Young Justice/Teen Titans (OOC)

Plus keep in mind, if Supes was absorbing solar energy for years and years -- from early childhood to adulthood -- he could potentially have a lot stored up. At the Earth's surface, the solar output is roughly 1004 watts per square meter. Build that up over 20 years and then use some of that energy to dip up and just out of the atmosphere, and suddenly he can absorb much more energy per second. And if he were to fly closer to the sun, he would get more and more energy built up the closer he got.

He would, however, need to use smaller amounts of oxygen in his blood more efficiently to exist without breathable air for more than a couple minutes. We would also need to assume that either his bioelectric field or flesh durability was able to protect him from the loss of atmospheric pressure.

One thing that bugs me about him, though, is that he supposedly absorbs more Vitamin D from the Sun than humans, yet he is pale. Technically, his skin should be darker than the darkest African, but I'm willing to write that off as something to do with how Kryptonian skin works with melanin.

Square meter is kind of irrelevant here, Superman has x surface area and since he's not a nudist that is somewhat limited anyway.

....heh.

...*sent a private message to "Sean_Renaud"!*

That's all I got.

I'm not trying to shame you out of RPing.

I just thought if I explained to you that your arbitrary line was hard to work with you would stop trying to impose it on people.

But again, that line is not arbitrary because I do provide explanations for why I agree with some things and not others. There is at least some science fact for the solar absorption power, but there is absolutely no science fact for the yellow/red star differences in immediate power. And is it really that hard to work with my notions of what is scientifically possible within my world and what is not? I made such a fuss over the red sunlight weakness because it specifically applied to my character -- no one else is playing a Kryptonian. Why should I feel like I am forced to pretend a non-existent weakness is present for my character just to appease everyone else? A weakness that has absolutely no scientific standing?

Other than the red sunlight weakness, I have not had that many problems with what people were doing in this RP. You make it sound like I was attacking you all for every other thing. I didn't like Chas's idea for Raven to use gravity to open black hole portals because it seemed too farfetched and didn't match the scientific understanding of black holes. So we instead hashed out some ideas and came to the conclusion that she could shift or phase her molecules similar to a transporter in Star Trek.

I didn't like that Nubian disregarded the version of Count Vertigo I had presented and took it upon himself to provide a different version of the character.

I didn't like that Nubian made Jinx a little too magic heavy for this world, but you actually beat me to the punch and called him out on it.

I didn't like that Lunar went way overboard with Timothy and Frankenstein and how magic heavy they were.

Just these few things. Other things I overlook if they are small or don't effect the story too much. Why are you guys acting like I'm a mine field and you're worried every little thing will set me off? Usually, if I have a problem with something, it's a huge scientific error or something and I point it out. I was raging in my old Marvel RP when Venom knocked over the top of a skyscraper while pretending the steel frame was non-existent -- he just knocked down a few walls and BAM -- it tilted to one side and fell off.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and you have the right to think my scientific reasoning is completely inconsistent and that I make RPing unbearable for everyone. But I also have the right to defend myself and explain my reasoning, which I believe has been justified.

And yet, that is based on existing scientific theories, not as in black holes, but using gravity to open what are essentially wormholes is entirely in line with scientific theories if in fact that kind of travel is possible. So essentially what you were disputing was a definition...

Watch the Science of Interstellar.

And Jeff... Are you staying or not? If you are staying then it's fair enough to defend your position, if not, you appear to just be cluttering up the OOC again. That goes to all of you talking, I'm not picking on Jeff individually here, but he did say he was going.

Is this RP actually happening or what?

I suggested wormholes as an alternative to traversable black holes, actually. Her original power idea gave Raven the risk of "ripping open" a black hole on Earth. But black holes are not holes and cannot be traversed; they are dense objects with a massive gravitational pull. To create a black hole on earth, it would be like taking Mount Everest and compacting it to the size of a grain of sand.

But you're right, there is no reason we need to keep having the back and forth. I'm out, so there is no reason for anyone to say anything else about my views and no reason for me to keep cluttering up the OOC. I only kept posting because others kept replying to my comments, lol.

Anyway, byez.

"The_Jeffinator" -- on your day off, recharge. And make your push, wield your excitement for that *ORIGINAL* super hero thread you've been brewing up. Gotta be honest, sounds pretty amazing! (you don't have to respond here about it by the way) ;)

"Sean_Renauad" -- Slacker. *grin*

"Tight_n_ready"/"Lily_Wight"/"Remec" -- It's up to the fella *ABOVE* now. Unless one of you want to take the mantle. I've done everything "I" can do, short of taking control myself...and "I" am not even *IN* the roleplay! Nor could I do that at this time. I could....make the new OOC thread, but it would be in name only.

