x men

::He once again felt her arms around him and he came to a stop resting in those arms. He kept his eyes on the projective as it made its way closer to EVA. With Storm's lightning strikes hitting EVA, his dart should be the blow that brought her down.::

Good catch, Chere.

::He laughed hearing her tease him. Never at a loss for words he fired one back at her.::

When were a few hundred feet off of da ground, you can carry me anywhere you'd like, but when were on da ground I'll be doing the carrying if you don't mind. 'Sides, are you preposing to me, Rogue?

"...Therein lies the problem mon peu s'est levé, we don't have the luxury of walking in to a roadhouse, let alone a five star resteraunt. There is a place we can go, but we'll need to do whatever it takes to survive the trek."

He imitated the bear they had spied earlier including mimicing a paw, and lingered by the riverside for a while until he batted out a large fish. With sharpened claws he carefully stripped it clean and started cutting it into strips to be cooked.

"Pourquoi est-ce que ceci a dû se produire?"

"Qui peut indiquer? But you must start speaking English."

Rogue

"When were a few hundred feet off of da ground, you can carry me anywhere you'd like, but when were on da ground I'll be doing the carrying if you don't mind.
"'Sides, are you preposing to me, Rogue?"

Looking away from everything else, I grinned at him. "We get through this, who knows what's possible. I know that I've missed you, not a day has gone by that I haven't longed for you. We get through this and the inevitable 'Big Talk' and we'll see.
"But if so, we're both wearing engagement rings!"

Laughing, inside and out, I turned to do battle, heart light and ready to rumble. Eva, she didn't look so good.

"Gambit, you think you can handle Fantomex? I want to go check on Psylocke. If she's all that's controling Stormy, need her awake. Heck, I just want to know she's okay too."

::He was only joking when he said about getting married, but the thought wasn't necessarily out of the question. Now was not the time to be thinking about these things. He watched EVA and noticed that it wasn't doing well at all and would soon be on the ground.::

Come now, Chere, It's me we're talking 'bout. I think I can handle Fantomex, just watch out for da teleporter, she could be anywhere.

::Rogue swooped down tile she was about a story off the ground, then let Gambit go before heading toward EVA to find Psylocke. Gambit Dropped to the ground, rolled and spring upto his feet. From within his jacket he pulled out his adamantium staff and clicked the button making it go from a foot long to five feet. He then prapared for battle the best way that he knew how. He took his cigarettes out, popped one in his mouth and lit it with a lighter before tucking the lighter and cigarette pack back in his coat.::

Rogue

It wasn't until I left Gambit that I noticed my gloves were wearing thin. I sighed, wondering where I'd left my backpack, probably in the car somewhere.

Leaving Gambit to handle Fantomex, at least for the time being, I landed next to Psylocke's still form. Something about the way she sprawled on the ground raised the skin on the back of neck. Like something was wrong.

Kneeling, I reached out to her. "Psylocke, honey, you okay? That was a rough spill you took from the pink-porter."

Cable pulled out the com device again. He composed himself, then spoke quietly and calmly to Rogue. "We have a problem. We know Wizard's been infected, and it was assumed we could cure him if we could infect Sabertooth. However, Wizard is unable to feed, or whatever it is he does."

---

Wizard slowly removed his hands, a blank look on his face. He had just been doing what he was told, but now it seemed that wasn't enough. To top it off, he was getting angry. Not at the Xmen, of course, but at what had been done to him. The anger slowly overwhelmed the pain, and he stormed out of the cabin.

Fantomex

The Inside

"Oh if only I had more time." He thinks calmly as he can feel Eva struggling to maintain her position in the air in the midst of Storm's wind turrents.

He can hear the crackle of lightning followed only seconds later by a booming thunder.

"She's sparking" Fantomex says and quickly moves into the helm of his seat.

"We won't leave."

"No" Fantomex replies.

"We'll prepare her for impact."

Outside

The huge flying egg sways in the air as Storm's winds bombard the vessel. The first bolt of lightning slices through the air and Eva strains to maintain ascent. Another two strike her from below and above and she loses control and begins to fall to the ground. Above her, Gambit's dart explodes near the space she once occupied.

The huge vessel begins to fall toward the Earth quickly.

With a loud thump Eva hits the ground below and bounces a few times with smoke coming out of certain parts. A loud, persisten humming sound, similar to a car alarm seeps from her.

After a few seconds a bright light can be seen coming from A humongous trail of smoke comes out and rises into the sky obscuring the vision of what is happening below.

