Young Justice/Teen Titans (OOC)

Well, I'm gonna head to bed. Let me know if you guys want to do the independent superhero RP. If everyone votes yes, I'll get that thread going over my days off. As for the YJ/TT one... I dunno. I feel like we'll keep running into the same problems. Mostly everyone has made it clear that most of the problem is me and my obsession with fitting the story into what I consider acceptable, so I am reluctant to put any more effort into this. It has already been pointed out that my rewriting the DC Universe is a problem, and both Sean and Remec seem to have expressed desires for us to use existing, canonical continuities instead of the one created for this RP.

So, I dunno. A big part of me wants to retire this RP and never again play in existing properties/continuities. I feel like if I keep RPing, it's best to stick to original settings from now on, or at least settings only lightly based on established worlds -- for instance, some names and characters inspired by DC or Marvel, but existing on their own.

An example of this would be our Titans characters existing in the real world, taking the place of our original characters for the meteor shower idea I had. In this type of setting, Conner Kent would not be a clone or half-alien or anything -- he'd be a normal human who gained the ability to absorb solar energy from the meteorite. M'gann would not be a Martian, but a normal human girl who gained psychic powers and the ability to shapeshift, as well as green skin as her new natural color. Gar Logan would have gained similar shapeshifting powers and green skin. Natasha would have developed the ability to mentally sync with electronic devices and absorb knowledge faster, making her a super genius.

Something like this is probably the only way I think we could carry on a Titans RP without running into the problems we've had -- because this would not be a new version of the DC Universe, but rather an entirely new world based on ideas from DC. In that new world, no superpowers exist before the meteor shower. No Justice League, no Green Lantern Corps, no Guardians -- the story of superheroes and supervillains starts with our characters. Up until the meteor shower, this world is no different than the real world, with the exception that DC Comics has different characters in that world, presumably the Justice Guild.

But that is kind of a huge break from what we are used to, so I'll understand if you guys are uncomfortable with that.

We got history, son. Guys come in here sayin' dis shit dat you're sayin', and dey end up sleepin' wit da fish. But we got history. So I'ma do yous a favor and pretend dis never happened. But you do dis shit again, and you're out. Iced. Bottom of da river wit a pair of concrete shoes. Capisce?

You mean a pair of concrete stilettos, to be precise, right? "Cause Rarity wouldn't be wearing just any old concrete shoes. Know what I'm sayin'? hehehe ;)

I was sitting here this afternoon watching some episodes of Teen Titans, Go! (a series I usually stay away from since it's lack of seriousness and continuity irks me) and an idea occurred to me. What if we looked up the line-up for the upcoming live action Titans tv show and used them as our characters for a roleplay? We'd hve to establish what the rest of the world is like, seeing as how the show hasn't even begun filming (that I know of) let alone released any details on backstory and the like.

Well, there is some talk about Titans taking place in the Arrowverse in a cross network continuity. And if that's the case, I do not want to RP in that setting because the bad science in the shows really bug me. Plus Ollie spent six months on the island wearing the same thing yet it didn't get too dirty and his beard never grew past a fee days-worth of stubble, despite him apparently not having any razors for all that time.

Here's what I found for the line-up, though:

TNT has ordered a pilot for a live-action TV series based on the Teen Titans called Titans, about Dick Grayson emerging from Batman's shadow to become Nightwing, the leader of a band of heroes including Starfire, Raven, Oracle, Cyborg and Hawk & Dove. The pilot was written by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes.

Yeah, but if they are going with her as Oracle, I wonder if they are incorporating The Killing Joke into the continuity.

I think you -- and this roleplay -- should just...carry on as planned. How many times do you want to reboot a thread idea, concept, etc? How many times do you want to get to the part of Super Boy, and not be able to use him? You guys can do the *OTHER* 'original' thread idea......AND you can continue on in this one. Rather than crash and burn. Finish and start. Rinse and repeat. Y'know?

I just see the pattern, so I'm trying to point it out...that's all :)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe (1)Miss "tight_n_ready" is ON board with continuing, as long as people are into 'posting orders', paying mind to her passages, and the OOC is NOT littered with.....'lovely nonsense'; (2)Miss "Lily_Wight" is ON board with continuing, agreeing with the aforementioned OOC....'litter'; I'm pretty sure (3)"Sean_Renaud" will follow YOU to the Ends of the Earth and beyond, the no matter what! Let's be honest here, c'mon. Boy's allllll talk! Hehehhe *grin*; and (4)"Remec" I'm sure is game for continuing in this roleplay as well, as NO BODY puts Beast Boy in the corner---!; I don't think the player behind Aqualad has chimed in(?)...and I still think Miss "ChasNicollette" is outtie's.

But you clearly still have your core. So I'd continue this thread if I were you. Superboy it up. Nightwing it up....

.

..

....orrrrr Bart'll *NEVER* be able to 'find' his way...home!

*teeease*

;)

Yeah, I think I'm done, IC-wise.

No offense to everyone involved, I hope. I'm just enjoying the OOC chatter for now.

And I have a couple of projects that I owe Tears and Vail some work on that I've been neglecting.

I have been trying for years to get Tears back in my RPs, lol.

IF we did continue this RP with the existing continuity, I don't like the idea of a team member dying in the first mission. Chas, if we continue, can we just say Nat made it through the mission and decided to return to work for her uncle? Maybe she needs to recover from her injuries and is suffering some major emotional trauma from the Cadmus incident -- maybe that was the first time she nearly died or the thought of being a slave for Psimon terrified her and she decides she needs a break from dangerous superhero activity. That way, she's not dead, she is just no longer with the team, which leaves the possibility of her return open if you change your mind down the road.

