You know you're a Lit author when...

I have a silly anecdote in the spirit of the thread

A relative of mine recently had a stroke; she’s recovering well, and we’re very pleased about that, but the rehab place gave us a bunch of guidelines, treatment plan stuff, etc. One of them was an acronym for when to call 911 in case she might be having another stroke.

A couple days ago, I was just... like, so exhausted. And it popped into my head while I was thinking about something else.
But I could only remember bits about it, not the actual acronym. I knew it started with a B. So I was thinking to myself, "Bread? No, it has two words, and one has two letters. Breed me?”
...
...
...
“What the actual fuck is wrong with me?"

It's "BE FAST," by the way.

Have definitely done this. Sometimes it takes an extra read through to figure out what's wrong with this situation...
I've done it, too. And of course a reader pointed it out. One minute her hands are tied and not long after she's running her fingers through his hair.

But then again, it could be that he was just lousy at tying knots.

I did something similar but I had wrote that a girl was playing with her clit while a guy fucked her. At 3am I remembered that I had the guy tie her up before he started fucking her. Oops :giggle:
It’s even worse when you’re writing a series with recurring characters. Yikes.

Time to diagram your sentences 🙄

It all depends on where and how you tie her hands. Yeah, we're talking Lit Author information.

That's what I love about this place. In one thread you can find 48 posts arguing about the same 14-word sentence, and in another innocent mistakes become bondage discussions.

It's amusing, interesting and invigorating at every turn.

I've not been arguing. That's not like me a'tall. I'm so easy to get along with its almost a crime.

You spend half an hour wondering if you've used the word "beautiful" too many times in a story and whether "lovely" or "attractive" might be substituted, and you find that your thesaurus opens to that entry almost automatically.

When you get this comment from Anon.

"I didn't bother reading it, I knew I'd hate it, just skipped through it to give you a 1 and move on to a better story!"
"i was forewarned to skip this story if i didn t like when cheaters don t pay the price ......so i did and gave you 1 star" from: Phone Call

... when your trolls actually get excited that your new story comes out so they can make sure the 1 key on their keyboard still works
Back when I used to follow my scores, I noticed my stories always started out decently, then without fail between 12-1 I'd take a bunch of bombs. Apparently my trolls spent their lunch sniping me. Back then there was no delay on comments, and there would always be a couple of nasty ones during that same time frame.

It seems there is no delay on comments now. At least, when I respond, it goes straight through these days. Why back in the olden days, took hours tell a jerk he was a jerk.

From what I gather, there is no delay if you're a registered member, I think the delay now is just anon. Makes sense seeing anon is usually the issue.

There’s still a delay for some registered members, too. I still have to wait for batches.

MY trolls are quicker, they pounce first so I get to watch my stories that that long, torturous climb to H territory

--- when the story that you carefully crafted, with the characters you created and nurtured and the plot you're sure will bring in the bucks when you publish barely gets noticed, however the 3,000 word "stroker" you published on a long and drunken night has a 4.93 score and is garnering 400 votes a day.

The rarefied air of the red H territory. Umm, I love the smell of red Hs cooking in the morning. Too bad I don't get that scent often.

When you receive a request to write a plant invasion story for the Halloween contest, and you must send the response, I did that already.
