x men

Wizard nodded, and slowly, painfully undid the buckles on his harness. His hands were still bothering him, more so than the rest of his body. He still managed to get up out of the chair, and walked over to the hatch and lowered it, heading out to see them. He was astonished to see Cable standing there. He had never actually met the man, but he knew most of what the others knew. Still, the man was utterly HUGE. And the look on his face was a little disconcerting. Then he saw Gambit and Rogue, and felt the familiar jealous feeling arise. He growled to himself, and looked away, burying the feeling under the concept of The Mission.

:: He watched the jet as it screamed into view, then landed roughly in the middle of the field -mostly-. All he could think of was that he was glad he wasn't in the jet when she put it down.::

I'll make you a plaque dat you can hang in the main hall saying you did it, P'tite. Right now though we better get our hind ends in da air and get somewhere we can regroup.

::Instincts took over as Gambit watched Rogue slip as she attempted to slide off the car. His arm went around her and caught her holding her steady. Once they both righted themselves, their eyes locked and they stared deeply into the other's eyes. It was as though the rest of the world around them disappeared.::

The wind whipped around Storm as she stood on the roof of the house. No one could get near her and that was what she wanted. She didn't know why they chose to infect her. She couldn't kill anyone. Once had been enough. They wanted Rogue. They would free Xavier and Jean and cure her as long as she got Rogue. There was a cure and she needed to focus on that.

She suddenly remembered that she had a communicator. With everything that was going on she had forgotten about it. She let the wind die down enough so she could get a message out.

"If anyone can hear me, find Rogue and keep her away from me. Fantomex is working for Dark Beast don't trust him."

Rogue

Standing in his arms, I felt my eyes widen, a blush tinge my cheeks. Nothing else mattered or even really exsisted for that moment.

I laid my head on Remy's shoulder and it felt right, like coming home after a long time away. I sighed and leaned closer, tired of all the death of the day, tired of worrying.

Still, now was not the time to dash off and coo like turtledoves. "Remy, as comforting and as much as I would love to stay this way, we need to get moving."

I gently pulled away, hands lingering on his shoulders. I grabbed my bag from the car and shoved the remote lander inside then turned to Remy. "Lets go see how banged up the boys are."

Leading the way, I punched in a security code on the panel of the plane to open the doors and walked inside, feeling guilty for the rough landing.

"Sorry guys, it didn't qute handle like the simulator. Least I warned you it'd be rough, right?"

Dead Hand looked round from his seat as Rogue walked on board. "Y-yeah. You did. Remind me never to fly again..." He ached all over from the day's exertions. Closing his eyes, he rested his head back. "I need to sleep"

Cable slowly walked on board, then sat down in a seat. Again, Wizard was amazed at how utterly big the man was. He was an impressive sight, standing taller than Gambit, and having huge muscles. Still, he was again struck with the thought of why Cable was there. Wizard turned to Rogue, and said weakly.

"I guess I really screwed up, didn't I? Man, I feel horrible." His hands were throbbing again, feeling like they would tear apart. What had they done to him while he was out. He scowled at Dead Hand for a moment, then sighed, sitting back down and buckling in.

Rogue

I smiled at Wizard, kneeling next to him. "Least you didn't get put in the slippery-wet zombie slaying compitition."

Wizard nodded, then closed his eyes. He didn't feel up to flying the plane, in fact, didn't feel up to doing much of anything. He slowly opened his eyes, as he felt Cable staring at him, and looked up, to see the guy smiling.

---

Cable was watching Wizard with a slight smile. He hadn't expected the kid to be conscious after everything he'd been through. Still, he had to get Wizard and Sabertooth in the same room.

Rogue

I looked around to make sure everyone was aboard and closed the hatches once they were.

"Okay, guys and girl, we're going to be taking off in a few moments headed toward... hmm, any suggestions?"

While waiting for a destination, I set the plane's auto-repair bot go into service in emergency repair mode. It would get the stealth paint repaired and the minor hull damage stabalized so it didn't get worse. I'd have to find someone to fix the dents later on though.

Once the bot was back in its holding slot, I slipped into the pilots seat and began checking fuel levels and such. We were good to go for now.

Cable spoke quietly. "Sabertooth's cabin has a large clearing by it. Unless you want to go back to the States to pick up Wolverine, we'll need him."

