What the hell is going on with the spam reports? Dozens of identical posts with offsite links have been up for a week and nothing has been done.

Moderators don’t get reports. They go to the site admins. If you see spam you’re welcome to send me links to the posts so I can remove it.

Reports have been made for various reasons in the PG for weeks.

That’s great. If you mean ‘report’ as in send a message the the mod, the moderator can take care of it. If you mean ‘report’ as in ‘click the report button’, the mods don’t see those reports. I can’t explain why the site admins would pay more attention to reports using the report button in one forum over another.

If there are issues in threads in the PG, by all means please send them to me so I can address it. I don’t know otherwise.

Well maybe if you paid more attention to what goes in the the PG's threads and showed up more often that what you do, you would see some of the issues yourself. That's what a good moderator does anyway.

Are you saying you will be here more, or, if you aren’t, you’ll take someone on that wants to moderate us assholes?
Or are you just being glib?

We need the mods.

Of course the site needs mods. There’s a ton of opinions about what the ‘right’ level of moderation is. In years past when I’ve been more visible- posting and engaging in threads and actively moderating more frequently- there’s been huge pushback about being too heavy handed. When I am less visible and respond to PMs as they come, and don’t post as often, I’m ‘not a good moderator’ either. I appreciate you both sharing your thoughts about what you’d like to see. The reality is, this is a volunteer position on a free site. I’m sure Laurel would welcome another PG mod. It is, and I cannot stress this enough, a thankless job.

We got a doink on the GB that comes in and drops the same post literally hundreds of times in an hour, then disappears for a few days. On about his 15th ID so far. KittyMama gets to him eventually.

For How To and BDSM, I absolutely do get the reports sent to me via email. I wish they would come via PM, but they come to my email inbox.

Oh… you know what, that explains a lot. The email I used for this account is long since defunct, and was way before I became a mod. I’ll connect with laurel and see if it’s possible to update it so I get the reports.

Yeah, I’m sure she can update that for you. I am pretty active in the BDSM forums, so I see a lot of stuff that needs intervention. But occasionally I’ll check that email and have several (or even a dozen or more) reports at that all came in at around the same time and I know I need to get my ass to the forum as something is up.
