it. “Besides, they’re desperate,” he said aloud as he pulled on a pair of jeans and a polo shirt. “Doubt they’re gonna send me home over a dress code violation.”
He knew it was a pretty shitty attitude. He knew it would most likely extend into his classroom performance, but the teenagers at Washington High simply weren’t high enough on his “importance” agenda today.
“Call you later, beautiful,” he whispered into her ear before jotting a note and leaving his apartment.
Jenna was absolutely grinning when she sent her PM to Dragon, only then feeling a pinge of guilt. She loved Scott, didn't she? She shrugged it off, telling herself she wasn't even making as much as a date with the guy!
With that, she got up, making her way into the bathroom for a shower. She felt her nipples get hard as soon as she got naked, knowing it wasn't just the cold air. But as she ran the water, she decided to wait until she was out.
She took her time in the shower, with her washing and shaving, until she was satisfied she was all clean. Then she rinsed off, turning the water off as she got out, dripping all over the rug as she looked in the mirror.
She dried off in front of the mirror, admiring her smooth, pale skin, firm breasts and cute, pert ass. She squeezed two handfuls of it, giggling. Then she made her way quickly to her room, getting in bed.
She was instantly horny again, her nipples peaking and she could feel the wetness on her pussy lips. She sighed pleasurably as she reached for her little toy. It was a thin vibe, one big enough to make her feel good, but not enough to "take her virginity" so to speak. She rubbed it along her slit, turning it on to tease herself. Goosebumps popped up along her thighs as she felt the sudden, intense pleasure against her clit, her hips jerking.
"Aahh..." she whimpered as she slid it inside her in one stroke, leaving it there to send waves of pleasure up her body. "Uhmmm..." she hissed in pleasure, starting to pump it in and out slowly, her other hand using the juices dripping down her cunt to rub her clit in tiny circles.
It wasn't long before Jenna was moaning, eyes shut tightly, on the edge of orgasm. She bit her lower lip so hard she thought it might bleed as she came, came all over her fingers and the toy. "OhGodOhGodOhGod..." she squealed, her little hips and ass bouncing as she rode her orgasm out the entire way.
Finally she came down, managing to twist the vibe off, pulling it from her dripping cunt, and up to her mouth. "Mmmm..." she whispered, sucking it clean.
"I should probably get ready soon."
Thank Christ the day had been uneventful. He’d been lucky to fill in for a social studies teacher who was looking at retirement this year. As a result, the guy’s daily routine was to assign kids to read a couple of pages in their textbook and answer questions. He’d been doing it all year, and the students seem to have fallen into the routine. It was one that allowed Jason the luxury of writing and checking his various websites. If it gave him a little too much time to think about this weekend with Sara’s father, well, that was compensated for by the time he got to anticipate the W-W meet tonight.
Sara was waiting for him when he got home. “I thought you’d be packing until later,” he said as he pulled a couple of beers from the ‘fridge and started filleting a piece of lake trout he’d bought on the way home.
“Naaaa,” she smiled as she cracked both beers and placed his on the counter near his hand. “Just threw some stuff in a bag.” She paused a moment before going on. “Jayce, you don’t really mind, do you? I mean, I know you and my dad …”
She left the rest unspoken. They both knew she need say no more. Her father, Sgt. Daniel Coyne of the Chicago PD, was very definitely a protective daddy. He was never openly hostile, but his steady gaze perpetually spoke the unspoken: “I KNOW you’re not sleeping with my little girl.”
Given Jason was, in fact, doing just that, made their encounters somewhat nerve-wracking from Jason’s perspective. He knew he wasn’t the first. Sara made it clear that her father had chased off every suitor his daughter had dated. It went unspoken, but Jason understood that part of the reason Sara adored him so much was in his willingness to confront the dragon that was her father … a fact that made those confrontations no easier.
Grabbing a pepper to slice down, he chuckled ruefully. “Last night isn’t going to make things easier, you know.”
She winced. “Yeah. Bad timing, babe?”