In Character wise, I'm not sure who has/needs to post next. That's something you can discuss.....and/or when the GM gets to it, that can be taken care of. So you can once more progress.

But yeah, I'd imagine the next important step....is....making that new OOC thread. Sort of a "refreshing process" to help clean the slate, without...cleaning that slate if one will! ;)

*throws those two, shiny....pennies...onto the table for all to see!*

Since this OOC isn't going to be used for the RP anymore anyway, I figured I'd post here two more times -- once to tell you I'm not doing the original RP or any RP and that I am instead going to do a fanfiction series about Superboy going to train with Batman and Robin to resolve some of his anger issues -- and a second post to drop a link once I have it up if anyone wants to read it.

Instead of a clone, Conner is going to be the son of Clark Kent and Lana Lang. Lana died, and now Conner has to live with his father and step-mom, Lois Lane-Kent. He is angry at Lois for trying to act like his mom, and he is angry at Clark for leaving Lana. He also blames his father for not being there to save her. He's got a lot of pent up rage and goes to spend the summer in Gotham to get out some of his frustrations by training with Batman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Wildcat, who are all based out of Gotham in this verse. I will also do flashback chapters showing how the "Gotham Crew" came together and started their crimefighting careers.

I'll post a link once I have it up. I'd love it if you guys gave it a glance :).

Just wanted to let you guys know that I hashed out some details and got the first few pages of the fanfic written, and I'm taking everything you said into consideration about where I draw the line on what's realistic and what's not. I've changed Superman and Superboy so they can no longer charge their powers by natural sunlight alone, but use a sun chamber of Kryptonian origin to power up. I'm also having Kryptonians and Humans being branched off from a single race. Kryptonians are actually humans who were abducted thousands of years ago by the Reach and genetically altered to absorb solar energy. They eventually rebelled and took over the slave world they were on, naming it Krypton. Many generations later, they were destroyed from Kryptonite created by Darkseid and the destruction of their sun chambers. Only a handful of Kryptonians escaped the extinction, including Kal-El and Zod.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know I heard what you said and am keeping it in mind as I plot out this fanfic. It will be called "Young Justice: Superboy" and hosted on fanfiction.net.

First, I just kind of want a roll call for who's still and and they want. I'm down and happy to be in charge.

Second. Jeff , keep us posted. I feel like there is a Buffy quote in here from Faith about I'm ready to lead are you ready to follow but I think you're more the get out of the way type. And. . .damn. I call you out on your nitpicking because I find it mostly limiting and not constructive but damnit man you're my Yoda in a lot of ways. And Disney destroyed the Lukeverse because it doesn't hold together does it?

Third, I'm sorry work was kinda annoying and yes I did keep up with things that didn't require me to think.

Fourth. My ideal situation is the IC stays intact and we move forward. Anybody who wants out either dies if they are sure they want nothing to do with us or survives.

The Sins are clone monsters. The punks will be back even if we do kill em but we don't know and with Nightwing being in some sort of charge (if Jeff is around I will work with him, if not Nightwing has Batman's no kill rule but you're pretty much gonna get a stern talking too if you kill in combat. If not he's gonna lift the rule for metas simply because so many are so strong that you can't even be sure lethal means will stop them long term.) We can work from there.

As a GM I believe we are a group, we want fun and we shall have fun but I'm a guide not a god.

I'm your Yoda, eh? LOL. A Force Ghost, I have become. One with the Force, I now am. On your shoulders lies the fate of the Order. A Jedi Master, you have become. May the Force be with you, and persevere you must.

Yeah, I'm not really the follower type. That's why I never join RPs I did not create myself. I am a control freak when it comes to anything literary.

As for Nightwing, just do whatever you feel is best with him. If you want a reason to write him out without killing him, you could say the events of the Killing Joke happened in Gotham and he rushes back to be by Barbara's side, who he still loves despite her breaking his heart.

And that's fine Jeff. I don't start Rps because I'm generally reluctant to.

Glad to see you're here Tight. Anybody else. It will probably take a day or two but I'm planning an annoying large post in the IC but I kinda need to know who's here and who's not so I can make a combination of survivors and those who just didn't stay because seriously who stays with a unit with a failure rate that high.

With regrets, I think I'll stay out of it for now. I love you guys, best of luck, and I hope to write again with all of you in future.

