Writer's dilemma

“Corona, please?” Jason yelled to the bartender as he peered around the increasingly crowded room. With a simultaneity that rang of synchronicity, Jason felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He glanced down but didn’t bother to open the phone or even check it. It could only be Sara.

“Make it a tequila and a chaser, wouldja?” he shouted at the bartender who was just then popping the cap from the beer. The guy eyed him dubiously. “What?” Jason shrugged.

“How’d you get here, buddy?” It was only then, focusing on the barkeep, that Jason recognized him as the guy who’d been serving him drinks since he’d arrived.

“Taxi,” he replied simply, to which the bartender’s eyebrow raised in doubtful question. “Taxi,” Jason repeated firmly. “It’s not gonna’ change from you lookin’ at me either.” Jason didn’t know whether to be embarrassed or pissed off that the guy seemed about ready to flag him. Sure he’d had a few and gotten into an argument, but jeez …

But when the barkeep slid the shot and bottle in front of him, he merely smiled and raised the tequila with a cheerful “slainte!” before knocking it back and scanning the room again. It was only looking across the bar and past the bartender that Jason spotted Claire. She and Amy had apparently returned to the crew and were now talking animatedly, with Jenna as their focus.

“Great,” he muttered, starting in on the beer. “Probly going over evry secret of my love life.” Taking another drink, he wondered why that should bother him. Sara and he were certainly no secret. Jenna had met his girlfriend in fact … so why did the idea of Jenna knowing more – knowing they’d fought - bring this slightly queer twist to his stomach? He watched her closely as Denis put a beer in her hand and as she raised it to her lips. He noted the line of her throat, and, as if she’d known, the little redhead looked across the bar towards. He had no idea whether she’d seen him staring at her or not, but he lifted the bottle quickly, masking his gaze before looking away toward the dance floor.

Why was he so bothered about all this?

“You should definitely talk to Claire.” His reverie cracked, he turned to find Jimmy behind him, looking up at him in concern.

“Yah, I know,” Jason sighed before taking another swallow from the beer. “Jus waitn for ‘r to finish talking.”

“Uuuh … you okay, Jayce? You don’t sound like yourself.”

“Me? Couldn be better, James! Coud. Not. Be. Better!” Jason enunciated the last words carefully, in case Jimmy had had too much to drink and wasn’t following clearly. “Jus waitn for ‘r to finish talking.”

“You know you … just said that, Jason.”

“I know! B’cause you just asked it!” Jason was pleased with the cleverness of his reply. He wished he had his laptop. He knew there was a poem waiting to be written, and he was in just the right frame of mind to compose something memorable. He looked across again for Jenna, but spotted her walking away from the bar towards the dance floor, several people in tow, Amy among them. Claire remained at the bar nursing along her drink.

“Goldn opportunity!” Jason exulted loudly to his friend. “off to talk t’ Claire!”

“Right, good luck with that, buddy,” Jason heard from behind him as he set sail across the room.

Jenna danced with Denis for two songs, and she knew he could sense her discomfort, "Are you okay with what happened the other night?" he asked her suddenly, as the second song ended. "I thought you really liked it, but you've basically been ignoring me ever since and it seems like you're really uncomfortable with being around me now." He held her hand gently. Images flashed through her head as she finished her second beer,
"Um, I'm fine. I just still have a boyfriend and I'm concentrating on so many different things in my life. Dealing with boy drama isn't at the top of my list. I came out tonight to have fun!" she smiled and twirled off towards the bar.

Before she even had to ask, the bartender had offered her two shots of tequila, which she took from him gladly. She smiled at him and knocked them both back, wincing slightly. "Mmm." she walked off, back towards the girls. "Hey, Amy!" she called out, pulling her onto the dance floor, along with a few other girls she didn't know yet. Amy was happy to dance with Jenna. Her night had been stressful, and she too had come out to have fun.

Amy and Jenna started out dancing quite innocently. They were laughing a lot and being silly, but as the alcohol started to affect Jenna, she started to pull Amy closer and closer.

"You're so cute, you know." she whispered to her as they grinded on each other, Amy's hands on Jenna's sides. Amy blushed,
"You are too. I can see why Denis likes you."

Jenna leaned in and whispered, "Let's not talk about boys right now, huh?" she stuck out her tongue and pulled Amy in closer to her. The last thing Jenna wanted this drunken, social night to be was a "girls night" where the girls discussed their current crushes and boy dilemmas. Jenna wanted to get fucked up and dance.

Amy smiled, "Sure! Whatever you want!" she was very amiable, and wanted Jenna to like her. She had only meant the words as a compliment, nothing more. But she could see Jenna was sensitive about the issue of Denis.

They were both well aware of how many people must be staring at them, but they chose not to look around. Both girls were focused on each other and the heat they were producing between them. After three or four songs had gone by, Jenna decided she needed another drink. She grabbed onto Amy's arm, giggling, "Wannaaaa see if someone wants to buy us shots?" she slurred slightly. Jenna had a small body and not a lot of tolerance built up to alcohol. She was already pretty drunk at this point, but another shot seemed like a great idea.

“What do you want, Jason?” Claire sat at the bar watching the dance floor, refusing to turn to him. He knew she must have seen him leave the other side of the bar and start to come over, and he had little doubt she’d watched him from the corner of her eye while he approached. He’d felt good coming over because … well … they were, like, best friends, so she HAD to forgive him.

Now Jason cringed, stopped for a few bare seconds by her words before moving next to Claire anyway, trying to breeze by her comment, opening with a simple “Hey.” He set his beer next to her drink on the bar and leaned close to her with a grin. “Gin and tonic?” he asked innocently, indicating her glass.

“What?” she said angrily, ignoring his question and twisting in her chair to face him.

“Okay … so …” he thought hard about words, trying to find the ones that could make thirty minutes of her anger disappear. “ … so … I’m sorry.” It was lame. And he knew it was lame, but still …

Claire gazed coolly at him for a few moments before turning to study the dance floor again, lifting her glass and taking a drink from it before finally answering. “Fine.”

