Law Enforcement ‘Strategically Deflated’ Tires During Minneapolis Protests

Law enforcement in Minneapolis on Monday acknowledged deliberately slashing the tires of parked cars in late May, as protests over the police killing of George Floyd threw the city into turmoil.

The admission came a couple days after Mother Jones flagged video footage of authorities slashing several cars’ tires, including those belonging to journalists and others who just happened to park in the wrong spot at the wrong time — in this case, a Kmart parking lot and another location.

“State Patrol troopers strategically deflated tires … in order to stop behaviors such as vehicles driving dangerously and at high speeds in and around protesters and law enforcement,” Bruce Gordon, a spokesperson for Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety, admitted to the Star Tribune.

Troopers also slashed tires of vehicles “that contained items used to cause harm during violent protests,” Gordon said.

“While not a typical tactic, vehicles were being used as dangerous weapons and inhibited our ability to clear areas and keep areas safe where violent protests were occurring,” he added.

Minneapolis City Council Pledges To Disband Police Dept Amid Harsh Crackdowns On Protests

The city council of Minneapolis, Minnesota pledged by a veto-proof majority on Sunday to dissolve the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) as officers deploy teargas and rubber bullets to forcibly remove peaceful protesters from public spaces.

“Decades of police reform efforts have proved that the Minneapolis Police Department cannot be reformed, ad will never be accountable for its action,” the council said in a statement.

The city will “begin the process of ending the Minneapolis Police Department and creating a new transformative model for cultivating safety in our city,” according to the council.

The decision comes as MPD officers use heavy-handed tactics, such as teargas and rubber bullets, to disperse peaceful protests against police brutality that have arisen after the killing of George Floyd at the hands of white officer Derek Chauvin, who kneeled on Floyd’s neck for almost 10 minutes.

In one viral video, MPD officers are seen walking through a neighborhood and firing paint canisters at residents:

The Mayor is opposed to defunding the police but the City Council is adamant that they have to be reformed, as in rebuilt from the top down! Also the DA's office has to have the balls to charge the Popo for crimes they commit!

'Defund Police' Means Fix Community Problems, Not 'Let The Joker Run Gotham'

Minneapolis's City Council made some huge news yesterday when the majority of council members signed on to a pledge to "begin the process of ending the Minneapolis Police Department." The agreement wasn't quite as formal as passing a new city law, but it's the first step in what could become a serious transformation of city services and public safety. And no, it doesn't mean that some morning next week the city will wake up with no cops to protect them from evildoers, despite how Donald Trump and the usual rightwing liars enjoy depicting it. The council members said in a written statement,

We recognize that we don't have all the answers about what a police-free future looks like, but our community does. We're committed to engaging with every willing community member in the City of Minneapolis over the next year to identify what safety looks like for you.

Even police have complained that, over the past few decades, they've been asked to deal with a lot of stuff that has little to do with law enforcement. Great — let's shift police budgets for social problems to social services. Funny, police may resent having to deal with stuff they consider not-crimefighting, but darned if they like the idea of department money going to agencies that CAN address that stuff, by investing in education, housing, jobs, community health, drug courts (or just plain on-demand treatment), gang-intervention programs, and the like.

In the name of "protecting us," police budgets keep expanding, even as crime continues a decades-long decline. For instance, in Los Angeles, where Mayor Eric Garcetti announced last week he would freeze the police budget at current levels instead of increasing it, the law enforcement budget accounts for half the city's spending. Alex Vitale, author of The End Of Policing, the go-to book on defunding police, likes to point out that New York City's police budget, the nation's largest at $6 billion a year, is "larger than the GDP of 50 countries around the world."

Maybe if they took ONLY a Billion Dollars and put it into Social Services it might make a difference? Y'a think? :D

Getting rid of the police is bad news for the gangsters of the DNC and the Soros Black Shirts. They hide behind thee very laws they break, but now without police, we don't need judges or lawyers (Shakespeare had a saying about those people) or politicians. Remember it is the Democratic states and cities with the worst police departments according to the organizers of the "demonstrations" so those Democrats should be dragged out and forced to resign.

No more death camp cities like Chicago and Baltimore run by the black puppets of the racists Democratic Party. And citizens and ex cops no longer have to fear the law in taking care of looters and criminals like the Nazi/Commie Black Shirts and Soros. Looters can be shot and Black Shirts can be hung for their crimes. And politicians like the Clinton's, Bidden's, Nancy P., Soros, and Obama with their billions of dollars that they never share with the people can be forced to turn over that loot to the people.

Yes doing away with the police (especially the dirty cops in the FBI) will rid the country of low life trash that are bused from city to city (to make it look like there are many more than they really are) and get their heads knocked. And the fake "blacks" that have sold out their race to the Slave Party for a few bucks will also have to answer.

