Hahaha, I don't really feel that I need a post goal, although if I hadn't abstained from Lit for about three months (just lost interest for a while) I would probably be on the verge of hitting 10,000. I just like to meet new people, so I figured that this would be a good place to start.Xelebes said:And I'll help you too if you see it as a goal to reach for, too.
And I just realized that you're only a few months older than me. I always like meeting people closer to my age. Not that I don't adore the people on Lit who are older than me, but sometimes it's nice to just chat with someone who is my peer.Xelebes said:Well, I took a little break for 2 or 3 months myself so.... uh yeah.
I joined in the November of 2003, so I would've been 18 and 3 months.Xelebes said:The scary fact is, you might even be a year older than me. Or something. Did you join when you just turned 18?

Is something wrong? I ask only because of the ack. And Canada is cool.Xelebes said:Well, I am on. tonight. In Canada. I'm not making this up.
ack.

No.Xelebes said:You have not been reading Canadian political humour lately, it appears.
Ahh. Well, I don't remember any Bush campaign ads that were like that, but I do remember seeing dozens of ones rubbing 9/11 in our faces, saying that he did so well with it and everything that happened afterwards. Arg. I just hope to god (and I'm agnostic) that Mitt Romney does not manage to become president. It's bad enough with how he's been handling Massachusetts (I know! Let's take all of the funding away from our public schools! That will make them better! Force them into privatization!), but I fear what he could do to the nation. *shudder*Xelebes said:Well, right now Canada is having a federal election. There are five parties running for office, two of them are likely to bring forth a prime minister. Those two would be the Liberals (Grits) and the Conservatives (Tories). Over the past decade, there has been dealings of embezzling nature by the Liberal party members and are currently being beleaguered by this. The English debate (since there are two debates, one in English and French) had the Liberal leader Paul Martin come out as the loser as he threw a few oddballs and all in all looked tired and disheveled. Support for his part was waning and the Tories were finally pulling ahead. This had the Liberals really worried, so they put out a TV ad in Quebec (since that is where it is becoming really contested between three parties - Bloc, Tories and Grits) with the basic premise:
"Guns.
In Canada.
We're not making this up."
This, apparently following suit with the Liberal's handgun ban platform. But this was just really off and outrageously baffling. Shit hit the fan and this was the real kicker with the Tories looking to have at least a minority government. You'll see this everywhere nowadays here.
Anyways, apparently this little bit comes straight from the Bush campaign in 2004 or something like that which smacks of irony considering Martin's and fellow Grits' comments towards the US.
He's the Governor of Massachusetts.Xelebes said:I know not who Mitt Romney is, so I shall take your word about him.