::He watched Rogue as she walked up the stairs leading into the jet, then he looked around the to see if any of the zombies were getting close. Satisfied that they were safe for the moment, he climbed into the plane with the others. He walked between the seats and looked at the motley crew that Rogue had as her team this time. He offered each a nod, then slipped into the Co-Pilot's chair and strapping in.::

So are you going to introduce me to the rest of de team or am I just going to be your mysterious Cajun friend?

::He winked at her. Then double checked the instruments. Everything looked to be in working condition. This plane was no Blackbird, but it would have to do.::

Alright all seems to be in working order, Cher, but are you sure you want to fly dis thing, I mean considering what a bang up job you did a few minutes ago, I can....

::He smirked at her as she slapped him in the arm, then caught her other hand as she went to hit him again.::

What, P'tite, was it somet'ing I said?

Rogue

"I can fly it," I said, laughingly slapping his arm. "It was the remote system that screwed me up. It didn't respond like it was supposed to. Besides, its fixed now."

Looking behind me, I pointed as I introduced people. "Guys, Gambit and Psylocke. That there is Wizard and over there is Deadhand. Scary tall dude is Cable. Play nice."

:: He looked at her and shook his head~

I know who Cable is. Remember Muir Island? The dan collars that negated mutant powers. Was a mess I wouldn't care to repeat. I dont think Storm or Jubilee ever got over that.

::He looked over his shoulder and nodded at Deadhand and Wizard, then looked back at Rogue.::

Where did you find dem at? And what's wrong with the kid? He doesn't look too good, Chere. Maybe we should be taking him to a hospital.

Rogue

"Wizard is a transfer student, if I remember right," I said, strapping myself into the seat. "Might want to buckle up. Looks like we've got minor windshears. Blasted weather sensors weren't translating to me earlier."

Adjusting for the shears, I planned my ascent. "Oh, and Deadhand came to the institute a while ago and got assigned to my team. Not sure where Lavabutt went, not sure I care. I think 'he was a spy or something of that nature."

Fantomex

the costumed soldier walked up to the landed plane. He used his enhanced hearing to hear what the occupants are saying and then decided to make his move.

"Well if you care to know" he announced.

"Lavabutt annoyed me at your mansion and my annoyance is like an itch. And anytime I have an itch Fatale scratches it, with her nails." Fantomex holds up a bloody kitana and two gloves covered in blood that look like the speed gloves Magma wore earlier.

Holding the gloves by their finger tips he begins to dangle them and after a moment two severed hands fall out.

A purple flash of light appears behind him and he throws the kitana and gloves in it and it dissappears.

"Good riddance to one unwanted guest." Fantomex says.

"And good riddance to the rest!" he yells as he pulls out two of his .9mm guns and begins to fire shots rapidly aiming most of his shots at Cable and Gambit.

As he shoots toward the X-Men above them his partner Eva begins to come crashing down upon the group's plane.

Oh crap! Shots were pinging around inside the ship! Someone was fireing at them, and that someone sounded like Fantomex! Dead Hand didn't like shootouts. Firstly because he has no gun, and secondly because he's got no physical protection against them.

Sliding off his seat, he decided that the best thing he could do was to take cover. Of course, as his luck would have it, by the sound of the creaking of steel, his hiding place wouldn't last too long...

Wolverine

"I do not care who´s idea it was bub. Now that i am here your games is over." Logan let´s his eyes wander over the youngsters. "Soon enough you bunch might try the real thing." He shruggs at the thought of these kids facing real danger. Logan looks at the young students, one at a time. "Now i wan´t to know exactly what happened to the professor and the teachers. If it was an attack, who did it?"

Shadowcat

Kitty crept along the trees. She started looking at the school, and in the window, trying to see if anyone was there. Suddenly she saw a small group standing outside it was Logan and a group of students talking. He's back... glad to see a familiar face Kitty stepped out of the trees. "Logan!" she called and started walking over, with Lockheed behind her.

Rogue

"Oh no..." I whispered before the shots started to fly.

Hitting the emergency jump-jets, I launched the plane into the sky, adjusting into a forward heading rapidly. Sixth sense comes in handy sometimes.

I reached into my backback, one hand still on the throttle and tossed Gambit a deck of cards. "Here, Gambit, do something."

