I echo that sentiment whole heartedly. You have to mix things up once in a while, lest you find yourself slipping down towards stagnation. That's not to say that each time need necessarily be more " extreme ", but variety certainly is a necessary ingredient for longevity.

As for unloaded weapons, that has always been a tricky situation. The illusion of danger is a tough sell when it comes to someone you love, not the same thing as delivering pain/humiliation/etc. Specifically if both involved aren't on the same page. Even with those of a certain personality type, it's difficult to put on the persona ( even though it's just a show ) of someone who could do them harm, and make them believe it. The safety discussion also makes for a catch-22. It needs to be had, but at the same time, tends to crush the scenario's overall feeing even further. But it can be pulled off, just takes some ingenuity and planning. And if not the first time, try try again.

Knives and blood... Yeah. This isn't a blog, and I have to drive, otherwise I'd be here all night :D