“Definitely NOT,” he grinned, placing down the knife carefully to pull her into his arms.
“Was it … okay?” she asked uncertainly. “I mean … considering …”
“It was fine, gorgeous,” he offered looking into Sara’s eyes. In truth, their first attempt at anal had been less than spectacular. Awkward and painful for Sara, they’d had to abandon the idea after trying for thirty minutes or so. The lovemaking afterward had been tender, and Jason had ended the night contented … but Sara was Sara, and Sara was a perfectionist. The same thing that made her so good in the business world made her uncertain now.
“We can try again, Jayce. I mean … I want to try again …”
In answer, Jason simply kissed her. “Let’s do it at your folks’ house,” he joked after they’d broken.
“Nice idea, loverboy,” she smiled as she broke away from his embrace to change in his bedroom. “Think you can manage with daddy around?”
“OOWWWWWCH!” he yelled after her in laughter.
The thought re-occurred to him again, as they stepped out of the cab at “Electric Ladyland.” Sara had pulled on a tight pair of jeans and a simple white tank that accentuated all her contours. He noted that the jeans themselves highlighted perfectly the finer features of her ass, as he left the cab behind her. He waved at Claire who was waiting for them out front with her boyfriend Tony.
“Any sign of Denis?” Jason asked as they embraced.
“He was here when we arrived, yeah,” Claire said. She seemed surprised or vaguely confused as she spoke about their friend. Jason took her boyfriend’s hand while she continued. “He REALLY got into the club fast, though, after we arrived. I asked if he was going to wait for you guys, and he just kind of shrugged and went in. Something’s totally up with him.” Seeming to dismiss their mutual friend, Claire brightened immediately. “Hi, Sara!” she exclaimed, the two girls hugging.
“I’ll take that back,” Jason’s laughed as he slipped his arm around Sara’s waist and entered the club.
He had no idea how many Words-worthians were here tonight. When they’d started these bi-monthly meets (having swiped the idea from a bunch of New York posters who apparently met frequently), there were only about fifteen people who showed. The first meeting had been at the apartment of two forty-something members, Liz and Gary. Over the last two years, they’d all been forced to give up private meetings as the number of members who came out grew and grew. At their last – located in one of the upstairs rooms of “Java Nation,” a local coffee shop – there were over forty-five people. For this meeting, though, they’d been planning and advertising for several months. The club was full.
“This is gonna’ be fun,” Jason chuckled aloud.
“Yep,” Sara laughed at his side, poking him in the ribs. “LOTS of guys to dance with if I get bored.”
Jason squeezed her more tightly to him and walked down the stairs, faling into the rhythms of “Perfect Glitch” as it blared through the speakers.
Jenna got out of bed, walking to her closet, rubbing at her smooth stomach as she leaned in, flipping through her different tops. Nothing felt right. She picked up a light blue shirt that had lacy designs down the front of the top along the breasts. She shook her head, putting it away and grabbing a tight black top that cut down, showing a lot of cleavage. She took a deep breath, putting that too away.
She moved to her drawers, opening the bottom one to lookat her jeans. "God, this is rediculous." Then she remembered something. She picked up her phone, dialing her #2 speed dial.
"Hey girl."
"Hey, Steph. Are you busy?"
"No, why?"
"I've got this thing tonight, at that club downtown, you know the one with all the black outside? I never remember the name... It's a writers thing, though I'm sure there will be tons and tons of people there. There's...a guy...who I've been talking to. But that's not why I'm going!" she giggled, "I just really hope I get to see him. I'm sure he sent me some kind of message of what he'd be wearing or something..." she trailed off...listening to the laugh in her friend's voice, "What?"
"Babe, I'm there. This is cute. I can buy you drinks, finally. I'm so excited."
"Yeah, so do you think I could borrow that black dress of yours?"
"Oh, you bad girl! What about Scott?"
"I didn't say I was going to fuck him! Just hang out, you know."
"Okay, girl. I'll be there in 10. With the dress."