You saw how the Black Shirts and the gangs ran when the President said he would call out the military on them, think how fast they will run when they know the people can protect themselves and destroy anyone who is part of the mobs. The corrupt Democrats who have tried to take away all our freedoms will also be hiding in Bidden's basement.

Federal court denies immunity to cops who shot a man over 20 times — and cites George Floyd

On Tuesday, BuzzFeed News reported that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit has denied extending qualified immunity to five West Virginia police officers who shot a man 22 times as he lay still on the ground.

“Judge Henry Floyd of the US Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit wrote on behalf of a unanimous three-judge panel that to dismiss the case against officers who shot and killed Wayne Jones in 2013 ‘would signal absolute immunity for fear-based use of deadly force, which we cannot accept,'” reported Zoe Tillman. “Floyd noted that Jones was killed a year before protests erupted nationwide after Michael Brown, a Black man, was killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri.”

“Although we recognize that our police officers are often asked to make split-second decisions, we expect them to do so with respect for the dignity and worth of black lives. Before the ink dried on this opinion, the FBI opened an investigation into yet another death of a black man at the hands of police, this time George Floyd in Minneapolis,” wrote the judge. “This has to stop.”

Colin Kaepernick Wins Amnesty International's Highest Honor

Colin Kaepernick may not have a job on the football field, but much of the world is still cheering for him.

Amnesty International, the global human rights organization, gave Kaepernick its highest honor — the 2018 Ambassador of Conscience Award — in Amsterdam on Saturday. Past winners of the award, which “celebrates individuals and groups who speak out for justice,” include former South Africa president Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, the education activist from Pakistan who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban, and rock group U2.

The organization recognized Kaepernick for his protest against police violence: his action, kneeling during the national anthem before NFL games, sparked a movement replicated across America and the world, starting a debate about free speech and patriotism that was inflamed by the President of the United States, one of Kaepernick’s most relentless critics.

“When high-profile people choose to take a stand for human rights, it emboldens others,” says Augusta Quiney, Amnesty International’s director of Art for Amnesty, a program that works with artists and entertainers on human rights activism. “For us, this is an opportunity to be on the right side of history.”

Kaepernick has received several honors for his stance. In November Sports Illustrated named Kaepernick winner of the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, and in December, the ACLU gave him the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award. Now, with Amnesty International, a global group has recognized Kaepernick.

Armed, black business owner mistaken for robber, punched by white Alabama cop

June 9, 2020

A black business owner armed with a gun was mistaken for a robbery suspect
when a police officer punched him in the face, Decatur police Chief Nate Allen
said today.

The situation happened nearly three months ago on March 15 but has become public
now because of a surveillance video clip released on social media over the weekend.
The video shows a police officer walk into Star Spirits & Beverages, a liquor store
on Sixth Avenue in Decatur in north Alabama, and immediately punch the owner,
47-year-old Kevin Penn.

Penn's lawyer, Carl Cole says Penn called police that day to report his store had
been robbed and that he was holding the suspect at gunpoint.

Cole said Penn showed the gun to the officers to make sure they knew he was armed
then took out the clip and ejected the bullet from the chamber.

As a result of the punch, Penn suffered a broken jaw and some of his teeth were
knocked out, his lawyer, Carl Cole, told AL.com.

“My grandpa was just beat on the bus because he’s Korean [because] they didn’t want ‘the Chinese virus’ Trump started calling it the Chinese virus and everyone started going after Asians,” she wrote. “Until you’re beaten because of your skin color you don’t have a say.”

Korean Lives Matter, too. :eek::eek:

Florida Union Pres Wanted To Recruit Wayward Cops, But The Sheriff Said 'No Thank You'

This weekend, the Florida Fraternal Order of Police announced a plan to recruit terrible, racist, violent cops from across the country to serve in the Brevard County Police department. All of the cops who were tired of being told they can't beat up old Catholic Worker guys or pull college students out of cars and shock them with tasers for no reason, he said, would be welcome there and the city would have their backs if and when they felt the need to assault a citizen for funsies, adding the hashtag #movetowhereyouare♥️. AW.

Plus, lower taxes! And the space program! Ok, he didn't say anything about the space program, but it's where Cape Canaveral is.

On the bright side of things, it turns out that ol' Bert Gamin does not actually have the ability to recruit all of the bad cops in the land to come beat the shit out of innocent people in Brevard County. That distinction belongs Sheriff Wayne Ivey, and he would like to be very clear that the Brevard County police department will not be an asylum for wayward cops.

Via Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

"To be clear, the 'Brevard County F.O.P.' page and organization has no official affiliation with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and was not authorized in any capacity by me or our agency to recruit or comment on our behalf!!," Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on his own social media page. "The comments made by their members do not in any way represent the views of our agency and were made as individuals who were not acting in the capacity of a Law Enforcement Officer!!"