When the smoke begins to dissipate, a coughing, bloody Fantomex lies curled in the fetal position on the ground.

Fatale

Fatale rose from the ground with a pained look on her face that was only partially feigned. Maybe Storm was so filled with anger that she neglected allowing a more gentle descent via her wind currents are or maybe the infection she was plagued with was starting to worsen.

Looking up at Rogue Fatale could not help but marvel at how powerful appearances can be. Rogue looks to her with care and concern, not because of who she is but simply because of how she looks. If she were to show her true form she would look at her with anger, and maybe fear. Fatale thinks that's still only an appearance. If she could see who she really is, she would still look at her with anger, but definetely with fear.

She looks into her eyes and watches as the light twist into red photon beams that seem to come from her neck and parts of her head.

"He...he poked me in the neck with something. It just got dark and then I felt something....sting my neck...and then my head. Rogue" Fatale gave a pained look on her face.

"We have to find out if he's telling the truth. That masks protects his mind, if we could get it off then" Fatale looks at her clenched fist and twists the ligth into a finely shaped pink blade but purposely makes it go awry.

"Bastard, he is afraid of my telepathy. That's what he did, he did something to my telepathy. Rogue, you have to find out if he's telling the truth. How ever you can you have to do it."

::He watched EVA fall from the sky and gave a small curse when he saw that his dart missed. He took missing his targets as a personal assult at times. Once the initial explosions were over and the ship that was EVA was engulfed in a plume of smoke, Gambit slowly started to walk over to the crash site to see what was left.

As he approached the scene, he happened upon a bloody body curled up and on the ground. He assumed it was Fantomex and kept his distance while waiting for the others to join him on the ground.::

Rogue, I believe da crash took somet'ing out of our friend. What have you got over dere?

Fantomex

The smoke dissipated completely and Fantomex leaned up against Eva.

"I won't let you *cough* I won't let you get away with this. I know whose really behind this..." Fantomex looked at Gambit with cold hatred.

::Gambit tucked the staff beneath his arm and took a defensive stance as he watched Fantomex as he stood using EVA for support.~

Dere's nothing to get away with Fantomex. All I wanted was to keep you away from Rogue and to take back the disc you stole. I wouldn't even be here if Rogue's name wasn't on dat list. I would have went to Paris and started a life dere. Thankfully, I was brought into dis mess and because of this I got back the only thing dat means anything to me.

Fantomex

"Take back?" Fantomex thought for a moment. Eva was injured from the crash and was spending most of her energy to keep him from feeling pain so he thought for himself. He studied Gambit's moves closely.

"And who Mr. Lebeau, told you to take back the disc? Take back for who?" Fantomex spoke loudly hoping the others could hear.

Fatale in the guise of Psylocke began to limp toward Gambit and Fantomex, listening closely to what was being said.

::He got a half smile on his face. Telling someone the truth about your job wouldn't get you hired as a thief and he wasn't about to start disclosing his contacts now.::

What company or private contact I work for is none of your concern. I was asked to track you down and retrieve a disc by any means necessary and dat is what I plan to do. Now, Mon Ami, we can go about this one of two ways. Either you can give me da disc and you and your flying companion can leave or I can take da disc and you can hope dat you escape with just a limp or maybe just some scars.

Fantomex hoped that Storm and Rogue could hear.

He could look at how Lebeau shifted, the instinctive reaction to coverup something.

Lebeau was hiding something, and from his body language it looked like he was hiding it from his friends as much as he was Fantomex. To be sure Fantomex wanted to test him.

"So is that why you're here Rogue? You want to retrieve the disc as well?"

Rogue

"I don't want my name on any list of 'to be kidnapped' mutants," I said aloud, though most my attention was on Psylocke.

Her power had always been shades of violet, lavender, something along those lines, never pink. Only pink power I'd seen recently had been the pink porter. But it was Psylocke I saw in front of me... wasn't it?

Keeping my distance while staying between her and Gambit, I kept my guard up. If she was the porter, something would slip.

"Beth, I heard your name's on that list too, what do you think," I asked. If it was really Betsy, she'd hand me my ass in her own upper-crust kind of way. No one I knew, not even Mystique could pull that off right.

Storm listened closely to the exchange between Gambit and Fantomex. She couldn't kill Fantomex herself but wouldn't stop anyone else from doing it. He tricked her and helped infect her, so she had little sympathy for his plight. The only thing that gave her pause was that he was infected as well. She was suppose to get Rogue and they would give her the cure; what was he suppose to do to get the cure? She looked over at Psylocke. Psylocke didn't look so good but at least she was alive.

