all I have to say is......

when I draw nudes I tend to get my porportions all wrong.....what is the best way to learn? I've never had drawing classes....just picked up what I know on my own. Where I come from in secondary school you either go into the sciences or the arts and I went into the sciences so never even had secondary school art.

Sometimes it's not just proportions that screw people up. Remember to check your negative space to ensure your angles and such are right or it won't turn out right anyway.

an anatomy book..and/or a how to draw...is not a "bad" idea. a class with a good instructor is BETTER. I have done some figure drawing instruction back in my university days. If the instructor is knowledgable, patient and onservant...you can learn "gobs"! watch someone draw (who draws well)...have someone watch you draw...


the books give you some formula's...which are helpful to a degree. learning anatomy...musculature and skeletal systems is also helpful....but observing is KEY.

there ARE "tricks"...techniques....and things to learn from books....foreshortening etc...

not sure if I can fit a class into my time but I can get an anatomy book and a how to.......watching someone draw might be hard...no one I know in RL. I'll see what I can do. In the mean time I shall continue doodlings...

Hubby got a book while in his second bought of University that helped me alot, it is a science anatomy book, but its like a colouring book. Just looking at how the muscles twist and turn around the skeletal system and where 'fat' deposits helps alot. I think thats why mine are so bare, too scared to add to much thinking they will look messy, or too scared to screw them up!

That sounds like a good idea. What's funny is that I can draw other stuff just fine just not realistic looking nude people. I'll be giving that a try....practice, practice and then some more should help. Thanks