“Oh come ‘n, Claire. I fucked up, a’right?”

“Yeah, Jason!” she whirled back to face him. “Yeah you did.”

He lifted his beer and looked down into the mouth of the bottle but found no ideas. This was turning out to be harder than he’d thought. “’Kay, so - ”

“And you didn’t ‘ditch’ me!” she went on, plowing through his second weak attempt at apology as if he’d said nothing. From the corner of his eye, he saw her twist back again to face the bar. “It just didn’t work out.”

“Claire, c’mon, I didn MEAN that. I was jus … really … mad.” He ran his fingers through his hair, blowing out a sigh. “I mean … I was jus … really … “

“It HURT, Jason,” she said quietly. “Do you know that? It really. Fucking. Hurt.” Her voice was barely audible above the music, and he saw tears standing in her eyes, small glittering rainbows under the strobes. He followed her gaze onto the dance floor and the uncaring jubilance there.

Jimmy was out there now. Denis. Other friends. And dancing closely together, Jenna and Amy.

“I know … sorry Claire. ‘S jus that Amy - ”

“Goddammit, Jason!” she snapped. “Amy was JOKING. I know you’re upset about Sara, but it’s AMY, for God’s sake! And if you think I’m not going to defend my own sist –“

“Well then defen’ her, goddammit, but don’ get all pissed off when I defen’ ME! I don’ know why she even has to talk about me an’ Sara, an’ I don’t know why … ” He heard his words beginning to run together into a hopelessly tangled mess, but he was rolling now, feeling good. “Wha’s it got to do with her? Why’s she bringing it up? Why’s she - ”

“Oh for God’s sake! Jason, YOU brought it up! And aren’t your friends SUPPOSED to tell you what they think? We’ve ALWAYS told each other when we’re acting stupidly! What the hell is going on with you that this is different? Jesus Christ you’re starting to act like DENIS!”

The last stung, leaving Jason glaring and empty of words. He was acting nothing like Denis, he insisted to himself. But as he turned and looked out at the floor, his eyes falling again on Jenna and Amy, he couldn’t help remembering Amy’s words from a week earlier: They’re fighting about Jenna.

“Fuck no! Absoluly not,” he insisted aloud to no one, taking another pull on the Corona.

“Oh my God! Exactly who are you TALKING to, Jason?” He turned to Claire who was looking at him now but who instantly raised her hands to stop him from saying anything more. “Forget it, Jayce. Just … forget it until you’re sober again.”

Shocked to his core at her accusation of drunkenness – one patently false! – Jason leaned in again. “S’okay, Claire! Jus’ stay outta my bus’ness,” he declared with a wave. “Sara an’ I are fine! Don’ need advice!”

His friend rolled her eyes at him, now finally talking in exasperation rather than anger. “Fine!” she replied, turning back to watch their friends.

“Fine!” he said dropping down in the chair next to her and finishing his beer in a single long swallow. The words weren’t much but they were a start, one he celebrated by ordering a beer for each of them.

“Fine!” Claire said simply.

Amy and Jenna were heading to the bar after seeing the argument between Jason and Claire die down. They had danced for another two songs after Jenna had suggested shots. Claire and Jason had seemed to be in a heated conversation, which they both were obviously watching out of the corner of their eyes, even while dancing on each other. Several guys had come up to the two girls as they were grinding hotly on each other, asking to cut in. They'd responded by looking at each other intensely, dancing to the beat, ignoring the men.

Although they didn't know each other that well, in the heat of the club and under the influence of alcohol, they were getting along fabulously. Almost as if they were a couple. Jenna blushed, thinking for only a moment what it would be like to be a girl's first. She doubted Amy had ever been with a woman. She just didn't seem the type.

But finally, after the alcohol had worn off just slightly, (and they had noticed the fight finally appear to be over) Amy had taken up Jenna's suggestion. She started singing softly, "Shots! Shots! Shots!" and Jenna's eyes lit up, "FINALLY!" she grinned, her face flushed, hair sticking slightly to the back of her neck. "Les go." Grabbing Amy's hand, she started walking to the bar.

"My sister still likes Jason, y'know." Amy said quietly, as the two girls smiled and nodded to the guys at the other end of the bar.

Jenna's eyes widened, "Still?"

Amy looked up at her and bit her lower lip. "Nothing. Never mind." and like that, it was as if she hadn't said anything. She threw back her shot, and smiled at Jenna. "I think I'ma take a moment outside, okay? You get back on the dance floor." Jenna took her shot and waved as Amy stepped outside.

She sat by herself for a little while, at the bar. Jenna smiled at the man who sat next to her, but told him quickly that she had a boyfriend and wasn't interested. Funny how "boyfriend" made guys run away like she was saying she had an STD or something. Only looking to get laid, she thought, shaking her head.

She glanced over at Jason, who sat silently next to Claire. For a moment, she wished Claire wasn't sitting there, so she could go over and talk to Jason. Her head spun. She was way too intoxicated, she realized. This was not good. She made her way over to the other side of the bar, "Hey Jason." she said, standing in front of him. "Hi." she greeted him again, before he could say anything, "You look really sharp, you know."

Having watched her half the night, Jason was surprised to be surprised by Jenna. In between attempts to engage Claire in conversation (“Soooo … no Tony tonight?”), he’d gazed emptily around, trying to locate some other “Dubyas,” a name one of the Words-worthians had hit on earlier in the night to wild applause.

He had noticed when Jenna and Amy left the dance floor by trying hard NOT to notice their asses, but then had lost them in the crowd by the bar. Now he found himself startled, both by her sudden appearance and her words. He had not even registered the second properly when he began to reply to the first.

“Jezus!” he laughed. “You scared th’ shit outta, me, creepn’ up like that. You’re like a ninja or somethin’ …”

It was only then he understood her compliment, and with a grin added, “ … only you look WAY bett’r ‘n black, gorgeous!”

From the corner of his eye, he thought he saw Claire pivot in her chair to watch the exchange, but he didn’t much care at the moment. Jenna was his good friend. And Jenna looked very good right then. And Jenna didn’t have a drink in her hand, which she really SHOULD have.