"Great. Can you do my hair?" Stephanie was a hairstylist and make-up artist, and a damn good one.
"Of course baby, you gotta look hot for your date." she hung up, laughing.
Jenna put on her best black bra and lacy black boyshorts, pulling them up her firm legs and perfect hips and ass. Then she sat down at her computer, refreshing Words-Worth. There was a PM, only containing one short paragraph.
"I'll be wearing a blue polo shirt, and I'd say that I'd bring a rose, but that would just be silly, right? How about I just tell you I have dark hair and I'll probably be the ONLY guy wearing a polo there? I might even find YOU, since you're the one with red hair. -Dragon
She giggled. She turned off her computer and ran to open the door for Stephanie. "Whoa, nice undies." Stephanie grabbed her tits softly, and Jenna's eyes darkened. Before she'd gotten with Scott, she and Stephanie had fooled around a bunch of times. Funny enough, Scott was one of the only guys who didn't like girl-on-girl action. Stephanie hugged Jenna, her hands cupping her ass.
"H-eeyyy...." she whispered huskily. She didn't want to get all hot and bothered before it was time for them to get to the club.
"I know, Jen, but I've missed being with you..." They'd hung out recently, so Jenna knew that she was talking about something else besides hanging out.
"Mmm..." she whimpered softly as Stephanie ran her hands up Jenna's sides, her mouth finding Jenna's ear. "Are we gonna...do this?"
"You're not gonna do anything." Stephanie said, leading Jenna upstairs and into her room. They had plenty of time before they needed to be at the club, even with all of the hair and make-up they planned on doing. Steph shoved Jenna down on the bed. "Take your clothes off." she ordered, and Jenna obliged, meeting her eyes.
"Lay back." Jenna scooted her butt up until she was lying comfortably in the bed, and Stephanie crawled on top of the bed, running her hands up and down Jenna's inner thighs. "God, you're gorgeous." she ran her tongue up Jenna's wet slit, causing her to emit a loud moan.
"The--door..p-please.." she moaned out.
"No." she looked back down, sucking softly on Jenna's clit as her fingers sought out her hole. She rubbed two fingers up and down her slit, before pushing them hard into her tight pussy.
"Ohhh, please. Please close the door, Steph. I...what if someone..."
"Shut up, you know you have a discovery fantasy. Last time we did this with the door open, you came all over my face just hearing someone walking around downstairs." with that, she flicked her tongue faster over Jenna's clit, pulling yet another load moan from her throat. "Yeah, that's right baby...let Steph make you cum." she raked he teeth gently over Jenna's clit as she sucked it.
"Oh, goddamn. Oh, fuck me..." she whimpered, as Stephanie fucked her fingers in and out faster and harder. "Oh, yeah. Mmmmmm.... Yes..." her hips bucked hard against Stephanie as she whimpered out the beginning of her orgasm.
"Yeah, fucking cum for me, you slut." she whispered, pulling her fingers out and fucking her hole with her tongue as Jenna came hard, all over Stephanie's mouth, "Mmm, yeah, cum for Stephanie, cum on my face." Jenna writhed, rubbing her cunt into Stephanie's face as she moaned, her fingers finding her own clit, pinching it hard.
Finally, she lay back, breathing hard. Stephanie grinned, standing up. "Get up, we need to get you ready." Jenna whimpered as Stephanie handed her the boyshorts. "Put them on." Jenna got off the bed, putting on the boyshorts and finding her bra, donning that too. Stephanie handed her the dress from the chair and slipped it on over her head.
"I'm gonna curl your hair. Sit down in front of the mirror, okay?" Jenna sat down and Stephanie kissed her neck, kneeling in back of her to plug in the curler. Then she brushed her hair out, smiling at her in the mirror. "You're gorgeous, really."
Jenna blushed, "Thanks."