But before I actually consider keeping this RP going, everyone who is going to stay on board needs to sound off and assure me that no one else is going to up and quit without talking to me first. I don't want to put any more effort in if we're gonna be quitting over arguments. You guys are my RP Family, and family sticks together. *hugs family*

Hey Chas, I did want to say that I'm on your side with the whole Kaldur hammer thing. There is nothing wrong with not wanting another player to take liberties with your character. I know exactly how you felt because I had similar feelings with Superboy -- I felt pressured to have a weakness for my character that I didn't want. I honestly didn't like trying to accept something for my character that I didn't agree with, and so I totally get why the hammer thing bugged you. On both fronts, we could have skipped a lot of the drama if it went like this:

Chas: Can I use red sunlight as a weakness for your character?
Me: No.
Chas: Okay.

Nubian: Can I take control of your hammer and do what I want with it for a brief period?
Chas: No.
Nubian: Okay.

I'm still in.

I will probably leave if we have more debates about the "science" of super heroes though.

Yeah, I understand in can be frustrating to others, but I can't guarantee I won't spark up another debate if I see someone doing something that I think is too farfetched. Which is one of the reasons I am reluctant to keep it going, at least under my control. Sean Renaud could take over Nightwing and Superboy and then you could all keep on playing, free from my overbearing, controlling nature :).

One of the reasons I am obsessed with making something as scientifically accurate as possible is that, without limits, there are no boundries on reality. If Flash actually moved as fast as he does in the comics, he could disable Captain Cold long before he could even push down the trigger on his ice gun. Anyone who doesn't move as fast as Flash or Superman could be knocked out in less time than it takes to blink. And since so many fucking people can time travel at will, any major death or damage could easily be rewritten time and time again. I mean Superman can move at least several times the speed of light. That is fucking ridiculous, lol.

First, duh, I'm in. Might want to swap for Ben at some point but I kinda like the idea of Ben having been established on his own prior. So basically the opposite of Star, where Star is basically waiting to be told what to do because he's basically a noob, Ben is annoyed that everybody isn't following his lead. He saved world like a dozen times, hello!

And current Superman isn't faster than light, he's slower than Flash, to the point that when they have a conversation roughly along these lines.

Flash: I'm done, I'm gone.
Superman: You know our races were always pretty close
Flash: Those were for charity. *leaves*

And Flash is only slightly faster than light though the Speed Force often does what it likes.

I don't like any character moving anywhere near the speed of light because it is just so freaking out there. Years ago, in one if my first RPs where I played Superboy, I had his running speed maxed out at 300mph and his flying speed at 900mph. If someone can fly at the speed of light, that means they can get to Mars and back to Earth in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the current positions of the two planets.

In your next 'post', "The_Jeffinator"....find a way to write that character out....so that she doesn't die....so that you are 'happy'....so that it isn't holding you back(or anything else is).

...because Miss "ChasNicollette" is outtie's, she basically *GAVE* you permission to respectfully tend to her character as you see fit.

Make sense? :)

Proposed organized priorities:

(1): Make a new OOC. Possibly private message to each player so they know of its *NEW* existence.
(2): Private message the player behind Aqualad to see if he is still playing(if you haven't heard anything thus far on the subject).
(3): Do this IC thread first, before the other one. Mainly to keep momentum. It's not so much the 'speed' that can matter in the long run -- it's the moving forward notion that helps. In your post(or one of the forthcoming ones), you can then 'take care' of Miss "ChasNicollette's" lovely character.

No sweat.

Again, I'm trying to help YOU, help THE ROLEPLAY. You want something that will go on for a long time? Well a possible way is to continue with something you started...and keep building that way. Little by little. One comic book issue by one. Yes please!

;)

Me: No.

Nubian: Can I take control of your hammer and do what I want with it for a brief period?
Chas: No.
Nubian: Okay.

But, see, if Nubian had asked me from the get-go whether he could subdue my character and brutalize the team utilizing Lucy, I might have been open to discussion, just like you were with the red sunlight.

Yes, I should have acknowledged your authority as GM and backed down sooner, saved you the headaches, just let Superboy steamroll our team and our dignity. That's on me. But if people don't get to chuck their two cents in, and feel like their ideas and contribution are respected, then you're still going to have hurt feelings.

I apologize for quitting so suddenly and leaving you in the lurch. It was something I'd wanted to do the night before and had slept on so I didn't take rash action-- but it still made sense to me in the morning. I hadn't predicted the firestorm of consequences that would result-- and while logically I'm not responsible for other people's actions, I still beat myself up pretty bad for being the catalyst for all of it.

Go ahead and bunny Natasha as you've described. Or, Hell, just keep her back at base as a repairwoman/tech guru/Oracle type-- she may decide that she needs more training and development after all (not to mention rehabilitation from her injuries) before going out again into the field.

No, you shouldn't have backed down because I'm the GM, but because Superboy was my character and I wasn't planning on playing him with the red sunlight weakness. Regardless of my role as the GM, it was my decision what weaknesses my own character had, no one else's. And considering my version of Superboy is much weaker than his comics counterpart, it shouldn't have been a big deal for me to remove that weakness since I did have a logical reason.

But it's not your fault that things blew up -- each and every one of us are responsible for our reactions. Don't let it burden you, Chas, and know I still value our talks and you as a writer. I will always consider you part of my RP Family and you have an open pass to return to this RP or join any of my others that I may do in the future. :) *hugs*

Oh, and I didn't oppose the red sunlight so Superboy could steamroll the team and their dignity, as I did suggest a Kryptonite focusing crystal early on. I wasn't opposed at all to Steel using his weakness against him, I just didn't like that particular weakness because I have always had a problem with red sunlight doing that to Kryptonians. I have hated that weakness for years, lol. To me, its bad science.