Leaning over, I concentrated on dealing with getting us out of the area and away from Fantomex's ship. If he was attacking us, then Eva would be too.

Unless touching Fantomex would mean gaining control of Eva... I pondered the idea in the back of my mind while darting the plane through the air, doing things I know my flight instructor would kill me over and not caring.

Wizard stood up slowly, unbuckling his harness as he did so. His one thought was rage, and suddenly, a wall of metal started moving towards Fantomex from behind them. He was somehow able to interact with the plane's controls, and had the plane moving towards Fantomex at high speed. The plane jumped out of Rogue's control, streaking forward at Fantomex, being used as a weapon. He didn't know what he was doing, or how he was doing it, and he didn't know how long it would last, but he had only one thought on his mind, destroying the man who had caused him such pain.

Fantomex

the group of photographers and cameramen continued to run around the village.

They are careful to film Storm as per Fantomex's orders. At the moment they find his request strange. He ordered them to capture as many X-Men on film as possible but at the moment they have only seen one. One of them begins to speak up.

"Hey Richie! Where did you meet this guy anyway?" he says while chewing on gum and focusing his lens on the body of a man.

"He met me. Worked with him on some jobs. A year ago when he was the 'friend' that got our physics grade changed. Told me if we would film the costco and some other spots for him, we'd be rich. He wasn't lying."

"It's kinda dangerous."

"Fuck yeah its dangerous! This is the work we always dreamed of doing. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq. We're like embedded reporters Matty. We're doing a service broadcasting these images to the American people."

"Richie, we're conspiring with one of the world's most dangerous international terrorist! We'd get hung for treason if anyone found out he was the one tipping us off!" Matty says while hushing the mic.

"Shut up! I saw connie chung once interview the Ayatollah. And Tom Brokaw sat down with Osama Bin Laden. We are reporters Matty. We gotta be neutral and just broadcast the facts. Just broadcast the story how it is."

"Maybe the story ain't the X-Men or Fantomex Richie. Will ya look at this?" Richie lowers his camera and moves toward his roomate. He notices the lesions on the victim, and his severed arm. He also sees the now unmoving mouths on the man's hand.

"What the fuck is that on his hands!?" Matty screams focusing in on the lens.

"Oh shit, you think there is some kinda disease that killed these people!?"

"No, Fantomex said we'd be fine. Just had to stick close to Fatale and not let anyone see us. Speaking of which where is she? And where are the rest of our crew? Wait, there are some of em. But something's wrong."

The two watch as some of their colleagues lock eyes upon them. This time when they lock eyes, Matty and Richie see something different. They see a hunger as the two begin to run for them.

A pink flash of light appears behind them.

"Come quickly! Your friends have been infected." Fatale calls.

The boys walk through the light and watch as Fantomex lifts his gun and fires.

"Film this!" Fatale calls.

Richie obeys but Matty is still scared. He looks behind him and sees that the portal has closed and he must be away from his friends but he wonders what happened.

"What's going on?" he asks frightened.

"The X-Men!" Fantomex calls out surprising even Fatale that he was able to hear over the noise.

"They were hiding a mutant student here by the name of Jubilation Lee. She had with her a deadly plague that infected the people in this town. That's why I told you to keep moving. If they saw you they would have infected you to."

"But my friends..." Matty stammers.

"Might still be okay. Help is on the way. There is a chance they could be saved. But your country needs you. Keep filming." Fantomex says.

Obediantly Richie lifts up the camera.

Psicout

At the School for Gifted Youngsters

"Well, it's like we were telling Havok, I mean Mr. Summers, who ditched might I add, we don't know what happened. We saw Professor Xavier, and Mr. and Ms. Summers, Cyclops and Phoenix get arrested. Juggernaut came back into the mansion. We haven't seen Rogue, Storm or any of the other teachers all day sir. Wizard is missing too. And that guy, deathhead, he's gone also. Some of us saw sentinels outside on the front lawn last night. After the sentinels left, nothing was the same."

Psicout knew that now was a bad time but all of the uncertainty and fear of danger made him nervous. He felt scared and unprepared. It was one of the reasons he agreed to the game. He knew that his powers would allow him to beat some of the younger less experienced students and those who didn't have combative powers. He'd hope by beating up on some of the other students it would make him feel better and remind him that he could hold his own if it came to a fight and he didn't need anyone to protect him.