Fatale

Fatale slowly limps toward Fantomex and Gambit and brushes off Rogue's statement.

"Yeah" she says almost offhand and continues to limp forward.

Fantomex noticed that Storm was drawing closer.

Turning to her for a moment he pulled his glove off of his hand and waved at her showing a fleshy palm without the effects of Emplate's influence.

"I was waving at you before" he said.

"But you must not have been able to see me."

Rogue

The way she brushed off my comment told me that it wasn't the real Betsy I was talking to. The pink let me confirm it was Fatale and not Betsy with a power-cold of some sorts.

Watching her limp, I walked up to her, the picture of concern, "Here, let me help you."

Slipping a glove off behind her back was easy, as tattered as the cloth had gotten. I held my bare skin away from her body, waiting for the right moment to touch her.

My left hand, gloved securely still, nearly itched with the desire to punch her in the nose for taking Betsy.

Instead, I decided to be mean. "I'm sooo glad you're okay Beth, was worried that rather ugly pink porter had gotten you and dragged you someplace terrible. And did you see that costume she was in? Just horrificly ugly, don't you think? Matched her well though?"

Fatale

"Her costume was horrible." the mutant said still facing Gambit and Fantomex.

::Still in a guarded position with his staff tucked beneath his arm but ready to strike, Gambit noticed that it wasn't just he and Fantomex in the area. He now had to be careful about how he explained things. He would't want anything to slip out before it was time to have a sit down with Rogue and the rest of the Xmen.::

So, what's it going ta be, Mon Ami? Going to give me dat disc or are you going to make me take it from you?

::Seeing that Psylocke was coming closer, he turned slightly in his stance so that he could defend see everyone around him and noone was behind him. He then noticed that Rogue was with Psylocke.::

"I was waving at you before. But you must not have been able to see me."

The clouds started to churn again and there was a flash of lightning. Fantomex wasn't infected or if he had been he had already gotten the cure.

"From the looks of Eva, I would say that I waved back."

She would ask later how Gambit knew about the disk and who he was working for, but right now that had to deal with Fantomex and how to get back to the Institute. They could call and see who was at the mansion and get someone to fly the jet to pick them up.

"Gambit, I may have seen what is on the disk."

::He lowered the staff slightly hearing Storm say that she saw what was on the disc. What was so important on this disc that everyone was after? He was told it had a list of names and experiments that if given to the wrong hands could bring about the Apocolypse of both mutant and human kind. He couldn't deny he was curious as to what was on the disc though.::

What did you see, Stormy? What did the disc have on it?

::He looked at Rogue knowing that their names were said to have been on the list within the disc, then looked back at the group waiting and watching.::

Fantomex

"She saw the truth on the disc. If I told you ten years ago that Professor Xavier was secretly the creature known as Onslaught and he would betray the X-Men would you have believed me? I showed Storm the truth. Whether or not you believe it doesn't mean it still not fact. The bigger question is not on the disc lebeau, but why do you want it? Who sent you? Who are you working for?"

Fantomex looked closely at Gambit. He knew from studying Psylocke that she was not a player in this. Cable was not around for him to study but Lebeau was a loose end.

How did he come to find out of Fantomex's experiment in the country when he was not present at the mansion?

"It talked about creating a weapon, a predator that feeds off of mutants. It showed people getting infected with the same thing I was infected with. And you were shown on the disk as well, Gambit. You were in a containment field and they said that "he will lead us to them all". Fantomex said that the Weapon Plus program wants you, Rogue, Jubilee and me. But I don't know how much we can believe of what was on that disk or what Fantomex has said. Maybe if we take off his mask, Psylocke could read him."

Storm looked over at Gambit.

"We should probably disarm him first."

::Gambit was used to taking the blame for things from the future. He always seemed to be the fall guy. When the xmen were destroyed in the future he was said to have been the traitor and continued to fight Bishop about it until it was proven that Xavier not Gambit had been the traitor. This new information about him leading Fantomex and his new weapon to the X-men was just another case of mistaken facts. He wasn't about to get into a discussion about the future when it was the present he was worried about. Fantomex's words, though a neausance, served only to prolong the fight they would be engaging in.::

It doesn't matter who Im working for. Truth be told I'm not working for anyone but myself. All I will say now is dat Someone brought you and da disc of Weapon Plus Projects to my attention and gave me an offer I couldn't pass up.

::He looked at Rogue and saw that her eyes were trained on him. Rogue, Chere, when da time comes for our talk you will hear it all from me. For now I just hope you trust me::
