Young Justice/Teen Titans (OOC)

Step 4: Start a new OOC thread. That might make it easier for people -- like Miss "tight_n_ready" -- to sift through and find the actual 'game info' as it pertains to the roleplay....whilst keeping the OTHER 'fun' talk...separately.

It's all about your approach. You want it, you take that 'bull' by the horns! ;)

I don't think there is anything I could do to get Tighty back -- I even offered to do a M'gann/Superboy one-on-one, but I think she is just burnt out on it. My superhero RPs fail every single time, and I am not eager to try again because I know I'll put all this effort in and end up right back where I am now again. So I'm done, lol. I don't want to put any more effort into RPs that people are going to quit and run away instead of trying to find a way to work together. I've quit myself in the past, though, so I can't really blame anyone.

Have you guys seen the Scientifically Accurate DuckTales video? They also do Sonic the Hedgehog, TMNT, Pokemon, and others.

No, Lachy has just been talking to me, and he's right, I shouldn't just back out of this because I got upset. And neither should you Chas.

I'm willing to still give this a shot if you guys are?

Can I suggest something though?

A posting order...

The reason I keep getting so lost is A) The OOC was often filled up with irrelevant stuff, but that's been addressed now.

B) There are so many combatants involved. It's hard enough when you're keeping track of five or six player characters, and then you throw six 'Name' enemies into the mix. That and if you get caught up in RL for more than a day, what with differing timezones and so on, there have been huge amounts of action that have simply passed you by. I rarely come back from having a 'good day' and a great deal of the time I just can't stomach having to trawl through fifteen or sixteen posts and work out who is or isn't in danger, who is 'available' to be fought, and so on.

I would like to suggest that the next posts, one by everyone be 'locked' into that order. We remember this order, then, if someone doesn't post for three days you go onto the next in the order. It just means that I can track what on earth is going on in the fights. I like to play MM as a lovable teammate, sometimes helpful, but just as likely to get in the way (at least at the beginning) as she is to help.

As to Steel, I'm sorry Chas, I overreacted, I know that gadgeteers are often there to provide the solution to often unbeatable problems. I personally just prefer that there might be more of a pause between them, or certain rules applied. For example, she shocks the Sins, so therefore she is not capable of standing up to Superboy, that worked, where he beat the crap out of you. I understand that you and Jeff were likely discussing how to beat him because I was less than active at the time. I'm in my final year at University at the minute, and have a lot of deadlines coming up, so I'm struggling to keep up with that and my online commitments. I personally would find a posting order very helpful.

Well...

Are we up for it?

*smiles to Miss "tight_n_ready"**thu-WHOMPS "The_Jeffinator" for.....**ATTEMPTING**...to...repetitively...hand-in-the-towel...on his own roleplay!!!*

Get it together, man. PEOPLE need you. INNOCENT people out there. It's time to be a hero! Pretend you're Nightwing. And 'everyone' else is looking up to you. Doesn't pay to quit. Keep at it.

That's what I keep trying to hit home to you. Keep at it, dammit!

*grin*

....I'd seriously think about making that new OOC too. A clean 'wash/reset' on that might make things easier too. I personally like your whole thing that you always got going on with your IC stuff, at the beginning of your thread. Which you always implement. Your 'episode' gig(s). And the addition of the covers is pretty sweet too!

Anyhow. My work here is done, I believe....now that you guys might be back on the *RIGHT* track. Stay the course, people! Hehe.

;)

(oh, and congratulations on coming thus far in your academic institutionalizing pursuits, Miss "tight_n_ready"! -- you're almost there...hang in there, your efforts shall be rewarded tremendously!!*yayyyy**smiles*)

Overall, I think the problem with the posting order is that if we have a three day window for everyone, then one person could potentially have to wait eighteen days to post again in a worst case scenario. As Sean has said, these things tend to lose steam and die off if new posts aren't coming quick enough. In my original Teen Titans RP, it was going so strong for a while that every player was posting like five or six times a day. I remember a few times myself and a few others would be up all night going back and forth and by morning there would be like four pages of new posts, lol.

I understand it can be overwhelming, especially when you are in your last year of Uni. I personally love when there are a lot of posts because by the time I am done reading them I am usually all amped up and ready to write mine, and I often find myself laughing out loud when reading through Sean's and Remec's posts, especially. To me, reading the story is just as much fun as writing it. Granted, it takes more time to get through when there are a lot of posts to read.

I never write new posts on my phone because I like to type them up in a word processor, but I often read everyone's else's entries on my phone when I am on the shitter or during a slow period at work or something.

We could do the posting order, but then posts will be much longer because you have to respond to what everybody else did all in one shot. What does everyone else think?

I obviously don't know how many things you guys are dealing with so maybe I'm just disorganised, but I can't keep up with that.