__________________________________________________________________________
Thirty minutes later, Jenna and Stephanie were ready to go. They got in Stephanie's car and drove the fifteen minutes to the club, listening to the radio. Jenna was still recovering from her intense orgasm, feeling her wetness in her panties. She considered taking them off, but didn't want to seem slutty.
They arrived at the club, arm in arm. There was a massive line, but Stephanie pulled Jenna right to the front. "Hey." Jenna said to the bouncer, a friend of hers named Charles.
"Oh, hey ladies. Looking fine....Stephanie right?"
"Yep." he opened the rope, causing everyone in line to groan as they entered the club, looking around. Loud music blared and it was packed full of people drinking and dancing. They went past the bar, Jenna keeping an eye out for "Dragon". She was wearing a green bow in her hair, hoping her hair was visible even in the dark lights of the club. "Want a drink, baby girl?"
"Hell yes!" Jenna answered, bumping her hip into Stephanie's, laughing. She was starting to relax, even without the alcohol.
“Alright, Tony,” Sara said with a sigh, grabbing Claire’s boyfriend by the hand. “Let’s go dance.”
Jason smiled ruefully as the two of them headed for the dance floor. His promise had lasted all of ten minutes before he, Claire, and another friend of theirs were talking about Browning’s dramatic monologues. He’d tried to be good. He really had. If Alex – their mutual friend – hadn’t insisted that “Porphyria’s Lover” was about a mercy killing … well … You might have lasted a whole half hour the Sara-voice in his head informed him. He would like to have disagreed, but he knew he couldn’t.
“Sometimes I feel like a jerk for dragging Tony to these!” shouted Claire over the techno. Jason merely nodded. It was easier than shouting, and her statement needed no comment anyway. Not that Tony wasn’t a nice guy. He was older than the rest of them, being in his early thirties, and, like Sara, business was his calling, not art. Like Sara, he was something of an outsider at these meetings. Unlike Sara, though, Tony seemed to have little interest in the written word other than as it appeared in the Wall Street Journal. Truth to tell, Jason simply couldn’t understand what his friend saw in Tony, but it was a notion he kept to himself, not least because he suspected that the idea might contain a hint of jealousy on his own part. At the same time he was glad Sara had someone to hang with in just such moments.
“C’mon!” he shouted to Claire. “Let’s go look for Denis.”
His friend squinted and shrugged at him, before pointing to her ears.
“LET’S FIND DENIS!!!”
Claire nodded and took his hand, and they began to circle the outside edge of the crowd.
“Guuuuuuuuysssss!” They both turned to see one of W-W’s longest residents, Jimmy “Wordsmith” Kelly, role up in his wheelchair. Their age, Jimmy had been instrumental in first organizing these events, the fact of his disability mattering not the least when it came to organizing and attending their get-togethers. After brief hugs, Jimmy pointed Jason to the bathrooms. “Saw him in there!” he hollered to their question about Denis’s whereabouts. Jason merely gave him the thumbs-up and headed for the bathroom while Claire remained behind.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere! Any chance u make my night and show?
PS - Case you forgot: Electric Ladyland
Dragon
Jenna and Stephanie smiled at each other as they started to dance, the music lively and absolutely thrilling to Jenna, who had not been in many clubs or bars in her short eighteen years. She barely ever drank and had never done more than had a puff of a joint at her sixteenth birthday.
She bumped into someone, turning around to apologize. He was absolutely gorgeous, with dark hair and dark eyes, tall and handsome... and she was about to apologize and say something cute, when she noticed he was holding hands with another man. "Sorry about that." she muttered.
"No problem!" the man said, smiling, as he and his boyfriend danced off in the opposite direction. Stephanie burst out laughing, and Jenna soon followed. They walked up to the other end of the bar, where people had crowded all around to get drinks. When the bartender saw Steph and Jenna, he nodded at them.
"What can I get you two?" he said, winking, "On the house."
"Redbull and vodka." Jenna answered, quickly. She wanted to stick to something familiar. But Stephanie was obviously horny, with her current lack of boyfriend, because she leaned over the counter, her abundant cleavage pressing into it and said in a sultry voice, "I'll have Sex on The Beach..." she convienently left out the word "a" at the beginning of her order, intentionally working him up.
