x men

Dead Hand looked at the book with mostly unintellegable scribbles all accross the page. For all he knew, it could be the language of magic, and alien cooking recepie, or the scribblings of a 1 year old child. Either way, it made absolutly no sense to him in the slightest. "So, you can, like, read this?"

"The question of the millennium is, is it mutant power, or magic"

"Well, i'm not exactly up on the whole philosophy thing myself. I find punching tends to get my point accross more effectivly, but I'd say in this case, is there any difference? I mean, mutants can do all kinds of strange stuff. Heck, some can even warp reality! Uhhh... I think what I'm trying to say kiddo, is that; Does it really matter? You got a gift, you use it. Is it's source as important as how it's used?"

Wizard found the strange mercenary's words comforting, in a strange, semimaniacal sort of way. Whether it was magic, mutant power, or divine light, it didn't really matter. They were his, that's all that mattered. At that moment, he went rigid, the book falling open to a blank page, and he pulled out a pen, writing even as his lips formed the words. Suddenly, the cueball on the pool table froze solid, as if touched by liquid nitrogen. Then, in a flash, it exploded, spraying chunks of frozen material outwards, before he stopped writing.

When he looked up, he saw what had happened, and grimaced. "Oh boy, I'm in trouble now."

Dead Hand whistled as he brushed the remains of the ball off of his jacket. "Got that straight junior! I can probably cover the window, but there's no way I can pass off an exploding cue ball as my work" Dead hand pulled his mask back down and tossed his empty soda bottle into the trash. "But I like you kid. Got good tastes. Well, in women at least" He chuckled a bit. "I'll do what I can to cover for ya when Rogue gets back, and if it devolves into a fistfight, well, I'm a better guy to get slugged, y'know?"

OOC: to give Vix and Shaq time to catch up, i'm going to post my first Mutant Rights Activist post

IC: Kain Archeval was considered strange by the political community. He always wore black, no matter what the weather. He never wore a watch, relying instead on the sun to tell the time. And he always took the train to work. But that wasn't why everyone considered him strange. He was a normal man, his odd habits notwithstanding, but he supported Mutant Rights. Everyone made fun of his choice to do so, except those who knew why. Two years ago, Kain was against Mutant Rights. He believed that mutants were threats to humanity...all mutants. Shortly after issuing a public statement to that effect, he was caught in a crossfire between two rival gangs of mutants. They would have killed him, if not for the intervention of a third group of Mutants, that called itself the Xmen, rescued him. They swiftly dealt with the warring factions, and dropped him off outside his home. Since then, he has supported Mutant Rights, and told everyone that there are mutants out there who AREN'T the enemy, mutants who protect both human AND mutant.

He currently stood in his office, reading a file on a government-paid group of mutants, similar to the Xmen, who did the same job but with government backing. He was preparing to issue a statement in regards to the attack that had just been on the news.

i'd like to invite you guys to join another Xmen rp....it's on a friend's forum and i was planning on turning it or parts of it into a fanfic (yes, i want to end up paired with Rogue...meow)

Xmen-Lovers and Fighters

Rogue

I looked around the War Room and saw the dang near copywrited blue "X" logo on the man's outfit. "Well, if that doesn't throw the cat in the canaries... Alex, we're going need help."

OOC: not much else I can do without a reply from Shaq

OOC: he was on earlier too, and didn't post

Wizard nodded, thanking the strange man silently. He didn't think it would come to that, but Rogue tended to be unpredictable. Still, he didn't think she would flip out over a cueball. Now, if it had been her favorite pool cue, he would probably be dead where he stood. He sighed, and then picked up his backpack, intending to head to his room and download music to his MP3 player. He walked out of the game room, and started to walk past the war room, only to be stopped by the conversation. He stood behind the slightly open door, listening.

OOC:I was pmed to come to this forum by shaq or something he asked me about creating magma I'm waiting for a thumbs up so...ya lol

OOC: ok, to give Vix something to post to while Shaq is AWOL <<

Suddenly, the door opened wide and Wizard fell into the room. He winced, hitting his elbow on the floor, and fell right at the feet of Rogue. He looked up, and gave a sheepish grin, embarrassed both by the fact that he looked silly, and the fact that he now got caught listening in.