When we were just starting we were introducing all of the characters and in that week I was teching for six shows, had a research proposal due in, lectures and tutorials to attend, a part-time job and my councillor. Not to mention the other RPs I am involved in.

Before I could even sit down and properly write a post to start building character relationships we had moved on.

I'd love to be able to sit down and post away with you for four pages, but I can't. And while I love reading the story, I am really struggling to actually engage with it.

As you say, then everyone would have to respond to all of the previous posts. I am already doing that. In Every. Single. Post.

I love reading the story, but I simply have no stake in it, and I read, realise that anything where I could have actually developed some interesting character interaction has been skipped past in favour of action scenes in which I am frequently ignored... Once again...

I made an effort to interact with one character, and was completely passed over. If other people aren't going to bother reading previous posts why should I?

Fortunately Chas did step in here and allowed me to engage in the RP once more.

Not to mention I am in a different timezone.

It's not been made clear but I am pretty sure you guys are based in America right? Or a few of you at least. And I am in the UK. So you guys can have an enjoyable time in the same timezone posting back and forth, and I return to find that once again I have missed having any chance of having any impact in the storyline. Which simply makes me feel like shit and far less inclined to post.

Most of you clearly don't need the window, but I do, otherwise I find that I simply can't keep up, and then I lose any kind of motivation to do so, because it's becoming pretty clear to me by that point that none of you are particularly worried about my posts anyway...

*trying to write his Gambit post at the moment**pushes pause on that....potentially, very long...drawn out...endeavor(heh)**to come back to this!*

My roleplay is...kinda the OPPOSITE of this one. On the way that it operates. Because of "my" speed. Or lack there of! Because I'm slow, and because "I" personally GM differently than you "The_Jeffinator"(in that I actually respond to character's actions, each time(mostly).....people are thereby *WAITING* on ME, for things to progress. Constantly. So....it's more on MY shoulders. I could be playing one or two characters in the story. But because I'm GM'ing, and have to 'respond' to like three or more scenarios going on at once. It's almost like I'm "playing"(writing for) like FIVE characters! ME? FIVE CHARACTERS? *gaaaaaaaaasp* Give me the heart attack now!!!!

Hehe.

So yeah. Extreme opposite. "We" are so slow and steady(like the tortoise), it's not funny. Or maybe it is. But what's true, is it's consistent. Constant. And has been, since I have BEEN in the roleplay since its inception. Like that first month after I joined the site. Around the same time I joined your original Young Justice roleplay in 2013! Like I said, because "I" want it that badly. I am doing EVERYTHING in my power to make it happen. It's my will. It SHALL be done. And it is. Goodness it really is! ;)

So while we really may not have the "speed"....we definitely have some good 'quality' in mine. As I'm sure you guys have in yours here!

Miss "tight_n_ready" raises some good points though. On time zone. On character interactions. On people acknowledging other people's posts(that's big time!). I can only offer support here, from the outside....since I'm not.....IN this roleplay. (heyy, remember...don't put me *FURTHER* in the 'doghouse', 'kay?? heheh)

One idea I thought about was one you had suggested a while back, Tighty -- a new, independent superhero world. No pre-existing continuities, powers, or characters, just a brand new story that we write from the ground up. No debates over which version of DC heroes and villains we are using, no arguments over whether something flies in the comics versus real life, etc.

If we did this new superhero world, we could have a really simple origin -- our characters are friends who are camping out in the mountains to watch what is supposed to be a really spectacular meteor shower, but are shocked and excited when they witness an actual meteorite crash into the forested valley below. They rush down as fast as they can to check it out, and similar to the movie Chronicle, the meteorite makes them all feel dizzy, they hear a loud ringing in their ears, and their noses bleed. Fearing they will suffer radiation poisoning, they flee back to their camp, and start to feel better. But over the next few days, they start to develop superpowers. They also discover meteorites have fallen in multiple locations as part of that same shower, thus giving abilities to others as well. Some become heroes and vigilantes, others use their powers for greedy or evil purposes, but all fear the military's determination as it desperately tries to grasp what has happened and exert it's dominance over the new Mutants/Metahumans/Xenohumans/whatever we want to call them.

Parts of it would feel kinda X-meny in that there will be jealously and prejudice between those with powers and those without.

It's at least an idea to consider as an alternate to the pre-existing continuities present in DC RPs and the type. What do you guys think?

Hey, your posts matter to me :). I had Nightwing pull M'gann in and made her needed with the psychic link, didn't I? And the biggest reason I was looking forward to playing Superboy was to have a romance with you/M'gann, right? In past YJ RPs, I would feel so sad when you left because I wanted us to have our M'gann/Conner romance so bad. But it's more than the characters involved -- I wanted to write a romance with you :).

And I'm not sure how many of the others are, but yes, I am in America, specifically Florida. Right now here it's 11:11am.