"I'll get you your drink." he said to Jenna, politely, and the turned to Stephanie, "And I'll see what I can arrange." he winked again, making Jenna and Stephanie their drinks, handing his number to Stephanie with hers.
"Thank you sweetie." she winked back, grabbing Jenna's hand and pulling her back onto the dance floor. That's when she got the text from Denis. She grinned and texted him back,
"I'm here with my friend...so yeah, I guess I've made your night! -Ginger
“Fucking Denis,” Jason muttered under his breath. Three guys were standing in front of urinals, but none were his friend. He had no doubt Jimmy got it right, just as Claire had done earlier, which left him the sneaking suspicion that Denis was dodging him. But why would he? Jason stopped to piss and considered. They’d all seen less of Denis for the past week. When they’d asked him about it, he’d merely talked about school work. “Fuck it!” Jason said aloud as he zipped his jeans. Denis was prone to weird moods. Same old.
When he got back out and over to Claire, he discovered that Sara and Tony had left the floor. They were all talking to Jimmy about his latest round of surgeries, a grim topic but one that he always made funny. It was the single biggest reason people gravitated to him, and there were few parties in which his wheelchair wasn’t surrounded by friends and listeners, and Jason had seen Jimmy leave a club more than once with a strange girl pushing his chair.
“Drinks on me!” Jason yelled as he approached. “Gotta’ make a promise up to my girl.” With the words, he slid his hand into the back pocket of Sara’s jeans and gave a gentle squeeze.
“Easy, tiger,” she crooned, standing on tiptoes to whisper into his ear. “Maybe later.”
“I won’t forget,” he whispered in reply, gently biting the lobe of her ear and bringing a giggle from her. “So what’ll it be?” he asked the others.
“Four Coronas and a Jagerbomb,” he said loudly to the bartender when he fought through the press of people to the jammed bar. (Leave it to Jimmy to be the hardest drinker of the lot.) He spotted a few familiar faces, but most were strangers … which didn’t mean they weren’t writers, too. Scanning down the bar to his left, Jason noted a pair of girls leaving the bar, drinks in hand. They were notable chiefly for their differences, one a striking redhead – if youngish looking, Jason thought – the other dark and small. The easy laughter they shared as they moved away and their clasped hands suggested a dynamic between them that made for a mental leer. Red likes to be on top, he guessed, letting his imagination toy with the image while he watched the girl check her phone and begin texting.
“Here you go, buddy.” The bartender’s gravelly voice brought him back to the scene at hand. Grabbing the drinks, he slipped the guy a healthy tip, having once dated a bartender, learning through her the positive benefits of generosity with the guy who was pouring your drinks.
When he got back to the crew, now grown to eight people strong while he slowly and carefully weaved his way through the crowd, he was immediately turned around by Claire’s voice: “THERE he is!”
Jason craned his neck to see where she pointed even while he carefully handed Tony a beer. “Well what the fuck?” he said wonderingly. His friend stood just to the side of the dance floor talking to the two bar girls. “Wait here,” he said to no one in particular and began working his way back. As he moved closer, he saw the brunette walk toward the dance floor with another guy. It was in the same moment that Denis noticed his approach. If Jason didn’t know better, he would swear his friend had actually jumped a little in startlement, but by now he was close enough that if Denis had any thoughts of leaving, it was far too late to act on them.
Jason waved, and as he did so, his gaze met the red-head’s. It was only then he noticed how fair she was, light skinned to the point of paleness he thought, but definitely not unattractive. She leaned into Denis saying something, glancing once over her shoulder toward Jason, and with her look, his mind went back to the girl in the photo from the week before. In a quick flash of lust, he felt his cock twitch.
“Friends of yours?” he asked Denis when he was close enough to be heard over the pounding music.