“C’n I buy you a drink, Jenna, my beauty? Someth’n to wet those lovely lips, p’raps?”

Jenna's eyes raised at how much Jason seemed to be slurring as well as his lack of censoring. He was very blatantly checking her out once he made it apparent that she had shocked him by appearing in front of him.

Jason continued on to tell her how great she looked, grinning in a silly way that made her have to bite back her own grin. Jenna pretended she didn't notice Claire watching them, and hoped that she would get up and leave. Wasn't it obvious he wanted to chat with her alone?

"Thank you." she replied, blushing. "T'be honest I've had quite a few drinks...but I could definitely use another. I'd love to let you buy me one." she giggled, sitting down next to him. She waited until he'd ordered a drink for her and then smiled slyly, "What's this about my lovely lips?" she batted her eyelashes at him. God, he was handsome up close. So. Handsome. She wondered briefly why such a young, talented guy was tied down to a serious relationship, that didn't even seem to be a good one.

Jason nodded approvingly when the little red took up her glass, answering her question as she took a sip. “Your lips!” he exclaimed in rhapsodic voice. He considered pointing skyward before going on, but decided against it. Too histrionic. “Oh! Men should write sonnets ‘bout your lips, Jnna! And your … dress, too!”

“Hasn’t Denis already done that?” offered Claire next to him. Even through the increasing buzz of his five drinks (or was it six?), Jason couldn’t miss the emphasis on his friend’s name. “You know? Your ’brother’?” she added pointedly.

“THAT is a fine question, Claire!” Jason declaimed loudly. NOW was the time for the finger, and he raised it, pointing it accusatorily around the room as if to locate his friend and target him. “And why HASN’T he written a poem about our friend Jenna’s lips and dress, Claire? Hmmmmm? He is REMISS!!”

Claire merely stared at him for a few long seconds. “Oh for Christ sake!” she finally snapped. “Why don’t you sober up?” Whereupon hhe rose from her seat and walked away in disgust.

With a giddy laugh, Jason watched her go. Things were back to normal. He turned to Jenna with a wink and let his gaze run over her again. He couldn’t help pausing where the sable of her dress gave over to the almost translucent paleness of the flesh of her thigh. He recalled having put his hand there once before, at the coffee shop … well no. It had been her knee, hadn’t it? He had WANTED it to be her thigh.

And all that’s best of dark and bright / meet in her aspect and her eyes. Like a cloud, the passage from Byron wandered through his thoughts, and at the same moment he felt his phone vibrate, as if signaled from afar and on cue by the girl with whom Jason had always linked the poem in his mind’s eye. He fished the phone from his pocket and squinted at the number.

“I’ssSara,” he announced brightly to Jenna before leaning in close, going on conspiratorially. “B’t we’re fighting at the moment. Call’er later.”

He jammed the phone back into his pocket with a grin.

Jenna watched in amusement as Jason argued drunkenly with Claire about Jenna's relationship with Denis. She doubted Jason would have given a second thought to her or her lips, had he been sober or had Denis been around to butt in. Nonetheless, she couldn't say she wasn't enjoying their conversation or being the subject of it.

Her eyes met Jason's, but she noticed he quickly averted his gaze, only to let his eyes slide down her body to her bare thighs. For a moment she remembered the incident at Starbucks where Denis hand had been on her leg and she'd wished it was his.

As she watched Jason fish out his phone, she saw the look in his eyes. "Are you really?" she said, smiling broadly, "Wanna talk about it?" she glanced around the club, which was much less crowded than it had been earlier, "I'm a good listener." she leaned forward, her full breasts pushing against the thin fabric and her cleavage very apparent. "Promise I won't tell a soul."

“No! No! No!” he waved at Jenna with his most engaging grin. “Tha’s secret. Jus’ a fight. Evrybody has fights. ‘Cept me an Sara … ‘cept this time …but thas only bcause of Maaaarrrk.” He stretched the word out in exasperated mockery and then smiled again at his new best friend.

“You’re a REALLY good friend, Jnna. You’re on my team. You an’ Denis. An’ the rest … well … fuck ‘em I say!”

He raised his bottle to the red, and they lightly tapped glass to glass. “If you’re sure,” she said with a smile, and Jason was a little sorry to note she leaned away from him, back into her chair. “But let me know if you change your mind.”

Jason gazed carefully at the girl while he threw back another mouthful of beer. Her own eyes had turned to watch the floor, and as he traced the lines of her silhouette with his eye, he couldn’t help wondering again who this girl was. Where she came from. Her work and her mannerisms sometimes spoke of hard fought experience. (He recollected with a flash that she’d lost her parents and lived with … a brother? A cousin? He couldn’t recall.) Yet, in some moments – laughing ones – she seemed young … Amy’s age at best.

He cringed at the thought of Claire’s sister. Apologizing to her would be another piece of business to take care of. But not t’night, he promised himself.

Tonight he would find out Jenna. That was the business, so he leaned forward, touching her knee to bring her attention back from the dancers.

“So why 're you with Den?” he blurted. It wasn’t the question he’d meant to ask at all.

Jason denied her offer to listen to his woes, and she realized she would have to get it out of him later. Somehow. Even if she already knew what happened, she wanted to hear it from him. She took another gulp of her drink, barely noticing the sting because of her level of intoxication. Jenna wobbled slightly, smiling broadly at him.

He seemed lost in thought, staring at her. She smiled, letting her tongue slick over her full, lower lip. Then his hand was on her knee, and she felt her stomach clench. The lightest touch from this man and she was jelly. She couldn't imagine what would happen if anything more happened between them.

"Um, what?" Her eyes widened, surprised. He had completely caught her off guard. The last thing she had expected was for him to ask about Denis. She scratched the side of her neck lightly, "I'm not. I mean, kinda. He's a good guy. He seems like he likes me a lot. I just...I dunno. I'm drunk." she giggled, "And it's loud in here, while we're trying to talk. Can we step outside for a few minutes?" she grabbed his hand, spreading his fingers out so they were spread out on her leg. "Just for some air. And I wanna get to know you."