Yeah, I'm off too...at least for now. Think I am going to go see what might catch my eye in new rps starting up, or maybe start up one myself. Sort of burnt on being Gar at the moment.

So, leave him a way out, just in case I get back in the vein, as it were, for playing a sort of odd, sophomoric, shape-changing, skirt-chasing green-skinned guy...have fun with the rest of the team.

New Blood Wanted?

Hi there YJTT players. I am just posting of my interest in participating in the thread if there remains enough interest. I am returning to the wonderful world of ths forum after a long time away, and would love to let my Titans fanboy flag fly again.

I get the sense that there have been 'goings on' as my granny would say, and understand if a new character / player at this time is undesirable... I will wait and see the responses... /hope hope/

Welcome aboard. Still waiting to see what we have. I might move the IC as well.

So far it's just you Sean, Tighty, and now Navahl. Remec and Chas have said they're out, so you're just waiting on answers from Lily and Nubian, I think.

BTW, here's part of the first chapter of the fic. I am going to add more detail to flesh this scene out some, but these are the first few paragraphs:

Nellie's Steak & Seafood
Clearwater, Florida
Friday, July 10th, 2015 13:30 EDT

Conner Kent was not your typical American teenager – but he hadn't figured that out yet. He looked normal enough, with his short black hair and baby blue eyes. Tall and muscular. Nicely tanned skin. At fifteen years old, he was nearly a man, but he still had a long way to go. Many obstacles stood on the path he would take, the truths of his heritage awaiting him. But first, he had to finish the dishes.

“Geez, Nell, you keep piling them up faster than I can scrub them!” Conner complained to his Great Aunt Nellie, who owned a steak and seafood restaurant a few minutes from the beach. He didn't particularly enjoy what he considered a “shit job,” wearing a stained apron and covered head-to-toe in sweat. Nell was family, though, and his mother wanted him to learn to be more responsible.

“Boy, don't you get an attitude with me!” Nell snapped, her salt and pepper hair pulled into a bun. She was short and chubby with light brown skin and wearing a white chef's uniform. “If you washed those dishes faster, they wouldn't pile up so much! The lunch rush is almost over, so suck it up!”

“What's going on back here?” asked Conner's mother as she came around the corner. She was fairly young for having a teenage son – early thirties – and had her dark brown hair in a long ponytail. Her skin was a light olive and she was wearing a nice skirt and blouse with the company logo on one side of her chest and a name badge on the other that showed her position as Customer Service Manager.

“Lana, you need to light a fire under that boy's ass!” Nell exclaimed. “So slow! So lazy! Gah!” She waved her hands above her head in frustration and went to the other side of the kitchen to check on the cooks.

“Come on, Conner,” Lana said as she walked over and rubbed her sons shoulders. “You need to take this job seriously. Just because your family owns the restaurant is not an excuse to slack off. This is a good learning experience for you.”

“I know, Mom. I know. It's just...”

“You miss your dad.”

“Yeah,” he replied. “Summer is supposed to be my time to go visit him, but he's too busy with his new wife. He doesn't have time for me anymore.”

“You know that's not true,” Lana said as she rolled her eyes at him. “Your father loves you very much, but Lois's mother is very sick and he needs to be with her in her time of need.”

“But now I won't be able to see him until Christmas,” said Conner with a sigh. “I've been looking forward to this summer all year.”

“Well sometimes things just happen. Lois didn't ask for her mother to get sick. I'm sure she's in a lot of emotional pain right now.”

“I don't care,” he said as he crossed his arms. “I don't know what Dad sees in her anyway – she's such a bitch. I wish he would have stayed with you.”

“Sometimes people grow apart, honey,” Lana replied, brushing her son's hair out of his eyes. “And don't let me catch you calling Lois a bitch again, okay? Now get your butt back to work, kiddo.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Conner begrudgingly resumed scrubbing the dishes, growing irritated very quickly at the sweat that kept running into his eyes. He pushed forward, though, and breathed a sigh of relief when he finally had them all done. Then suddenly, one of the busboys brought in three tubs of freshly dirty dishes stacked up. “God damn it!”

Gah. It's killing me not RPing. Part of me wants to create a new thread where there is no focus on science... like a fantasy set in a far off land or something. Like something you'd see in a Final Fantasy game or a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Could be a sword and sorcery type setting or a magi-tech semi-futuristic world. Could be a magic school setting or a military academy or something. I dunno. Would any of you even write with me again if we did an RP where science won't be a problem?

You might have trouble with the others, I'd RP with you in another even if Science is a problem.