Professor Xavier

"Good of you to join us Rogue. But I'm afraid the circumstances are more severe than you think. We have been monitoring Fantomex's battle here in the war room. After examining numerous angles of the melee we have determined a number of things. It appears as though he was the target of this attack. We also believe that Wade Wilson or Deadpool is the man attempted to kill Fantomex. But we found something even more troubling."

Professor Xavier rewinds the video and pauses it on a frame.

"Fantomex is wearing one of our communication devices. While we have autenticated it we are not sure how he came to possess it. The model is clearly new, but the contour around the edge in this corner suggests that it maybe from yo-"

"It's mine." Havok says as he faces the wall.

"What!?" Cyclops exclaims. "How did he get your communication device?"

"I didn't give it to him Scott! I lost it months ago. When we travelled to Japan to investigate the chemical incident. When I got hit I was knocked unconscious. When I woke up it was gone. I figured I lost it when I hit the ground."

"Funny, I don't remember you mentioning that in your field report Alex."

"No Scott, I decided to emphasize the fact that we saved lives back there so I put that in the Memo's subject line instead."

"Still, it was irresponsible. As field leader you have to account for-"

"Gentlemen," Professor Xavier says interrupting them. "We have more pressing concerns than inventory accounting oversights. Fantomex's gesture was not unnoticed by us. It will not go unnoticed by the media and-"

"It won't go unnoticed by authorities." Jean Grey says finishing the sentence.

"Exactly. For whatever reason Fantomex has implicated the X-Men in his actions. Though we are entirely innocent it will compromise our ability to be visible participants in finding the cause of this attack."

"But you said he was coming here? And that he needed our help? If he needed us to help him why would he do this?" Havok asks.

"I don't know Alex but when he arrives I intend to find out." the Professor answers.

"So we are going to help him?" Jean asks.

"We are going to investigate." The Professor replies.

"Which is why Rogue, I want you to work closely with Havok. Most of your team is helping Nightcrawler on a mission and they will not be back in time to receive the threat that Fantomex poses. Unfortunately, Jean's and my telepathy has proven to be ineffective against Fantomex's defeneses. I pray it not come to this but we may need you...."

The Professor looks at Rogue and hopes she understands. In the past Fantomex has been an ally but an uneasy one. He has implicated the X-Men in an attack at a time when tensions are high and the government is looking to make examples out of rogue mutants.

Hoping she understands and agrees Xavier turns to both her and Havok.

"I would like you to fortify your team. Ask Deadhand and Wizard if they will accompany you to receive Fantomex. I will monitor you all telepathically. If he comes to do harm I would like to know so that Scott, Jean and I can formulate a plan of defense against him."

Pressng the fingers on both hands to his temples Professor Xavier closes his eyes.

"His ship, his partner, E.V.A is calling me. I can sense her mind, she is afraid of....those who chase her and....someone here."

"Fantomex is afraid of someone in the mansion Professor?" Jean asks.

"Yes, but who, and for what reason, I am not able to tell."

"He's probably afraid one of the X-Men will see through his bullshit." Cyclopys mutters.

Turning to Rouge and Havok the Professor says "He will arrive shortly at the main gates. Gather the others and stand on the front lawn to receive him. Try not to provoke Fantomex but be ready for anything. Jean and I will monitor you from here. Godspeed."

Havok

Stepping out from behind Rogue, Alex wonders what is huddled in front of her on the ground.

Rolling his eyes he wonders why life is so unfair. He had to give a blood sacrifice on another planet before Xavier would consider him a full member of the team and now a child and a mercenary were getting all the priviledges of being an X-Man because his team is so well trained Nightcrawler needed them to help his.

Breathing deeply for a moment Havok chastizes himself for his ego. Nightcrawler's team would have been fine, his team wasn't doing anything and it would have secured the mission even further. He knows what is really bothering him. How dare Scott call him out in front of Xavier's like that? When Nightcrawler or Storm makes a mistake he never sees Scott chide them like children.

Raising his eyebrows and feeling a tinge of sadness and jealousy, Alex notes that on the other hand, he's never seen Storm or Nightcrawler make a mistake.

Looking down on the ground Havok recognizes the prize pupil. Somewhat coldly he doesn't offer to help him up but keeps walking.