“Air! Yeah! Great idea!” he exclaimed, as if the thought had sprung from his own head. He reached down and took her hand, resting lightly on his own, but somewhat regretfully. He liked the feel of her flesh under his fingertips, and when Jenna had spread those fingers, he’d felt an almost-ache of loneliness. It occurred to him that it had been over two weeks since he and Sara had …

The thought fluttered away on the bass of the music when he stood, Jenna joining him almost wobbly. As she shifted away from her seat, Jason barely had time to catch her when she stumbled, gripping her tightly, then hauling her up so that she stood close to him. In a breathless eternal moment he felt just how close, her breasts touching lightly against him.

“Close call,” he laughed.

“Stupid heel,” Jenna giggled, raising one leg to adjust the strap on her shoe. With her twist, Jason could follow the even line of her leg down to a pair of incredible pumps she wore. An anklet glittered just above the thin black strap of the shoe, accenting the delicacy of her foot and bringing into highlight the smooth muscle of her calf. He was briefly mesmerized by the sight, and with the hammerblow of insight he realized with giddy unease: he wanted her.

As he helped Jenna upright, smeared uneven thoughts roared through his head: It’s the booze … she’s with Den … don’t know her …

But through it all, the girl was there … and damned near in his arms …

And God help him, he wanted her.

With a soft curse of near despair he pulled Jenna hard against him.

And then he kissed her.

Now what the fuck do I do? he thought before drowning in the pulsing music, the scent of the girl, and the chain lightning of her lips on his.

Jenna was grateful for Jason's being sober enough to catch her when she slipped, and felt her cheeks flush. Was she really that drunk? But she just had to laugh at herself. She was here to have fun, right? And that's exactly what they were doing.

Hopefully. She looked at Jason under the lights of the club and it hit her hard that she'd been denying how attracted to him she really was. He had a girlfriend, though. And not a girlfriend like she had a boyfriend. He had a real, "adult" relationship. They had sex. They probably lived together or almost did.

But! Maybe...just maybe he was interested. Even a little. If he'd ever let her get close to him, maybe she could finally...

And all in a blur, she was being pulled up hard against Jason's body, and she felt a wet, electric thrill run through her lips as he kissed her. She blinked hard as they parted, almost as quickly as they'd met. What just happened? she thought. But before she could lengthen her thought out to anything more serious, she started to giggle. He was just drunk. And so was she.

She kissed his cheek softly, "Les go outside, c'mon." she grabbed his hand, noticing she felt a quite similar electric zing as they touched as she had when he had touched her lips with his own.

The cool air felt great on her hot skin as they exited the club, "Wow. It was hot in there. Feels great out here." she murmured, not letting go of his hand, staring at his chest. The top button of his shirt had come undone somewhere in the last few minutes and the hint of bare skin was oddly exciting to her.

Before she could stop herself, she reached out and undid another button, and then another, letting her warm fingers slide down underneath his collar. "That's bettur." she giggled again, patting his shirt as she took her hand away.

As Jenna unbuttoned his shirt, Jason closed his eyes in brief reverie. He could feel the delicate flutter of fingertips through the cotton of the shirt, and once, the soft scrape of a single nail on his chest. He bit back a quiet grunt, opening his eyes just as she slid the collar straight with a giggled, “That’s bettr.”

“Much,” he smiled and advanced on the girl. For split second he recalled the redhead in the photograph from weeks ago, smiling over her shoulder at him. Inviting him to take her. Jenna was the girl … or would be the girl …or … He didn’t give a damn about making sense of the thoughts. He just desperately wanted to fuck the little redhead in front of him, so he moved forward, bringing her back against the wall of the club, his hands on either side of her shoulders and then leaning in to pin her body between the wall and his own. He felt her heart against his chest, beating, he felt, a rhythmic counterpoint to the bass line coming through the wall against his hands. He leaned in to kiss her again, sensing people skirting around them, staring.

He didn’t give a shit. As he kissed her again, feeling the soft pout of her lips, he knew – knew! – that he’dkeep her here, THIS time putting his hand on her thigh, running it up the inside of her leg until he felt the softness under her skirt. She’d have only the briefest trimming of hair just above her pussy, deep sensual red. And he’d slide down and kneel in front of her and who gave a fuck who saw and he would slip the skirt high up her hips in front of the world and run his tongue over her pussy and she would moan just the same way Sara did and -

“Oh! Hey … uhhh … hi guys!”

Jason jerked from her violently, whirling to discover one of the Dubyas standing just behind them. Jason had talked to the guy a few times - had gotten his name at least once. (Robert? Ron? … fuck!) But the guy was clearly not interested in exchanging writing tips. If anything, he was more deeply embarrassed than the couple before him. Jason glanced to Jenna who was straightening her skirt

Jesus! Just how far had he gotten without realizing it???

“Yo! ‘Sup?” he smiled, recovering himself to the intruder while at the same time distancing himself by another step from Jenna. “Rick!” he declared, nearly shouting the guy’s name with his delight in remembering it. “So … you outta here, Rick?” he asked, waving vaguely toward the street and the taxis waiting at the sidewalk.

“Well … ummm … no, actually.”

Jason almost laughed he felt so bad for the guy. Rick could barely look at either him or Jenna. “I was just, you know, getting some air. Kinda’ hot in there …” His voice ended on a mumble and Jason couldn’t help noting that Rick stumbled on “hot.”

“Hot. Yeah,” he chuckled, this time looking brazenly at Jenna with a conspiratorial grin. Who cared if this other guy thought he saw something? Fuck him. “Yeah, thas why Jenna and I came out: Too. Fucking. Hot. Rick.”

By this time Jason was looking squarely at Rick again, but he thought he heard Jenna stifle a laugh next to him. “Ready to go back in?” he smiled to the girl, taking her hand … because that’s what friends did, after all. Held hands.

It was only after her flashing “You bet!” and with the distance of several yards from Rick, that Jason let his hand slide from her own to run it across her ass, removing it only to open the door of the club for her.

