I think it's from the early settlement days that Ohio gets lumped in like that. It's agricultural in a way that Pennsylvania is definitely not, and culturally it has a lot in common with Indiana and Illinois.I've never understood how Ohio gets lumped in to the Midwest. I'm from literally the heart where Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska meet. THATS Midwest. I'm sure there's a perfectly logical reason why I'm wrong as usual but it is bizarre. Kentucky is a weird state too in that some identity as Midwest, so make up this odd Ohio valley or kentuckiana monikers which actually makes some sort of sense....but then you get those that identify distinctly as southern lolol only the south doesn't claim them.