Jenna was checking her phone and turned around. Dragon was standing there, looking hot in jeans and the polo, as promised. He looked comfortable, and maybe a tad bit nervous.
"Hi there! I've been looking for you for a while, sweetie. Where have you been?" Stephanie took a hint and accepted a dance offer from a tall Puerto Rican man.
That's when another other guy, obviously his friend, came over. He was absolutely smokin. He had bright eyes, dark hair, and this charismatic, laid-back attitude he emanated. She'd never seen anyone like him before. One of the guys had a very tempting cologne on, and it was turning her on a little bit, her nipples hardening under her bra. Her eyes met the other guys'. She bit her lower lip, her eyes darkening.
That's when she leaned in for a hug from Dragon, hoping he wouldn't be too surprised, as she pressed her tight body into his arms, leaning on her toes to whisper, "You look very sexy, D. And um, if you don't mind...let's not shout out the fact that we met online. As far as I'm concerned, we met at Starbucks, or something not so controversial." She didn't pull away, instead putting her arm around his waist and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Jenna." she put out her hand, feeling a little tingle as the man took her hand.
When the girl wrapped one arm around his friend’s waist, Jason was instantly suspicious. Denis, God love him, was a notorious braggart when it came to his love life. As Jason took the girl’s hand with a smile, he thought, There’s no WAY he would have kept YOU hidden, sweetie. The girl was well above Denis’s standard fare; such a conquest would have been made known to Jason the day it happened. So what was the deal?
He decided to be frank. Denis already looked slightly green – even allowing for the colored stage lights that were now pulsing frenetically all around them. “Well, hi, Jenna!” he said brightly, keeping hold of the girl’s hand while he glanced up at Denis for a reaction. “I’m Jason. Denis’s friend. The guy he usually tells everything to.”
There was a warm intensity in the girl’s hand that seemed curiously at odds with the pallor of her skin. Jason found that he would’ve liked to hold her fingers a bare second more, searching for some way to get at the strange feeling that seemed to radiate from her through them. He released her hand, though, and looked directly at Denis.
“You’ve been holding out on me, big guy, not telling me about this young lady.”
“Ah … yeah … well … we met at Starbucks,” his friend replied uncertainly. “It was, like, two nights ago, so I didn’t really have time – “
Jason cut him off with a wave and a laugh before turning back to the girl. “Naaah. He was just afraid I’d steal you from him. I do that all the time with his girlfriends who look as good as you.”
The words were out of his mouth before he’d thought, and Jason was appalled. He’d meant to rattle Denis into letting something slip about his friend’s strange behavior, but this?? Had he really just flirted with this girl? At his friend’s expense? What the fuck was he thinking??
Jenna could see that Jason could and was seeing right through Denis' half-assed explanation for how they had met. Denis couldn't even keep it together long enough to settle his nerves and tell Jason something believable.
But she still felt the tingle in her hand and arm from shaking his hand. She wondered if she was imagining it or if he had felt it too. As Denis and Jason continued to share looks, she felt a little embarrassed. What had she done to deserve all of the attention. She tugged at the hem of her dress, which barely cleared mid-thigh.
The next words out of Jason's mouth startled her. She looked up at him, biting her lower lip to close her mouth, which had dropped open in surprise. She didn't know what to say. Normally she would come back with something witty, but the last thing she needed was anyone to know she was from WW. She wanted this night to be fun and peaceful. Then she noticed Jason and Denis looking at each other. Apparently Jason couldn't believe what he'd said either.
"Um, I think I should say thank you, but how about I go get some drinks for the three of us? I'll be right back." she made sure to glance at Jason, so he knew that his flirtation hadn't slipped under the radar.
Anything to get away from the tension that just got let out. she thought, as she slipped out from Denis' grasp and towards the bar. She knew the guys wouldn't move, especially Denis.* She ordered 3 beers, and reached into her purse to pay, when the bartender told her they were on the house. She glanced up, seeing the same bartender from earlier.
"She texted me." the bartender explained, referring to having given Steph his number.
