x men

In response to the Cajun's question, a display image showing a history text showed up. He had made a backup copy of the original, so that it would show his original reasons for being here, and on a second display appeared a comparison between the two.

"Time keeps changing, and not for the better. History originally showed that Wizard was killed by you in a jealous rage. His death caused the spreading of a virus that wiped out almost the entire planet. Now, however, a fate much worse is befalling the world. According to the history texts, he became infected by an unknown bioform. You saw those zombie-like creatures? Think of a global army of those. He's not the only one either. We can still save him, and the world, but we may need the help of Sabertooth, whether he's willing or not."

:: He shook his head, once again he was being asked to save the world and once gain he was asking himself how this all was his problem. To say that there was an angel and a devil on his shoulder was partially correct, however the angel was always the figure of Tante Mattie, Gambit's spiritual advisor slash concience.

He looked over the file as they played and couldn't help himself.::

So I was going ta kill dis kid in a jealious rage over Rogue, but now because he got picked up by de leader of the zombies I have ta go save him? You're not convincing me as to why dis is my problem.

:: He tried to shut out the voice of Tant Mattie in his ear telling him that this world is bigger than Remy Lebeau and that he is still not big enough to be put over her knee. She always knew that he still believed in the Saints and the Lord even if he forgotten how. She was the one that prayed for him everyday.::

Cable raised an eyebrow, then showed the Cajun a video file, taken from a video surveillance network showing the result of the Cajun killing Wizard, then becoming the first victim, his body convulsing in pain. Then he showed him the revised version, showing Wizard attacking Gambit and Rogue, and turning them into creatures like those zombies. It wasn't a pretty sight, and it would turn even the most hardened stomachs.

"Sabertooth is one of the few people capable of generating an antibody to both. But, we need to get him to attack Wizard and become infected. Then we have to withdraw the antibodies and replicate them. To do so, however, we need someone able to subdue the beast. You and Rogue fit the bill. Besides, the kid looks up to you. Mainly because you mean more to Rogue than he does."

:: He watched the new video again and watched him take out the kid, except this time he was attacked by whatever virus the kid was carrying. He watched as his body convulced on the ground, then then looked through the image at Cable. The video then changed once more and showed Gambit and Rogue fighting Wizard and him touching them with his mutated hands making them zombies like the rest. His eyes went to Cable as Cable spoke.::

We both know that the future is always changing, Cable. You are showing me one possible future. While I'll admit it looks bleak, it isnt the true future until its lived. I've delt with dis shit before with Bishop and I proved him to be wrong. Why do you think that this one is set in stone?

::He looked over his shoulder to see what the girls were doing. Rogue was still busy guiding the Jet to their location and Betsy was fidgeting while watching Gambit and Cable talk.::

I'll do whatever the other two choose, but I've already completed my role in all of dis as far as I'm concerned. If you can convince Rogue and Betsy to join you, then I'll come along.

::He walked over to the drivers window and looked in on Betsy and Rogue.::

You two may want to come out and hear dis from Cable. I've already heard it all and made my decision. I can't speak for either of you, so you will have to make your own decision.

::He said all he wanted about the situation, he then walked over to the hood of the car and sat down, pulling out another cigarette as he thought about his current situation. He pondered what all Sinister did and didn't tell him about this whole situation. All he knew was that he was back where he belonged. With Rogue.::

Dead Hand kept on running, Wizard slung over his shoulder. Probably wasn't a very confortable ride, and that may be partly why he was coming around. However, he figued he didn't have any time to just stop and let the kid walk on his own.

"Hey kid. Comin' round? Good"

Rogue

I perched on top of the car, the LDP in my lap, fiddling with the controls. I'd managed to sync to the jet and start the pre-flight checks, though it had been difficult.

Switching on the ships camera system, I began to get video of inside the plane- it was empty and secure still. Outside, a few zombies milled around but nothing that could harm the jet.

Now my flying, on the other hand, brought a few gouges to the nose of the plane as I guided it through a hover lift off, not easy to do from the cockpit and even harder from the LDP. "Stupid stabelizers must be on the fritz again."

Looking over at Gambit and Cable, I hollared, "We've got a 15 min eta on da plane, Cajun-boy."

:: He looked over his shoulder after lighting the cigarette in his mouth. He must be stressed out at the moment cause he keeps lighting them up. He blow some smoke past his lips and shakes hishead as Rogue takes a lighthearted dig at him~

Cajun-boy? Cher, you never let me prove to you dat I can be your man.

~He turned back around to watch the sky for the jet, lifting one leg so that his foot rested on the bumper and rested his arm on his raised knee. He would follow Rogue to the end of the world and back, but he wasn't so sure if what Cable said or what Sinister told him was true. Stuck once more between a rock and a hard place, he only wished it was as easy as slipping a dart between them changing it with his mutant powers and watching them turn to dust and debris.~

Wizard opened his eyes, wincing. He was in a lot of pain, but even now he was trying not to show it. He looked around, slowly staggering to his feet, and then lost his lunch all over the ground. He wiped his mouth slowly once the retching stopped, and then looked around again, finally seeing Dead Hand.