Listen to the ‘calls ringing out in the streets across the world,’ says George Floyd’s brother in emotional testimony before Congress

Philonise Floyd, the younger brother of George Floyd, implored Congress in emotional testimony Wednesday to heed “the calls ringing out in the streets across the world” and take meaningful action against police brutality and racial injustice in the United States.

“If his death ends up changing the world for the better, and I think it will, then he died as he lived. It is on you to make sure his death is not in vain.” —Philonise Floyd

“George called for help and he was ignored,” Philonise said during a House Judiciary Committee hearing. “Please listen to the calls I’m making to you now. To the calls of our family… People of all backgrounds, genders and races have come together to demand change. Honor them, honor George, and make the necessary changes that make law enforcement the solution—and not the problem.”

WATCH: Neighbors stunned as cop takes down Black Amazon driver for parking the wrong way

A neighborhood in Warren, Michigan expressed shock this week when local police took down a black Amazon driver for merely parking the wrong way on their street.

Fox 2 Detroit reports that witnesses say the Amazon driver was tackled by a police officer shortly after delivering a package to local resident Diana Gouim.

Gouim’s neighbor, Geri Cheatham, tells Fox 2 Detroit that she didn’t understand why the police officer tackled the driver and why he then called for backup.

“It was ridiculous for one little kid that was the size of me,” she tells the station.

Aggressive Cop had to find someone to take down to show his peers he was a tough law keeper! So he picked a small one?

George Floyd and Derek Chauvin ‘bumped heads’ while working security at same nightclub over ex-cop’s ‘aggressive’ behavior: Co-worker

George Floyd and the police officer who killed him not only worked together — they knew and apparently disliked each other.

The 46-year-old Floyd and fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin worked security at the same nightclub, and a former co-worker told CBS News the two had “bumped heads.”

“It has a lot to do with Derek being extremely aggressive within the club with some of the patrons, which was an issue,” said former colleague David Pinney.

More than a dozen Minneapolis police officers who say they represent hundred of others condemn the former officer charged with killing George Floyd. And they express support for policing reforms in an open letter released Thursday that is addressed to "Dear Everyone - but especially Minneapolis citizens."

"We wholeheartedly condemn Derek Chauvin," the letter states at the outset, and it goes on to denounce the now-fired officer's actions.

"Like us, Derek Chauvin took an oath to hold the sanctity of life most precious," the officers write, adding, "Derek Chauvin failed as a human and stripped George Floyd of his dignity and life. This is not who we are."

The letter is signed by 14 officers but it says it expresses "what the vast majority of Minneapolis police officers feel at this moment."

"We are leaders, formal and informal, and from all ranks within the Minneapolis Police Department. We're not the union of the administration," the letter continues, adding that they represent the voices of hundreds of other officers.

"We stand ready to listen and embrace the calls for change, reform and rebuilding," the officers tell the people of Minneapolis. "We are with you moving forward. We want to work with you and for you to regain your trust."

The 14 officers who signed the letter include former Minneapolis police union president John Delmonico. Several of the others are prominent detectives.

WATCH: Body cam footage shows cops taunting and refusing to help man as he drowned in a creek

The family of a 24-year-old Tennessee man who drowned as police looked on are calling for justice after body cam video of the incident was released to the public, the New York Post reports.

Johnny “JJ” Baldwin, 24, fell into a creek as he was trying to flee police on foot after being pulled over for a minor traffic violation. As Baldwin cried out for help, cops can be heard calling him a “dumb a**” and taunting him while failing to provide help.

“Well then, swim,” one officer says in response to Baldwin’s pleas. “Your dumb a** jumped in the river.”

When one officer finally offered to help, another officer stopped him. When one officer pointed out that Baldwin was submerged, another officer was dismissive, saying that he was “doing it on purpose.”

Atlanta’s police chief is out — and the mayor is demanding the ‘immediate termination’ of cop who killed Rayshard Brooks

The mayor of Atlanta announced on Saturday that the chief of police is stepping down.

“Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Saturday that police Chief Erika Shields is stepping aside and the city will launch a search for her replacement,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Saturday. “Bottoms said Shields offered her resignation, which the mayor accepted.”

The mayor also called for the immediate firing of the officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks.

“I do not believe this was a justified use of deadly force and have called for the immediate termination of the officer,” the mayor said.

Calls mount for ‘radical changes in policy and policing’ and arrest of the fired Atlanta cop who killed Rayshard Brooks

Local activists and an attorney for the family of Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old black man shot and killed by an Atlanta police officer Friday night, are calling for the officer to be arrested and charged along with demanding “radical” reforms to policing in Georgia’s capital city.