"You're with us." he says and continues walking toward the front lawn.

Fantomex

The screaming teenager runs past the cereal aisle and finds his mother. She looks afraid. She has just heard shooting and she wonders what is happening. The son runs right into his mothers chest and throws his arms around her.

"Muuuuhmeeee!" he cries. "Th-th-there's a man with a gun and a mask and he's shooting people!" the young boy sobs into his mothers body.

"Oh no" Fantomex says as he walks upon the two huddled together.

"Whatever will I do?" he says calmly as he shoves a clip of ammo into one of his weapons.

Going in the direction that the boy just fled from Fantomex smiles under his mask.

Fantomex watches as hordes of people scurry from the front of the store toward the back. All he has to do is walk away from the crowd and they will lead him straight toward the man he hired to kill him.

"Deadpooooool! Come out come out- BANG!" he fires a round at the first glimpse of red he sees.

"C'mon Wade. Show yourself. I have been expecting you." he says quietly.

Wizard blinked, then stood up quickly, and brushed himself off. He hadn't expected to be taken on a mission, but was glad that he'd have a chance to try out some of his new spells. He didn't know that right now that mission would be comprised of seeing a possible enemy safely into the mansion. He straightened his coat, and then looked up, seeing Havok and Rogue leaving him behind, and ran after them, falling into step behind Rogue. He hoped he hadn't made a bad impression on the southern belle, and mentally cursed himself for not expecting the door to give way like that.

As he walked, he pulled out his book, reviewing some of the words in it again, thinking it was best to be prepared. After all, the Xmen's job was never easy, and if he was going to prove himself worthy, he'd need to be ready for anything. He closed the book suddenly, and looked at Havok, before speaking.

"Thank you for letting me accompany you. I'll do my best to prove worthy of your trust, sir." 'And stay out of your way' He added mentally.

Havok

"I would offer to brief you but I assume you already know the assignment. Rogue and I will take lead. Jus pay attention to how we handle the situation and follow us." Havok says.

"And say out of our way." he thinks to himself.

Hitting his X communication device Havok contacts Cyclops. "Location?"
"Gameroom" Scott radio back.

Turning toward the direction of the gamesroom Havok felt badly about how coldly he treated Wizard. It wasn't that different from how coldly he had been treated he thought and it was something that always bothered him.

Walking through the gamesroom Havok decided to play it cool. He didn't know exactly why Deadhand was staying with the X-Men and he definetly didn't trust him. The Professor did but Havok was always wary of the Professor's desire to "take chances" on reforming certain people. Sure it worked with him, Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, Emma, Rogue, Warpath, Domino, Ca...."hmm." he thought to himself. Maybe the Professor knew what he was doing with Deadhand.

"Deadhand. We've got a situation. You're with us." Havok said without losing a step and proceeded in the direction of the front lawn of Xavier's.

Dead Hand looked up from the sofa, slightly supprised when the X-Man called Havock walked in and in no uncertain terms told him to follow. Shrugging to himself, and switching off the TV, he stood up and walked out of the gameroom, following Havock, the southern belle called Rogue, and the kid called Wizard. "So, what's up? Cat stuck up a tree?" He chuckled to himself

Wizard

Wizard smiled, and continued to follow Havok, walking with Rogue. He hoped this went uneventful, but on the other hand, he also hoped for some action. Still, he couldn't help but wonder what this all meant. He was especially interested in this Deadpool person. He himself had a great interest in guns, and had about sixteen books, provided to him by Longshot, covering the variety of weapons used by both civilians and military. He also had a large amount of books on melee weapons, including one written by a mutant named Psylocke. He probably had more books on weapons than Logan had weapons, and that was saying something.

He nodded to Deadhand, and tossed him an apple from his backpack. He pulled some trail mix out for himself, feeling the sudden need to eat thanks to the earlier use of his powers. It always happened that way, he needed to ingest a huge amount of food to maintain his energy levels. Some of the younger students at the academy always marvelled at how much he could eat, and Storm had always told him he had the appetite of Galactus and the body of an Mbuti warrior.

Havok

Walking out to the main lawn Havok watched his comarades carefully.

Rogue looked every bit the part. He could tell by her face that she was prepared to face Fantomex.

The other two looked, well, he wasn't sure exactly what they looked like.

