Collars

So, here's a collaring question: For those who believe in a serious, formal relationship significance for the collar, when do you think collaring is appropriate? Is it something you consider more as a signifier of goals met and growth achieved? Or more a commitment to grow together and work toward those goals?

This isn't a collar per se, but I thought it was so pretty. It also cracks me up that I found it on the J. Peterman website. I haven't been able to look at that catalog with a straight face since Seinfeld.

I like that one too, particularly pretty for a formal evening out...you know a black dress and tie affair...

I'm curious about collars and how you use them and why. What do they mean to you, when do you give/receive one, and what do they look like?

Feel free to post lots of pics. I'm very curious to hear what you all think.

Mine is in my avatar :) Symbolizes my being owned that I am completely his. :)

Finally found a pic of the collar I made for my first slave. When we added a second and became a poly family, I made a duplicate. The silver mesh bows up when the collar is laid out flat, and pulls flush against the leather when the collar is worn around the neck.

Since that time I have always handmade at least one collar for the girl who is mine. Other than those first two, each has been unique.

VERY lovely :) :rose:

When you're serious about being together. Yes, definitely goals achieved and reward earned. But also a show of commitment, much like a wedding ring, engagement ring or other term of endearment.

I intend on giving a training collar when I find a slave worthy of one. It will tide him over until I can fasten a permanent one.
It is a sign of his commitment as slave and My ownership.
The training collar can be worn each night as he sleeps before W/we start co-habitating as part of a ritual. It is a decorative designed dog collar.
I have two styles of permanent collars. One is called an Eternal collar -solid steel with a hinge and key.
The other is more like a decorative choker. (masculine) A SW design. he will wear this one in the years he has to work in public.
When he retires, I will present him with the Eternal one.

i like the idea of a collar, i like the idea of a lot of things lol. i just want to say how jealous i am of you all who have the kind of relationship where you feel secure and loved like that. i once suggested getting a tag to wear on a ribbon so i could wear it all the time with my everyday clothes. he seemed into it but then the idea just disappeared. i hope one day i find somebody to be that close with instead of just being the greeneyed monster. loving all the pics, so gorgeous a lot of them!