"What the hell happened to me? Where's Rogue? And why do I feel like a doormat?"

---

Cable looked at Rogue, and smiled slowly. He could read her like a book, she had been very unnerved by the zombie creatures. But she didn't know about her companion. So Cable decided to speak to her using what little telepathy he still had.

~Abandoning your teammates...Disgraceful. The kid depended on you, and you left him. Now he's sick, very badly so, and only you and your friends can save him, with my help. But we need Sabertooth's healing ability to do so.~

After they left her alone, Storm looked down at her hands and started shaking. Instead of skin on the palms of her hands she saw mouths with hundreds of jagged teeth.

“Goddess help me”

She leaned over and promptly threw up. She could feel the weather outside changing and thunder clouds building. She knew she was causing it but didn’t really care. She got up and looked around for something to cover her hands. She found a first aid kit. She wrapped her hands in gauze and tried not to look at them. She stumbled outside and saw people panicking.

She flew up to the roof of the house she had just exited from. The wind started to build up to hurricane proportions centering around the house.

Dead Hand had put Wizard on the ground as soon as they had reached where the jet had been left. Only it wasn't there. The few zombies that had been illing around had wandered off somewhere. Right now, he didn't care. Instead, he just slumped against a tree.

At least Wizard was concious enough to hold o conversation.

"You've had a real busy day kid. Looks like one hell of alot of people are after you. Sabretooth, Cable, McCoy..." He trailed off as he put his head in his hands. "...and to top it all off, we're somewhere in Germany, surrounded by zombies, and with no vehicle to get us the hell outta here"

Wizard looked at Dead Hand slowly. He winced again, something tugging at his mind, some detail they overlooked. Then it hit him. They had the Xcom. He quickly reached into his pouches, fished around, and pulled out the com, then pressed a button, starting to speak into it, coughing, then slowly speaking in a clear voice.

"Rogue? Rogue, something happened. The last thing I remember is getting hit by Dead Hand's fist. I don't know what he was thinking, but... Anyways, we're going to need a pick up or something. I'll try to transmit coordinates...." Suddenly, he retched again, and started breathing raspily.

Dead Hand looked up. Wizard certainly didn't sound in the best of health. But then, considering what he had just gone through, that wasn't suprising. Reaching into a pocket, he pulled out a slightly melted chocolate bar and tossed it over to Wizard.

"Don't sound to good kid. Best eat something"

Wizard nodded, and started to eat the chocolate, but it only gave him minor satisfaction. He was hungry, but he wasn't sure what for. And his hands hurt. Then again, his entire body hurt.

"What happened? I hurt all over, especially my hands."

Dead Hand leaned back against the tree. "It's a long story kid, so I'll shorten it. About three months ago I got contacted by a guy calling himself 'The Cheif'. Said I was to hang around with the X-Men for a while. Got paid for it too. Then, two weeks ago, I got another message. It was to deliver you to a currier when you were alone. That's why I hit you."

He sighed and closed his eyes for a second, getting all the events thereafter into some sort of order.

"Turns out the the chief was McCoy. He had some guy galled Emplate put his hands on your head while he injected you with something. I don't know what though. And Cable wanted something else running through your bloodstream too. So i gave you what he handed me. After all, when the chips are down, you gotta do what the future-guy says. Probably for the greater good."

He scratched his head.

"So, in short, you've had a really shitty day"

Wizard groaned at the mention of McCoy, who had gone missing several years prior, then opened his eyes, staring at Dead Hand when he mentioned Cable. Wizard had heard of Cable, and knew a basic history of him, courtesy of Xavier. What would the son of Jean and Scott want running through his system. It was a mystery for him, and he wondered if maybe it had something to do with the pain he was feeling. He winced again, then put a hand to his head.

"Emplate.... Why does that name sound familiar?" He asked, more to himself then Dead Hand.

Rogue

I shot a glare at Cable. "Play nice."

My com squaked to life, Wizard's voice coming over it. I'd just finished completeing the uplink between the plane and me, and had it hovering about three feet off the ground.

"Wizard, are you guys still near the jet? I can fly you to me if you can get to it."

Dead Hand shrugged and pulled out a fudge bar. Pulling his mark off, he started to chew on the snack. He had no idea of who Emplate was, or what exactly he did. In fact, he didn't think he had actually heard of the guy before today. Sighing, he silently wished that he was back in the U.S, doing contracts for regular people, against regular people.