As Jenna released Jason from her grip, she couldn’t help but feel tempted to finish unbuttoning his shirt. Then she would want to slide it over his shoulders, and start kissing him. Better to leave it the way it was, not that he would complain in his current state of intoxication. They were in public, though!

Then he was pushing her back into the wall, pinning her between it and his warm body and she wasn’t saying anything. Her heart started to beat faster and she bit her lower lip hard. He was moving closer. She didn’t want him to stop. But they were in public! Denis could walk out at any moment. Or Claire. Then his lips were on hers again, and she didn’t care who was watching or who might catch them. Their lips were pressed together and their tongues met just briefly, and she felt the same electric jolt as she had earlier. She barely managed to bite back a moan, turning it into a soft, girly sigh. Her hands gripped the sides of his shirt much harder than she’d intended. The friction was definitely started to build--it was undeniable.

His hand was on her leg, and she started to feel it creeping upwards, pushing her skirt up just barely. She wouldn’t stop him. She didn’t care if -

“Oh! Hey … uhhh … hi guys!”

Suddenly Jason was letting her go, her head lolling backwards for a second against the wall. Some guy she’d never seen before stood behind them. Jason obviously knew him, but was having trouble remembering his name. Rick, she learned his name was, looked heavily embarrassed, though she thought that Jason should be more embarrassed than he. She straightened her skirt and shrugged, giggling a little.

“Yeah, it is AWFULLY hot in there,” she nodded, biting back a laugh and fanning herself with the back of her hand, leaning forward slightly so her tits were pressed together. Something about embarrassing the guy was just too much fun.

Jason took her hand and led her back inside, but not before letting his hand graze her ass. It was at that moment something slightly animalistic (and the intoxication sure wasn’t helping anything) turned on inside Jenna. She grabbed Jason by the belt loops, pulling him into her, so her back was yet again against the wall next to the bar. She leaned up into him, whispering hotly in his ear, “You’re playing with fire, and I’ve been trying sho hard to keep my hands off you…you’re not making it any easier!” It wasn’t a come on, it was the plain truth. Jenna had been struggling not to get too fresh with Jason the whole night, and now he was teasing her!

She let him go, looking into his eyes, waiting to see what he would do. But before he could do anything, she slipped out from her trap between the wall and his body, heading out to the dance floor. “C’mon. Dance with me.”

When Jenna slipped out from the loop of his arms that she had imposed on herself, Jason had nearly forced her back to the wall, the tease of her gesture and her words whispering in memory to him over the pulsing music of the club. He felt wild to finish in some way – ANY way – what he’d begun when he first kissed her. His blood sang and his groin ached desperately to feel the coolness of her fingers running its length. To feel her tongue roll over its now-full heaviness. Ultimately to sink itself into her, bringing both of them to groaning, frenzied completion …

But the near miss with Rick had punched through the tequila-driven haze of his thoughts, returning at least some fraction of his common sense. It would have to be enough to stave off the warm urgency of his body. So instead of satisfying himself as he wanted, he laughed with only the smallest leer, “I’m not the only one playing with fire here, Ginger.” And with the words he walked by her towards the bar, but making sure to let the fingers of one hand trail over her belly as he did.

(It was only later in the evening that it would occur to him that he’d given Jenna the name of quite possibly the most irritating bitch on Words-worth. He’d laughed aloud at the thought, but declined to answer Jimmy’s look of curiosity, waving off his friend with a “just a funny thought.” He’d have to tell Jenna about it. She'd laugh too.)

The rest of the night he spent watching Jenna, exchanging smiled glances. Chatting idly in front of the others, but always with the heady undertone of the shared secret. Always with the liquid fire of possibility that sprang from the press of flesh against flesh earlier, the delicate meeting of tongues. Once he’d even caught her coming back from the ladies’ room just as he was going into the men’s. He’d seized her hand as she walked by, but they each kept going, Jenna glancing back over her shoulder to meet his own backward look, their fingers trailing against each other until they’d be forced to turn around and face each other or release and continue on their separate ways. With a final squeeze heavy with promise, they’d let their fingers slide apart, and Jason retained just enough awareness not to ogle her ass as she strode back into the crowd. He almost laughed at the near impossibility of pissing because of the erection he carried with him that time and most of the rest of the night.

He felt good though. He thought his lust MUST be showing and it seemed there were times when no one could miss the giggles, the exchanges of looks, the brief encounters as they danced, yet even Denis’s hairtrigger jealousy went undisturbed. Maybe it was the argument earlier or maybe he and Jenna really were that good, or maybe everyone was just too damned drunk to notice, but by night’s end, nothing had been said or suggested in word or deed, and it was in such laughing hilarity that Jenna, he, Denis, and Claire (now Jason’s friend again after he’d made a fool of himself singing to her) piled into the back seat of a single taxi.

“C’mon, Ames!” Claire had laughed, urging her sister to join them, but the little blonde was not so easily mollified as Claire herself when it came to the events of earlier that night. And Jason couldn’t help the sneaking suspicion that Amy – of everyone in the club - had been eying the exchanges between himself and Jenna with only modestly concealed scrutiny.

“I’ll get the next, Sis. But totally … have fun,” she said with only a touch of lingering anger in her voice. Jason was unsure if she glanced between himself and Jenna as Amy delivered this line, but he shrugged it off with a chuckle, slamming the door closed and yelling Claire’s address to the driver.

She couldn’t deny that she liked Jason’s teasing, his constant touching of her throughout the night. The glances they kept sharing. The way they met at the bathroom; fingers caressing each other. Jenna couldn’t deny that she was thinking about doing other things with Jason, naughty things. Things that each of them should do with their own significant other. Things that Jason did with his girlfriend and would know EXACTLY how to do with Jenna. The thought of being with an older, experienced man sent shivers up her spine. The heat that they’d shared in the moments they’d been pressed up against each other was enough to tell Jenna how much chemistry they would have with each other in the bedroom.

In her drunken haze, she’d heard Jason call her Ginger, but brushed it off. It’s not like Jason would know that the nickname had bothered her or had been given to her by the biggest asshole on WW.