He noted that Wizard brought food with him. He wondered if he was eating out of nervousness or something else?

Alex kicked himself for not paying closer attention to the student files. He remembers Emma mentioning some of the brighter students at Xavier's those that had the ability to perhaps become X-Men one day. He knows she said Wizard but other than that....

Alex opens the doors to the entrance to Xavier's. He has never met Fantomex before but he knows that his "spaceship" will probably land directly in front of them eliminating the need to open the gates.

"He's coming" Professor Xavier tells the group telepathically.

Alex squints his eyes and looks into the dark night sky. Suddenly, he sees and object, a small dot at first, appear in the distance. Finally he sees that the dot is moving.

As it gets closer and closer he sees what appears to be a giant sphere sitting atop 4 insect like legs.

"Be ready."

Havok watches as the craft begins to land.

Wizard leaned up against the wall, still munching on his trail mix. Rogue might have been the only one there who knew why he was eating, and judging from the look on Havok's face, his actions were confusing. He shrugged it off, and watched the ship move closer. He had seen some of the ships used by the military, and the ones used by the Shiar were well designed, but this one was something else. It moved so fast it was almost a blur, and came to a stop, hovering over the ground for a moment, before settling.

He looked at Rogue, and smiled, then looked back at the ship, hoping there was more to this mission than it looked like. Still, if that broadcast had been true, this guy was going to need immediate medical attention, and would probably be only the first of many visitors.

Dead Hand inwardly sighed to himself. Not even the slightest reaction! Wilson's classes obviously hadn't been worth the burger and $2.50 he had paid with. Rolling up part of his mast, he took a bite from the apple before rolling his mask back down again. They had stopped outside, and noted something floating down out of the sky. Dead Hand couldn't resist the pull of another joke as he stood in a rather relaxed manner. "Control, the Beagle has landed"

OOC: Chronicle should be on soon. Remember his battle with fantomex is occuring before now. But certain things that happen during it may be worth keeping an eye on.

Anyone heard from chewey?

Rogue

I followed Alex down the hall, Wizard and Deadhand joining us for the fun to come. I fought to hold back a laugh at Alex's expression when Wizard pulled out a bag of trail mix and started munching away.

I knew the kid had to eat, many of us, myself included, ate high calorie diets to help replenish the energy we used.

"Control, the Beagel has landed."

I grinned at the joke but said nothing about it as we watched the ship touch down. Taking a deep breath, I centered myself, ready for a fight or ready for peace either way would work for me.

Hovering in place ever so slightly, I said to Wizard, "You'll do fine, just follow our lead. And nothing too sparky, don't want to give away just how much magic you have yet, sugah."

Wizard grinned again, putting the trail mix back in his backpack. He had a new toy to test out anyways, and judging from the design of it, not even Colossus could break it. He stepped away from the wall, saying a single word, and the entire courtyard was bathed in a harsh white light.

"Shirak." He knew it was a purely defensive spell, but the lights they had tended to be rather poor out here. He watched as the hatch opened on the ship, and absently hummed a tune his mother used as a lullaby when he was a baby.

Rogue had often heard him humming this same tune in classes, and would have recognized it instantly, even if she had no idea where it came from. The tune often came to him when he was restless or bored, and didn't seem to have a purpose to him. This night, however, the tune caused the wings on the sword's handle to glow with a blue light.

"Subtle, Wizard, really subtle," Rogue said with a shake of her head. She smiled as he began to hum, recognising the song from when he was in class (she still had no idea why she got pulled to be the substitute teacher for scuba classes).

The ship's landing and hatch opening looked like it should be in a high-budge b movie not the manicured lawn of the X Mansion.

"These are strange times," she whispered to no on in particular.

Wizard

Wizard grinned, still humming, then stopped suddenly. He thought he saw movement, then realized it was just the shifting of the light. He sighed, then went back to leaning on the wall. He was standing right next to Rogue, glad for her company, and grinned again when she muttered something. He had barely caught it, and shook his head, thinking she was right. He looked at Dead Hand for a second, then turned to Rogue, a look of impish glee on his face.

"So, Rogue, and I know i'm going to regret saying this, but it was his idea, but....Want to see my sword?" He flashed an evil grin at DeadHand.