"Beats me kid"

Cable smiled, which almost made his face scary, intead of softening his features. As the Xcom squealed into life, he smiled. At least the kid was ok, for now. But there was so much to be done. He'd have to make sure they got someplace safe.

"I have a suggestion. Bring him here, and then we can go to Sabertooth's cabin near here. I have Sabertooth sedated for now, but if we can get him infected, we'll be able to harvest the antibodies. Granted, we'll have to go to a medical facility to replicate the vaccine. Perhaps Muir Island."

---

Wizard heard Rogue's voice, and was relieved for the first time all day. He looked up, and finally saw the plane, which had been cloaked still. He was about to speak when he realized that he could see the cloaked plane.

"Rogue, we're near the plane, but...I can actually see it. It's still cloaked and I can see it as if it weren't. I can even see the cloak around it."

Rogue

"That's cause I kinda screwed up the cloaking device a bit when I scraped the nose on the ground," I said sheepishly as I flicked a series of buttons to drop the rear hatch to the plane so they could walk aboard. "I should be able to fix it, I hope, once I get you here."

I watched them board and sighed in relief. "Let me know when you're buckled in. Its going to be a rough flight. My aplogies in advance."

While I waited for them to get seated, I looked down at Gambit who stood watching me, a lock of hair falling across his face.

I smiled at him, heartfelt and happy just to be around him. I decided then and there to put behind us whatever had happened before. He loved me enough to come after me, to save me, after what had happened. And I loved him enough to follow him to the ends of the earth and beyond.

What else mattered?

With that decided in my mind, I rolled my shoulders and got ready to bring the plane here. "Where do you want this bird landed, Gambit?"

Fantomex

Flying through the air on Eva the enigmatic mutant hunter relaxed. He was well away from Germany by now but the X-Men were still in his thoughts. He had one more surprise for the X-Men up his sleeve.

:: Having finished his cigarette he finally got his wits about him and looked at Rogue. The wind blowing across the clearing caught his face and blew a stray strand of hair into his face. With one hand he brushed the hair from his face while he watched her.

This whole mess started after they shared a kiss moments before they thought they were going to die. Now that they were together he hoped that they could put this all behind them and start off fresh. He wasnt sure how he would be accepted by the rest of the team, but it didnt really matter to him as long as he could be with her. No more secrets. No more lies.::

So long as you don't land de demn thing on top of us, you've got a whole field in front of you to play with, Cher. Not to mention if you get it close by and can't land it, I can hold it steady while you fly up and bring it down another way.

"There is that, Gambit," I said with a grin and a toss of my hair.

I watched Wizard and Deadhand get strapped into thier seats and spoke over the ship's intercom. "I'll be dusting off now. Hold on to your seats and I hope you haven't eaten recently."

With that inspiring warning, I switched to active controls, taking control from the ship's autopilot. We still hadn't gotten it to take off in hover-autopilot yet.

From the altimeters and gyroscope read outs, I knew it was a rocky dust off, the plane's engines roaring to life. Where were those ever-so-tech savy kids when you needed them, I wondered ruefully.

A few moments of flight type, and I was bringing the plane into land in the clearing.
Landing gear was out, emergency cushions ready to deploy.
"Here goes nothing..."

Cable watched the two of them. It was interesting seeing their relationship firsthand. Wizard loved Rogue, but she didn't see it. Gambit, however...that was a different story. Still, Gambit seemed to love Rogue more than he tried to express. He pondered this, then walked over to the two of them.

---

Wizard strapped in, and looked at Dead Hand. He already knew somehow that Rogue and Gambit had found each other. He was sad, that was true, but he still had a mission to complete. Still, the pain was growing, especially in his hands. It was almost as if they were trying to tear apart.

"We're ready, Beautiful." He blinked, his eyes widening as he realized what he called her, and clapped a hand over his mouth. Even more surprising was the sudden liftoff and rapid flight. The landing was a little rough, but his stomach held.

Rogue

I raised an eyebrow at the Beautiful comment but let it slide, mostly. "Allright handsome, hold onto your butts. I'm going to bring the plane down in hover mode. Its going to be a bit rough."

I must be the master of understatements.

From the mess the screens showed inside, it was very very rough.

But I got the plane down in once peice and still able to run, which was all I'd wanted.

Wiping the sweat from my forehead, I looked down at Gambit, green eyes happy with my achievement. "Remind me to tell the kids at the Institute that I brought the plane down all by myself!"

After shutting off the engines, I put aside the controller and hopped down from the car, slipping as my scraped leg brushed against the car and I winced.
The slip put me right next to Remy, closer then we'd been in a long time...

Dead Hand rubbed his aching joints. Rogue's understatement was absolutly huge! A bit rough? the landing was almost as bad as those vertical drop rollercoasters he'd seen on TV, only without the smooth stop at the end.

He groaned aloud. "I bet Deadpool never get's tussled around like this. Then again, maybe he does..."
