Hey! Roses are red.
Some poets do rue.
They are franticèd.
I love you, Ms. Crewe.

Hey. Just wing it, baby. I've done that more than once. It's kind of fun.

Do not be afraid to write bad poems! Yours won't be bad anyway.

Yeah, well. You're on the clock, as you said. :)

I'm always winging it but I usually have more wiggle room. I should have just snarfed your poem to me and saved myself the pressure. ;)

"Sonnet" in Which I Rail at Fate
and at Ms. Crewe, Who Got Me into This,
Finely Crafted in Onegin Stanza Form

Here writ in form Eugene Onegin
my daily poem for today:
for inspiration I am begging
to crib off Pushkin once. OK?
His metrics are a spot of bother.
His rhyme is feminine and other.
And with this line, I'm halfway through
this twisty verse form, Sara Crewe!
Still, I should say something insightful
in this day's poem, anyway.
But poets sometimes merely play
with imitations simply frightful.
And now I'm done. It has been hell.
Tomorrow, perhaps, I'll write well.

I knew I was going to end up with my picture on some metaphoric dart board before the end of this.

"civet and jasmine".

I'm going to guess either White Linen or Rochas Femme (the original of 1944).

Excellent guess. But I blend my own. Amber and jasmine's a fine combination as well.

Civet and jasmine are both favourites of mine. There is only one men's cologne that contains both and that is Furyo by Bogart. Do you use real civet or artificial? Personally I'm a fan of the authentic stuff.

And let's not forget leather. (Well, who could?)

While real civet makes the top of my head come off, I just can't feel good about sticking a spoon up a cat's ass to get it, cause I don't think I'd like to have a spoon stuck up my ass either. So I hafta go for the artificial.

Sad, really. A lot of synthetics are pretty good these days, but two of my favorites - ambergris and civet - have yet to catch up, and I can't get either one in good conscience.

Leather. mmmm. Whoops. Are we still talking about scent?

Well, I wasn't thinking about collecting it myself…

Still, enough of this off-topic chit chat.

That is not dart board. That is shrine.

There is a difference, mum. :rose:

Shining with civet and jasmine, I ride
Velvet-draped altars, all opium-eyed.

With the exception of " velvet" I really Love this
paints a wonderful picture and creates a very specific mood
Nice writing.

Recognize me and I'll recognize you.

Well now you've gone and given the whole game away
:p

Nice stuff

Hey, I'm just thrilled to be given equal billing with Fate. She's done some powerful work.

Yeah, I wondered if velvet was kinda cliche, and there are some things about the meter and rhyme that need some serious hammering. But this one may actually be worth working on. Thanks for the input.

I drown myself in dreams of incantation
sung in a pillowed howl of ecstasy

Lovely. That phrase is sticking in my head "a pillowed howl of ecstasy." Hot.

I'm really enjoying the 30/30. Doing it is a pain in the ass... letting go of writing before I can take the time to "fix" it up to a point I like it enough to let other people read it... is hard. Reading everyone else is making me very happy. Thanks for sharing it all.
I first read that as "pilloried howl of ecstasy" and thought Bijou was gettin' all kinky on us.

Damn bifocals.

Well I actually am, but you have to wait two more days for the STC to open. Today's is pretty damn kinky, though.

And I can arrange a pilloried howl as well if you like.

30.

The Dawn of Darkness

On this day of all days
I should stride into the ocean
let it wash up my body
in a final cleansing,
a last white washing
that will see all my sins
seep back into the sea,
fall between the cracks
and soak deep into the earth's core
where my birthing began.

On this day of all days
I should say goodbye
to the mists that threaten
to conceal my existence,
that warp my outstretched arms
ignoring my light, my warmth
my dedication to day.
Would I be missed,
or would you welcome
the extra hours of dark?

Wow — now this is finishing the 30/30 with a bang! :rose: :rose: :rose:

Great poem and a great run!

So how does it feel to be free of this monster? Do you think you'll miss the weight of obligation every day?

Well done again! :rose:
