2008 News & Views: Discussion and Announcements for the Survivorphile

I've had the same issue with the cord for my Dell. Very frustrating. And they are not cheap to replace. I found a website online to purchase from rather than from the local stores around here. I feel for you.:(
I'm buying a new laptop at the end of the month. Are Dell's any good?

I have a Toshiba and I've really liked it. I just need something with more memory. This one is finally starting to give me problems, like losing pages that I've written.

I have a Dell desktop that's survived a year in a dust ridden old shack without a murmur.

My laptop is a Compaq and it's been great so far. Had it for not quite a year.

OH has an HP and one of the keys broke (the ~ key) off the keyboard - he's only had it a few months. They replaced the entire keyboard without question.

I had a compaq that lasted me a year, it was my first laptop. I loved that thing. But I'm tired of losing pages after I spend an hour or so working. And buying mouses. I'm on my fifth mouse on this one.

Kitten from Kitty? Hmmmm.....

DELL, Toshiba and Lenovo are probably the best choices. I don't like Compaq or HP. Just my 2 cents. I've had or used them all, including IBM, Canon, and no-brand systems. Check ebay, but don't let the bidding sweep you away.

Losing pages from your docs probably is NOT a lack of RAM problem. Do you know if your system is at the max RAM?

Wordperfect lets you save 'versions' of your doc, I think there's a macro for WORD that mimics that. Another interesting choice is a program called FileHamster. UNfortunately it needs .NET installed - another MS pig.
The hamster lets you choose in advance what files, or folders, you want to backup EVERY time you save them. It has saved me twice. Oh, and it's FREE.

Then there's always the good habit of SAVING your doc every few minutes.

WP also has an AUTOSAVE feature so you don't have to remember it.

If you think you are having memory problems, go get MemTest86+. It's one of the best tests and it's free too.

I have word 03 on this one. And normally it does save my work. Something strange happened, those nasty little laptop fairies took off with my pages. But it's okay because the second try at writing this chapter is better I think.

I love my Dell... well, except for the issue with the cord. If you get agood warranty, the cord is covered. I haven't had to pay for the replacements.

I loved my Toshiba, except I had some problems with it. Then, the motherboard went and it was cheaper to buy a new laptop than get it repaired.

Lady, here's a tip that will cure your cord problem or at least greatly extend their lives: use electrical tape to tightly wrap the part that bends sharply, usually at the laptop end. If the power connector isn't too big, or if the other end unplugs, you can get some 'shrink wrap' and slide it over the tape if you used it. Use any heat source to warm and shrink it.

Thanks for the tip, but bending of the cord is not the issue. The original cord and first repacement both had spaces near the ends where you could actually see the silver wires. Over time, these got worse and became problematic.

Seen those too. They come with a head start for breaking. Best thing for them is to put multi wraps of tape from the connector down at least an inch. You could leave it like that, but it's neater looking and lasts longer if you use the shrink wrap. Be sure to cover most of the connector with it. Or just keep the warranty up.

Still waiting to get the bacon and chocolate together....

You really can't use tape or shrinkwrap since the breakage occurs under the black, rubber bands at the ends of the cord. See my lil' arrow?

My arrow looks a little suggestive. Oh, well. It seems fitting enough.

I just read a great little story. Short and bittersweet. Lost love and all that.

It's in non-erotic and it's called Aileen.

Sadly, the author has turned off voting.
And he deleted my first comment.

But he has left the second one up.

He said yesterday seeing a comment from me made his skin crawl, so I'm assuming he just hasn't seen this one yet.

Hs come and Hs go, doesn't overly worry me. I don't think scores matter to overall readership unless they are high enough to put you on the front page of the toplists, and none of mine are that good.

That doesn't make a lot of sense. Personally, I welcome reasonable comments from anyone, especially from fellow authors. :D I also dislke comments that are just silly or nasty.

ETA: Scores only matter when a story is entered in a contest or if it is in the competition for the top ranked story of the month. Outside of that, they don't matter all that much. I like to be appreciated - who doesn't - and if I have a high score, it means most readers like the story. A one-bomb from some dumb troll doesn't change that.

Allow me to clarify it for you, George, so that you understand why I delete the comments from Princess Erin and why comments from Starrkers make my skin crawl.

First they 1 bomb my story. I know this because they are the first two bashers who vote for my stories.

Then, they write a comment, usually a bashing one, sometimes a good one and give me a score of 3-5, which, of course, doesn't count because they've already voted their 1 bomb on my story previously.

Now, I don't think that you'd keep those comments, either.

I don't read their stories. I don't vote on their stories. Yet, they blame me for down voting their stories and for the loss of their red H's.

I warned them that I have friends here who don't like how they are treating me. Perhaps, one of them down voted their stories. I don't know, maybe, their stories just suck and some reader down voted them. I don't know and I don't care. All that I know is that they have both unfairly targeted me and singled me out.

Now, we have had our differences, George, but we have never bashed one another's stories. That's the difference between normal people and insane people. We possess the ability to respect one another, even if we don't like one another.

These two ladies, and I use that term loosely, think that all of this cyber stuff is real. They have no life.

Starrkers follows me around whenever and wherever I post, even when my post has absolutely nothing to do with her. PrincessErin continues to send me mentally disturbing PM's.

I just want them to leave me alone. I'm just like, as you are, George, to write stories.

Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns on this matter and I hope that I've clarified the issue for you to understand why I delete PrincessErin's posts and why Starrkers posts make my skin crawl.

Crazy people don't see themselves as crazy, ergo, the reason why they wouldn't understand why I delete their posts.

Get help ladies. Stay away from sharp objects.

Methinks he doth protest over much.

Hey Starkie, I like your new 'bird' AV much better than the feathery one. ;)
But how did you get lady to pose for you like that? :cattail: The way her boobs spill over the top and sides is very enticing. :p Well done!

That's me. Hubby took the pic.

Sorry, kitty. These 44DD's are not fitting into that corset! LOL

Okay, why aren't my IMG tags with photobucket links working any more?

My 36Es did, but only just. That's why they're spilling over just a tad ;)

Dunno about image tags on this forum. I have the same trouble. But only here, not on the AH etc.

Very sexy for a guy! Maybe I am gay and didn't know it? :cattail:

oops, shuda ckd ur profile 1st. I just ASSumed you were a HE.

STILL looks hot, and YEAAAH, I'm not gay.

'E' cups? I read a news story about a year ago that some researcher (Sweden?) has concluded that it takes 98 measurements to get the right cup size. The two used now are usually wildly off, but I couldn't come with more than 22.

He nicely came up with some useful names for the varied shapes too. I sent the article to a friend in CA who loved to say 'You seen one, you seen them all.'
She really believed that despite looking at many with me. Even my then gf who was a middle 33A with tall and firm nips/medium aureoles, while the friend was a 36D, puffy & pale aureoles, moderate/average nips. Their boob shapes also were very different. But her mind was made up!

I can't verify your DD, Lady, from that little photo. Feel free to send me something clearer to vette. :D

Vive la differance!

There you go flirting again. Oh my Lit!
I guess I won't tell you when an illustrated story of mine comes out with pictures of me in some sexy bras :)

Erin

Well, kitty probably already knows that ain't happening unless they are drawings and not photographs. Literotica is very picky about accepting photographs as illustrations.

Did we already have this conversation?
I'm too tired to care.