Getting stabbed from afar by Julian Heller was not helping his sense of security however.

He hadn't trained in months. Psicout can remember how hurt he felt being embarrasssed by the White Queen when she expelled him from his class for "Not coming to grips with reality."

He curled his lips in contempt at how horribly she treated him. The reality was that a mutant with weapon producing powers like his should be getting combat training from actual fighters, and not being prescribed pointless mental exercises by a recovering stripper.

"Sir, maybe the Professor didn't tell you but, when you left I was never put in another training squad so I haven't learned anything but that stop drop and roll move you taught me if I'm ever on fire. If you have time I'd like to restart my sessions." Psicout stammered.

The timing couldn't be worst but at the moment he didn't care.

Eva

Eva floats in the skies high above the X-Men.

she begins to ascent slowly as she feels Fantomex travel through Fatale's portal.

She has been monitoring satellites all over the planet and as she lowers with the plane coming closer and closer into view she tells Fantomex the information he requested.

"Nationals down 2-6 in the seventh." the compuerized voice says telepathically.

"Damn!!!" Fantomex thinks and begins to fire at the plane's occupants even more rapidly.

Eva would tell Fantomex he should concentrate on the task at hand but his designers created him with multiple brains capable of independent processing so multitasking was never a problem. For Fantomex, they were especially easy because most of his tasks were the same: To Kill.

Eva begins to descend even quicker as she aims for the back of the jet as Fantomex wanted to neutralize 2 targets in particular.

Fantomex

Eva landed down on the ground at the spot that plane formerly occupied. The exhaust fumes and ignition blasts blinded her momentarily and Fantomex could not see out of her vision.

Still, he could see the plane and hear the whizzing sound behind him. Focusing intently on Rogue's eyes in the pilot seat he could see her fear and surprise. He could also see that it wasn't because of him.

"Something is behind me" he thought. Looking into Rogue's eyes he could see the way that her retrina retracted that it was something big.

"Well, they are about to learn why it is never a good idea to sneak up on Artificially evolved mutant hunting sentinels" he thought as he begins to run toward the plane coming toward him.

Fantomex dives forward and pivots his body in the air and lands with his back on the ground and both guns unholstered.

"I guess you thought you could surprise me eh!?" Fantomex shoots two shots and watch as his bullets hit a giant metal wall.

"Uh good guess!" he says hurredly and begins to calculate the speed at which he is about to be sandwiched. Eva can see a little better now and that helps with the processing. Maybe a moment sooner than he would have liked Fantomex with a quick and forceful strain pushes his elbows against the ground and kicks forward with his legs like martial artists who try to propel themselves off of the ground.

As he finds himself with his back toward the ground in mid air Fantomex sees the wall moving toward him and prepares for impact.

Tightening his face Fantomex waits for the moment the wall is near and he begins to push off.

"Ugh!" he screams as the pain travel's up his leg and assaults him.

Eva lets out a similar groan despite the distance that separates the two.

After moment of pushing off of the wall Fantomex hits the ground and begins to be dragged along the ground by the metal wall still approaching the plane. After a few moments of being pushed along the ground Fantomex can see the nose of the plane from his view on the ground and also a small purple light slightly ahead of him. Totally focusing all his mental strength, Fantomex's eyes look mesmrized as he uses his hands to pull on the back of his thighs because he can no longer feel his legs. After tucking his legs and curling up into a ball he twists his body while still being dragged along the ground. Once his hands are against the wall he waits and pushes off a final time throwing his motionless legs down Fatale's portal and quickly withdrawing his hands to prevent them from being amputated.

The hole is too small for any pieces of the large wall to enter so it moves over the ground around the portal and continues to fly toward the plane.

Eva lowers her cloaking system's and allows Fatale to teleport aboard. A pink light shines and the two are aboard.

Eva speaks quickly.

"I'll take care of him. Assemble the others."

Fatale teleports away.

Eva looks at the back of the plane as the wall approaches it.

"Now lets see if they react to their crash with as much poise mon fraire" Fantomex says as the nano-sentinel technology in his bloodstream begins to work and repair the damage caused by impact.

The jet lifted, passing above the wall, but just barely. Suddenly, the wall disappeared, being broken down by whatever force took it over. Just as soon as the power started, it was gone, and Wizard lost consciousness, hitting the ground.