“Changes in personnel at the Atlanta Police Department are welcome, but it’s not enough,” said CAIR-Georgia executive director Abdullah Jaber. “We now need to see immediate and radical changes in policy and policing to end the systemic oppression and anti-black racism rooted in the Atlanta Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.”

“Too many investigations of police shootings, particularly those involving black men and women, disappear into a black hole for months or years without resolution,” Khwaja said Saturday. “The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office needs to act now by arresting and charging the officer who killed Rayshard Brooks.”

“We are done dying,” the Georgia NAACP added. “It’s going to take real effort on the part of every elected official in the Georgia General Assembly to do their part to protect every single Georgian and ensure that this becomes a state that such a disheartening reality is of no more.”

Protest call for Monday in front of the General Assembly!

Gun-toting Trump supporters attack George Floyd protesters in rural Ohio town

A small-town solidarity rally with Black Lives Matter ended in chaos after some of President Donald Trump’s supporters showed up with guns to berate demonstrators.

Alicia Gee, a 36-year-old substitute teacher, was inspired by demonstrations in Hazard, Kentucky, to hold a protest in her hometown of Bethel, Ohio, to show support for equal rights, reported the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Police stood by as the protesters interfered with the demonstration, which ended up drawing up to 800 people, and demonstrators felt threatened by the armed group.

“I knew there were counter-protests but I never dreamed that grown men would grab our signs and our person. It felt like we were walking a gauntlet,” said 63-year-old Lois Dennis. “I saw a side of America that shamed me.”

The police stood aside and let battery and assault flourish by anti-antifa forces of darkness? Bad Popo, bad!

Atlanta Mayor Actually Holds Police Accountable For Killing Man In Wendy’s Parking Lot

Rayshard Brooks had fallen asleep in the drive-through lane of an Atlanta Wendy's late Friday night. The police were called in and not long afterward, Brooks was dead. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, police gave Brooks a field sobriety test, which he failed. The GBI said Brooks resisted arrest, struggled with officers, and tried to flee the scene. He somehow got hold of an officer's stun gun. The Wendy's surveillance footage showed Brooks running away from the parked police cars, and he appears to point the stun gun at an officer.

From CNN:

"At that point the Atlanta officer reaches down and retrieves his weapon from his holster, discharges it, strikes Mr. Brooks there on the parking lot and he goes down," [GBI Director Vic Reynolds] said in a press conference on Saturday.

This is not an unusual chain of events, unfortunately, but what happened afterward is almost shocking. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms didn't just call this a tragic incident or send the cops involved a bottle of wine, like former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani might've done. No, Bottoms immediately criticized the officer.

Full video of the incident. Judge for yourself.

Trump-loving security guard guns down Black man in Tulsa hotel parking lot ahead of president’s rally

A Trump-loving white security guard with a racist past shot and killed an unarmed Black man during an unprovoked hotel parking lot attack.

Former Tulsa detention officer Christopher Straight has been charged with first-degree manslaughter after he provoked and then fatally shot Carlos Carson earlier this month, and newly released surveillance video shows the 36-year-old Black man had his back turned when the attack began, reported The Guardian.

Carson then confronted Straight and the two men struggled as Carson tried to pull him from his vehicle.

A few seconds later, Straight shot Carson in the head, killing him.

Tomorrow in Tulsa should be a riot! :):)

Minority guards were all reassigned so that Officer Chauvin could have only white guards in jail.

https://m.startribune.com/minority-officers-kept-from-monitoring-chauvin-in-jail/571391442/

Eight minority Ramsey County corrections officers have filed discrimination charges with the state’s Department of Human Rights after they were barred from guarding or having any other contact with former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin last month.

Chauvin was booked at the county jail the same day he was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.

As Chauvin arrived, all officers of color were ordered to a separate floor, and a supervisor told one of them that, because of their race, they would be a potential “liability” around Chauvin, according a copy of racial discrimination charges obtained by the Star Tribune.

“I understood that the decision to segregate us had been made because we could not be trusted to carry out our work responsibilities professionally around the high-profile inmate — solely because of the color of our skin,” wrote one acting sergeant, who is black. “I am not aware of a similar situation where white officers were segregated from an inmate.”

Columbus police accused of pepper-spraying double amputee and ‘stealing’ his prosthetic legs

Police in Columbus, Ohio were accused on Sunday of stealing two prosthetic legs from a double amputee after he was pepper sprayed at a protest.

Video of the incident was posted on Reddit. It shows a man without legs laying on the pavement while protesters call for a medic.

Today in Columbus my husband was downtown at the protests & saw the cops hit & mace an unarmed kid and then STEAL HIS PROSTHETIC LEGS.

For everyone asking: the protesters begged the cops for the legs back, cops refused. Then a group rushed the cops (getting maced) and were able to grab the legs back & get them back to the kid.