Usually, I post in the morning or late afternoon. I work Tuesday night through Saturday night, 11pm to 7am. I'm off Sunday and Monday nights. Most mornings, I get off at 7, wait around at work until 7:45ish for my brother-in-law to pick me up, then we head over to the hotel where my sister works. She gets off at 8am, which is why I wait for a while, so that the BIL doesn't have to go out twice. Her and I both work at La Quinta Inns -- I helped train her at my property back in August. My hotel is in Clearwater, hers is here in Pinellas Park.

We're usually home by about 8:15-8:20, after which I immediately turn on my computer and let it start up while I change out of my work clothes. Then I get any shows from the night before downloading and go take my morning dump, visit with the kitties, grab some breakfast, and sit down in front of my screen. If I have no shows to download, I'll watch Netflix or YouTube while I eat, and then I get to work on a post if needed. If it's not time yet for me to post, I may play video games or just keep watching videos until around 12:00 -- 1:00pm, when I go to sleep. Then I wake up at around 9:00-9:30pm to get ready for work and start over again, lol.

And now you have my schedule, whether you wanted to see it or not :D.

EDIT: What do the rest of you do for a living?

I think we can salvage this group.

She has a point about how many combatants there were and it being hard to keep up with.

The ooc was way out of control, and the "debates".

I like the idea of starting a new universe free of backstory and continuity.

We should use a post order, but not so rigid as, say, me always posting 3rd. Maybe if we make sure that no one posts twice before everyone posts once.

Jeff as the GM could be the arbiter of turns and his posts would mark that round ending.

We'd need to start over with a new ooc thread and an oog thread to keep it readable.

Obviously everyone got their feelings stepped on in this, but I hope we can continue.

Yadda yadda, my opinion is known, yadda, yadda, still here. . .someone want Scrooge and that's awesome cus I'm Drake Mallard and the rest of you can suck on my sweaty balls, yadda yadda, Chas is female Gizmo duck and it'll be funny, yadda yadda. . .wait someone convinced Jeff to do a version with no restrictions? I've been working on that for. . .how many years. You better have a vagina cus then I won't murder you! I'll do something bad but you'll be able to tell your friends!

I actually have a Lounge I've used for years, so we can post all random shit there from now on: http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=585639 First started this baby in 2008, lol.

We could make the posting order work like that without defined turns, such as always going third, as you said, Lily. I could make the first post, then everyone replies once, though it doesn't have to be in a set order. But each person only posts once. Then, once each person has posted, I'll post again, starting a new round, as you said. And if someone thinks they can't post for a few days, they can just forfeit that particular round or "stack" their actions for the next several rounds or something. We can also try and keep the posts short and clean to make it easier to read through.

Who said anything about no restrictions? :D?

I'm not a huge fan of post restrictions all things said. I work hard to balance between flooding the story and just posting when I should. I'm also one of the guys whos on the fence with "God Moding." Not only would I have had no problem with a pretty generic post from Jeff saying, he commanded run and they all ran (with the possibility one of us did something stupid) it would have saved me a post of obeying.

If I start I promise you I will shut you down if the science of Duckberg starts to bother ye.. Scrooge can infact swim through gold coins like it was water. It doesn't need a reason, it just works

LOL. OMG. Are you actually starting a Duck RP? I'm not even gonna touch that one, haha. I'm assuming you watched the video I linked since you mentioned the gold pile? :D.

So, what do you think about the independent superhero RP?

Oh, and I have to point out, the term is usually "God Modding," not "God Moding." I understand "Moding" makes one think of a "God Mode," but "Modding" refers to modifying the way the world works. For instance, in Skyrim, God Mode just makes you immortal and prevents your bars from depleting, whereas "Modding" the game lets you do just about anything, even alter reality and summon anything imaginable into the game world. In reference to an RP, "God Modding" generally means doing anything you want with absolutely no restrictions.

I believe it started out as "god moding," Jeff, in connection with the "god mode" of yore, but the typo was so frequent that "god modding" became an acceptable term in its own right, and actually more common-- especially since "modding" as in "modifying" or acting like a "moderator" do go well with the word.

For whatever it's worth, both versions of "godmoding" and "godmodding" are in Urban Dictionary, but Wiktionary only has "godmoding."

This is a literal "I've heard it both ways." I actually prefer "godmoding" because it makes more sense in my head-- you're using a cheat-code to be invincible, after all.

I might actually go with a female Bushroot, to be honest-- a Poison Ivy to Bushroot's Woodrue. Playing Morgana Macawber would be tempting, too, but still.

But I do still love the idea of a cantankerous old Scrooge, a gentleman's hero, pinballing off of Drake's more youthful, break-the-rules style.

Though I would have to do something about the lightning bolt on top of Scrooge's mask, that thing looked atrocious.