As Jenna danced with Claire and Amy and Denis, throughout the night, she found herself less focused on Jason. That was a good thing, as somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew that she shouldn’t be thinking of him the way she had been. But DAMN, had those kisses sent tingles all through her body. His hard body against her had put images in her head. Except instead of being pressed vertically against a wall, they were horizontal and he was pressing her into the bed. She felt achy between her legs and her nipples were pebbled and aching. The wetness between her legs wasn’t helping either.

She was glad that Denis hadn’t picked up on anything between she and Jason, the last thing she wanted was to start a fight between the guys. She was too drunk to be able to handle drama. Jenna was happy that she’d come tonight. The night had turned out to be incredibly fun…

…and not over yet. She told herself, smiling at Jason across their group of friends.

When they finally gathered outside, everyone except Amy piled into a taxi, squishing against each other. Amy glanced at them, hesitating before telling them she’d catch the next one and to have fun. Denis just laughed drunkenly, his arm around Claire’s shoulder. Jenna looked over at Jason and couldn’t help but hope that she might end up alone with him.

Denis laughed again as the cab driver drove towards Claire’s, who apparently lived quite close to the club. “We should continue this party at your house, huh?” he said, squeezing Claire’s shoulder. “Whaddya think, Jase? Jenn?”
“I…can’t! But you guys should.” Jenna said, smiling. “I’m probably going to call it a night.”

Claire shrugged, “I’m totallllly down!” she smiled, “Jase?”

Jason was looking out of the cab at the stars when the thought struck him that, dammit, there were too many to see from in here. And it was hot! So damned HOT inside the cab. If he could just …

As the others laughed, crammed together and pushing against each other like so many of the pre-schoolers that he so often subbed for, Jason rolled down the window. He looked up to see the cabbie’s eyes twitch to the rearview mirror, glowering unhappily but keeping his thoughts to himself. No doubt he thought that with four fares, a hefty tab was coming his way, so Jason just smiled at the guy and hung his head out the window, draping his neck backwards and peering heavenward.

“Fuck!” he whispered in quiet awe, following the faint outline of the Milky Way as it rippled across the sky. He recalled earlier in the night when there’d been one lonely star out, struggling unhappily to make itself known past the glories of the sunset. He recalled, too, that he’d found himself at a loss for a wish - for something to seize and hold onto for a little while. And it was just then that something – “Naaah! SomeONE!” he giggled skyward – came and seized HIM, wrapping her arms warmly around his waist. He closed his eyes and let his head loll further back, the wind blowing through his hair, carrying with it the small of honeysuckle from Godonlyknewwhere. Sparking, too, the memory of that first aching kiss. The serpentine writhe of her dancing. The muscles of her ass when he ran his fingers across them.

“Jayce!” he heard from somewhere above. The little star has found its voice, he thought with a smile. And it sounds like Claire!

“Oi!” he heard and then felt a sharp pain in his thigh. A punch. Denis’s.

“Asshole!” Jason growled with a smile as he dragged himself back into the car. “The fuck?”

“Party at Claire’s!” Denis crooned, pausing for a moment before adding “But not for Jenna. Gotta’ hot date.” Jason watched his friend reach past Claire to run his hand down Jenna’s leg in a kind of familiar possessiveness, grinning Cheshire-like as he did so. It seemed to Jason that the girl squeezed back into the door on her side of the car away from Denis’s touch, but he dismissed the thought with a mental wave.

They were a thing, were Den and Jen.

He snickered aloud at the thought, or at least at its expression. “Den and Jen” he wanted to say aloud for the pure fun of it, but the slanted look he received from Denis, sitting next to him, squelched the notion. So instead he merely laughed again, winking to Claire around Denis. He’d tell her later. She’d laugh too … she’d think it was funny because "Den and Jen" was –

“Shit!” he cried out startled, trying to leap from his seat but hopelessly crammed into position. There was an insistent buzzing against his ass, like some oversized hornet was just under the seat cover. “What the hell?”

“Is’Sara!” Claire said brightly, looking at him expectantly. He started to turn to look out the window behind him. Sara? On the street? “PHONE, stupid!” Claire laughed as he strained to twist around. “It’s your PHONE!”

And while Denis guffawed loudly, Jason struggled to cram his hand past his friend’s ass and into his own back pocket where he kept the Motorola. He acknowledged the laughter of both his old friends by flashing them the bird, but he found himself strangely unwilling to look up and note Jenna’s response on the other side of the car. Instead, he studiously dug more deeply but found his fingers too smashed and maneuvering room too tight to slide the thing from his jeans pocket.

“Aaaaa, fuck it,” he swore. “Call ‘er later. No party though. Gotta’ go home. Call.”

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Denis yelled at the top of his lungs, a gesture that brought a malicious glare from the cabbie, one that made Jason sure that if they were on the streets of Jakarta – or wherever he came from - he would have put them all out.

“Sorry!” Jason smiled to both Denis and the cabbie. Neither man appeared mollified by his penitential offering, but at least the cabbie returned his eyes to the road, an outcome that pleased Jason mightily since he’d been pretty confident that they were all going to run into the ass-end of an 18-wheeler if the driver didn’t start doing his job real quick.

And “BOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Denis laughed racously as he piled out of the cab behind Claire when they arrived at her place. “C’mon, brother! Jus’ one drink! C’mon Jenna!”

“Na, naa, naaa,” Jason chuckled, shaking his head. “Gotta’ make call. See you guys tomorrow … love you two!” he added giddily as Denis slammed the door close. “Love you two,” he shouted out the window, hanging his head out like a dog as the cabbie screeched away from the sidewalk and the annoying loudmouth still standing there yelling “BOOOoooooooo!”

“Oh shit!” Jason chuckled to himself. "I freakin' love that guy," he added, collapsing back into the seat and closing his eyes. Jus’ for a moment, he promised himself.

Jenna winced a little as Denis teased her about having a hot date, her body recoiling. What the hell? She and Denis had been all over each other on several occasions. Why she was suddenly turned off by him, she had no idea. She shook her head. She was just drunk, that was all there was to it. Glancing over at Jason, she saw that he was snickering. Jenna wondered briefly if he had seen the way she had reacted to his friend’s touch.