"Awesome, thanks!" she pushed through the crowd back to Denis and Jason, hoping they'd spoken any words they needed to before her return.
Both of them watched the girl walk away, Jason searching wildly for something to say about what had just happened. When she reached the bar, Denis whirled on him.
“The fuck was THAT, Jayce?” he hissed.
Jason raised both hands before him. In the few seconds he’d been allowed to think, he’d considered going on the offensive, of making his own accusation and pushing Denis harder to the wall. He knew, though, that whatever might be going on with his friend – and with this Jenna girl – his own statement to her had been wildly over the top. To deny the truth of that fact by attacking Denis was only to make things worse. For, whatever she might mean to Denis now – tonight – Jason had been Denis’s friend far too long to let trouble over some girl come between them.
“Look, I don’t even know, D,” he offered apologetically. “It was a total blurt. Y’know, me and Amy and Claire … well … you haven’t been around as much recently, and we were just trying to figure out what –“
“How about you ‘figure out’ that it’s none of your fucking business, brother?” Denis said, twisting the final word into Jason. “How ‘bout that?”
“You got it, man. I’m just – “
“No. FUCK your ‘I’m just!'” Denis was glaring at him now, his chest mere inches from Jason’s own. Glancing over toward their crew, Jason saw that almost all were craning to look past the crowd around them to watch himself and Denis. Claire and Sara were beginning to rise from their stools. He shifted his gaze back to his friend, who was, if anything, standing closer now.
“Look,” Jason said evenly, resisting the impulse to simply shove his friend onto his ass. “I’m sorry, Den. I was out of line. Whoever this girl is, she’s got nothing at all to do with me.”
Looking over Denis’s shoulder, Jason saw that the red-head was trying to pay the bartender. “Let’s just chill. She’s coming back in a minute,” he offered, nodding past Denis as he said it. His friend glanced briefly over his shoulder, then took a step back. Still, he said nothing as he returned his gaze angrily to Jason.
“Are we cool?” The girl had turned from the bar, several beers in hand and was beginning to weave her way back to them. “Den! Are. We. Cool?”
Jason watched Denis take a long breath, his shoulders relaxing as he blew it out. “Yeah … yeah we’re cool.” He paused before adding, “So help me, God, though Jayce, if you even think about –“
This time it was Jason who cut off his friend. Throwing one arm over the bigger man’s shoulder, he pointed to Sara, who was now approaching with Claire at her side. “See that, D?” he asked with a smile. “It’ll be a cold day in hell before your sloppy seconds trump that.”
“Jayce,” Sara said as the two girls came within earshot over the pounding bass of the music. “Are you two – “
“Everything’s great, babe,” Jason smiled, sweeping her into his arms. “We’re great, right Den?”
He turned back, still holding Sara, just in time to see Jenna arrive, two beers in one hand, a third in the other.
“Yep,” his friend replied, sliding his hand (somewhat hesitantly, Jason thought) around Jenna’s waist. “Just great, Jayce.”
Jenna felt Denis slide his hand around her waist and would have liked to pull away, but didn't want to make him look bad in front of his friend, who was obviously more of an alpha dog than he was. So she played the cute girl role and snuggled into his side, handing one of the beers to Jason and checking out the girl that was with him. Denis took the second beer from her hand and pinched her waist as he offered to open hers.
"Nah, I'm good." she opened it herself, grinning. No guy ever made her feel inferior. "I'm Jenna." she said, offering her hand to Sara.
"Sara." they shook briefly, and both dropped their hands. Claire took Jenna's hand a little more cheerfully,
"I'm Claire. And I loveeee your hair! Is it natural?"
Jenna blushed, "Wow. Thank you. Yeah, it's natural." She glanced up at Denis.
"Who wants to dance?" she asked the question generally, but was looking at Denis, hoping he wouldn't turn her down. Scott didn't like to dance at all, so whenever she went to a club, she took advantage of guys' offers to dance, but that was it.