But damn how she liked HIS touch. His hands on her lower back as they hugged. On her waist as they kissed. On her ass as he led her into the club… She wondered what would have happened between them if they hadn’t been caught by Jason’s friend. Would he have invited her home?

Would he have-

A loud commotion interrupted her train of thought as the others inside the cab jumped at the incessant vibration of Jason’s cellphone. Jenna just shook her head, enjoying the delightful buzz she had going on. She wasn’t going to let the thought of Sara ruin her night. Not that there was anything wrong with Sara. She just…wasn’t there, and didn’t need to be a part of their evening. Jenna found herself smiling as Jason didn’t answer his phone. She couldn’t help herself. He was drunk, too, though. Much more drunk than she was.

She closed her eyes and enjoyed the light breeze coming through the open window of the cab as they drove. The night was cool and crisp. When the cab came to a sudden halt, Jenna’s eyes flew open. Denis was loudly trying to convince the two to come in and have a drink, but Jenna knew she’d had enough for one night. She waved him away silently, smiling.

Finally Denis and Claire managed to remove themselves from the cab. She didn’t see them entering her house, because the cab driver took off right away. She smiled to herself. What a loud bunch of people she’d found herself becoming friends with. Fun people, but still quite loud.

“I freakin’ love that guy,” Jason said as the cab pulled away from the house. She glanced over at Jason. He hadn’t told the cab driver where to go, unless he’d already told him before they’d given the driver Claire’s address.

For the first moment of the evening, Jason was quiet. He was collapsed back into the seat with his eyes closed. Peaceful…and so-freaking-hot. The buttons she had undone on his shirt left his upper chest exposed. She bit her lower lip, flashbacks of hours before in her head. The kisses, the grabbing, and the heat. Oh god, the heat. Before she could help herself, she was next to him and leaning into him, her torso pressed into his arm and chest, whispering into his ear.

“You look so hot like that, Jase. I just wanna…” she trailed off, seeing that he hadn’t opened his eyes, “do naughty things to you…” she whispered hotly. “Really naughty things.”

When Jen said “naughty,” Jason had to fight the instant compulsion to giggle. “Naughty” was the currency of the first graders he watched. It was stand-in-the-corner-you’re-on-timeout stuff. It was code for stop-pulling-my-hair or give-me-back-my-ball. But when she rested her fingers on his chest, lightly toying with a button she’d left closed earlier, the laugh caught in his throat, transforming itself into a small grunt of approval. Opening his eyes, he twisted slightly in his seat to look down at her, wrapping one arm around her shoulders and molding her body more tightly to his.

“Naughty,” he grinned. “I like the sound of ‘naughty.’”

He was moving to kiss her, this time sliding a hand up her waist to cup one of her breasts when the cabbie shattered his momentum.

“Hey, buddee! Buddee, where we go?”

The man was staring bleakly into his rearview mirror at them, expectantly awaiting both an address to drive and – no doubt - an attempt by Jason to disentangle himself from the girl.

Not likely, guy, Jason subvocalized respective of the second expectation, offering instead only “811 Winthrop” in reply to the driver’s request. The cabbie grunted and returned his eyes to the road, although Jayce had no doubt he would be glancing into his mirror several times each minute for the rest of the ride. The interruption also made him painfully aware of his wallet and phone digging into his ass cheek, so as he pivoted back to Jenna, he dug his fingers into his back pocket and yanked both, not giving a shit where they fell in the car.

“Now … you were saying?” He said it placing his now-free hand on her belly, wishing she weren’t wearing a dress so he could feel the warmth of her skin under his fingertips. He satisfied himself, instead with another long kiss, biting Jenna’s lower lip, bringing a satisfying gasp from her when he did so, before tracing his lips along her jaw to her neck, kissing and softly biting down her throat while his hand slid up between them to find its place earlier, the warmth of one breast.

It had been years since he’d been with a woman other than Sara, and while certain of his movements – Jen’s body, warm and responsive, gave him all the cues any man would need - he felt less sure of the other intimacies. By now he would have whispered into Sara’s ear that he was going to fuck her silly. (And she would have responded with a groan or a giggle, depending on what came before.) With this girl, who knew? The uncertainty, though, was part of the magnetism, and he circled back up her neck to her ear, his lips a working counterpoint to his thumb, circling one small, hard nipple under her dress.

Jenna was extremely responsive to Jason's every caress and kiss, her body heating instantly to his touch. He turned his attention to her after they had been interrupted by the cab driver, his smile apparent even in the dark cab. His passionate kiss took her breath away, his teeth drawing out a gasp as he pulled on her lower lip. She whimpered as his kisses trailed down her jaw and neck, his teeth on her throat causing her to go weak at the knees. Jenna instantly knew there would be wetness to be found in her panties, if either of them checked, and blushed at the thought.

"Jay," she moaned out quietly, his large hand finding her breast. He made sure she knew exactly what his intentions were there, his thumb rubbing her nipple through her dress. This time, however, she wasn't embarrassed as her nipple hardened and she felt wetness seeping between her legs. She responded by tilting her neck forward to let her lips play over his exposed neck. He was warm and a little salty, and she kissed and nibbled at the spot his neck met his ear. She let the warm tip of her tongue play over his earlobe, whispering hotly, "If naughty means getting these damn clothes off- finally- I'm interested."

She bit back a moan as she felt his lips play over her ear, her grip on the side of his shirt tightening almost roughly. It was so hot in the cab- the heat between them - that the back windows of their cab were starting to get foggy.

Jenna had no clue where 811 Winthrop was, but she could only hope that it was near. And that he would be inviting her inside.

Her lips on his neck and the violence of the way she clenched his shirt drove Jason into near fits of need. His cock ached against the constraint of his jeans as he shifted over, forcing Jen backwards and further down on the seat, pinning her halfway beneath him.

“I like your idea about the clothes,” he whispered into her ear before moving his mouth to hers. While he tasted the sweetness of the night’s alcohol on her breath, his tongue brushing lightly with hers, his hand slipped down, almost of its own volition, to her thigh where he gripped her tightly, his thumb still moving in warm circles.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew the cabbie must be seeing everything, but he didn’t care. Earlier in the night he was ready to lick Jenna to climax right in front of the club. The thought of an entire city of passersby had meant nothing to him, but the intimacy of an audience of one differed. It increased the heat of the moment, and as he felt the tip of his cock crest the top of his jeans, he slid his hand up into Jenna’s skirt, running a single finger down her panties and groaning quietly into her mouth with the wetness he found there.

Jenna let out a soft squeal as Jason forced her back from her aggressive position, pushing her down between the seat and his body, which was currently putting off so much heat she could barely stand it. "Mmme too," she barely had the chance to say, before he was kissing her again. Every touch, every kiss; she felt like she was being lit on fire. He was so passionate, and he felt so damn good. She moaned as their tongues touched, almost in disbelief of the current circumstances.

She didn't even care that the cab driver was barely looking at the road, his eyes flicking to the rearview mirror every few seconds. Her hips pushed upwards as if they had a mind of their own, as she saw Jason's hardness beneath his pants. She barely had a chance to process the thought that she was arousing him, before she felt his hand push up her skirt and his finger *FINALLY* running over her wet panties. "Mmmmmmmm, J." she moaned again, as they still kissed. Her left hand made its way down his back, pushing him closer towards her body, as her right hand slid into his hair, tugging slightly as their tongues tangled.

She had no idea how close they were to his house, but she knew she was going to explode if they didn't get there soon.

When she pushed her body more tightly to his, when he felt her thrust upwards, grinding the hardness of her pelvis into his own, Jason shuddered, groaning “Oh, fuck” softly into Jenna’s ear: it was a wish and a promise and a curse all at once. It was his capitulation to the simple fact that he needed the release of her.

He tried to shift left in order to free his hand which was quickly becoming trapped between their bodies. He wanted the room to lounge over … to take the time and space to explore her with his fingers, but the damned seat back was making it impossible. With a frustrated growl he surrendered to the constraints of the moment, getting sideways enough so that his hips rode astride her thigh, the tip of his cock now entirely above his jeans and pressed tightly to her leg. And when she ran her fingers into his hair, his body responded of its own volition, thrusting forward against her, dragging his jeans slightly downward to expose more of his cock. It was a movement that brought his fingers more tightly between her legs, and he seized the chance to slide them beneath her panties and into her. He smiled at her shivered gasp and began to fuck her with his fingers, gently at first and then with growing insistence. Her scent had filled the cab and Jason thought he heard the driver whisper something to himself. He had little doubt the man was staring at them in his mirror, watching Jason bring the tight-bodied little red closer to cumming.

"How's that feel?" he whispered to her, wanting to hear her panted response. Wanting the driver hear her cry out maybe. "When we get to my place ..."

He left the rest unspoken, moving his thumb to the wetness of her clit instead.

Jenna groaned, her body responding to Jason's touch and the words he kept moaning out. Just knowing she was having such an effect on him was driving her mad with lust. Her eyes shut as she thought again about Jason thrusting into her, and she let a soft moan slip out. As she opened them to meet his, she glanced down.

His cock was pressed into her, having slipped out the top of his jeans. She choked on her breath, letting her fingertips slide down to brush over the soft head. But before she had a chance to really tease him, his fingers were between her legs, under her panties, and then thrusting into her. Her breath was forced out of her, whimpering into his ear as her fingers tightened on his biceps. How had they gone from a stolen kiss to finger-fucking in the cab?! She didn't care, though. It just felt so goddamned good. Her nails dug into his arm, as his fingers explored her hot, tight pussy. She was so wet, she felt like she had to be soaking his hand.

With the tight squeeze of her panties, the tiny skirt, his body against hers, and small backseat of the cab, it didn't give Jason much room to work his magic. Yet somehow, he was doing quite a spectacular job. Jenna's body writhed on the seat, and she continued to let out soft little sighs and moans as he picked up in speed. "Aaaahhh!" she yelped, as his thumb brushed over her clit, "F-feels...f-feels, oh my godddddd." she answered in response, eyes fluttering. "Fuccck." she groaned out, much louder than intended, fingers digging in hard to his arms.

With her groan, Jason increased the intensity of his fucking, lifting his thumb from Jenna’s clit so he could drive the palm of his hand hard against the wetness of her lips and the delicate firmness of the mound above them. He could feel the light trimming of her pubes, soaked, although wet with her own musk or the sweat of his hand he hadn’t a clue. He only knew the scent of her and the words she stuttered into his ear were driving him to a frenzy that made him wild for relief and, strangely, desperate for the pleasure-ache of the minutes to go on just as they were.

With each shove, he grunted softly in exertion, his hips moving in rhythm with his hand, and his cock grinding against the firm smoothness of her thigh. When he felt the fabric of her dress glide once against the glans under his head, he groaned loudly in accompaniement to Jenna’s quickened huffing. “Christ!” he hissed into the cup of her ear. “Jesus I’m gonna’ cum …”

Whether it was the toned delicacy of her body, the newness of the girl, or the ferocious heat of the cab – including the knowledge that the cabbie himself had slowed the car to a virtual crawl, no doubt to watch Jason fingerfuck the little red – Jason couldn’t recall when the rage of his desire had been so strong. Had it been weeks? Months? The question itself melted into a miasma of panted exclamations and the warm urgency of Jenna’s tongue as he kissed her again.

“I’m gonna fuck you right here!” he whispered into her ear with a savage grin. At the same time he yanked her panties firmly to one side, pinning them away from her cunt and tightly to her leg with his thumb, while sliding his cock up to her lips, pushing it along the slippery verge, teasing himself with her wetness.

“I think the driver likes watching you,” he chuckled low. He drew in a breath, holding himself in agony of waiting for one more brief moment before looking down at Jenna, whose eyes were wide now, looking up into his own.

“He’s gonna fucking LOVE this,” Jason grinned, shifting his weight forward.