For a moment, Jenna wondered if Denis was really a good guy. He seemed like it. He wasn't cocky and hadn't even hit on her. Jason had been the only one to comment on her looks so far. Suddenly Jenna felt out of place, wondering if she should have come. Denis was obviously really close with these guys, and she wasn't even his date.
She glanced over at Jason, wondering if he could see her discomfort.
They’re not together. It was a thought that came to Jason with the force of insight. He wasn’t sure how he knew – something in the exchange of looks between them maybe. In their body language. In the way the girl, Jenna, continually glanced at him as if looking for … approval? Interest? He couldn’t put his finger on it. But he felt certain that whenever and however Denis and the red-head had come to be together tonight, they were not a pair.
Yet. This, too, came in a flash. Jason didn’t know how to feel about it this, a fact that caused him vague anxiety. When Jenna suggested the dance, Denis – naturally – leaped at the chance. Jason begged off, “his other beer waiting for him back with the guys.” He glanced meaningfully at Claire as he made his excuse, and she, too, declined. Developments here needed discussing.
Sara, as keenly attuned as always to Jason’s movements and moods, instantly caught and recognized the exchange of looks between the friends. She also understood its meaning. They would be talking … again. Rolling her eyes at losing Jason – again – to “lit chatter,” she piped, “I’d love to dance, Jenna!”
Jason watched the three of them walk away before touching Claire on the sleeve. They didn’t bother to speak on the way back to the rest of their friends. Even if the music weren’t intensely loud this close to the dance floor, whatever they said would want to be heard by the rest anyway. When he stood next to Jimmy again, Jason looked back to the floor, Denis had a huge smile on his face. He was surrounded by girls, the brunette friend of Jenna’s apparently having decided to ditch her last dance partner and rejoin Jenna. Jason took a long pull on his beer and watched them, his attention divided between Sara and Jenna. They were dancing next to each other, not with each other exactly, but close enough to suggest a kind of intimacy that generated a brief, but distinctly pleasurable image in Jason’s mind.
He wasn’t sure what he felt about imaging Jenna and Sara together – not even in the briefest of moments – but in the end he dismissed it with a mental wave. Jenna was cute, but it wasn’t really her he was fantasizing about. It was Sara, now gliding sinuously, her jeans highlighting every movement of her body. Jenna was … well she was just some girl.
His thoughts at ease, he turned to Claire who was watching the dance, too.
“So whaddya think?” he said.
Jenna was having a blast. She hadn't expected dancing to be so much fun. Not only was Denis dancing with her, but Sara was there too and Stephanie had ditched her gu to come back and dance with them. Denis danced behind her, his hands lightly on her hips, his body not pressed right into hers. She was glad of this, she wasn't sure how she felt about him yet. Sara danced next to Jenna, and Jenna smiled over at her as she did. She was so beauiful and thin and...she flowed on the dance floor. Stephanie was all over some football stud, dancing up on him, as she usually was.
Stephanie and Jenna's favorite song came on, so they pulled away from their partners to dance together, swinging their hips and occasionally rubbing up on each other.
After a dance or two, and a few more drinks, Denis had gotten a little bit more comfortable, because his body pressed into hers as they danced, his hands exploring her stomach a little bit. She liked the attention a lot, and when he leaned down to kiss her, she was going to let him. That was when she glanced over at Jason, a fluttering in her stomach as she met his intense gaze.
"Uhmm..." she pushed her hand up against his chest lightly, even though she felt bad about rejecting him in plain view of Jason, and probably the rest of his friends. She leaned up to whisper in his ear, "I'm sorry. Not yet...maybe next time." she grinned sweetly and twirled off towards Jason and the bar. She needed another drink. She was giddy and drunk already, and was surprised she'd actually stopped Denis from kissing her.
It was only because you looked over at Jason. Good move, you'd never forgive yourself if you cheated on Scott with Denis. she thought as she walked up to Jason, asking him if he'd get her a beer. The cute bartender was gone, and she didn't have her fake ID.
