Curiousity: What is your choice of animal?

I also have a Seal point ragdoll and a plain old domestic grey/white cat. Love rags, will never be without one of them in my life either.
~Smiling~ the way I wound up with a bluepoint Birman (my runt, lol) was because I couldn't find a bluepoint Ragdoll. They look almost identical, except Birman's have medium length fur and short, stocky legs.

please tell me more about this
Hi Richard - I think the brand name of the cat litter bags that I use are "Johnny Cat". They're in a royal blue colored box. They're pretty large in size, my litter box is a large one with a top on it. The bags have a plastic drawstring built into each bag - so all you need to do is lift the sides up, pull the string and tie it up.

You wind up buying litter more often, but I'd rather do that than deal with the scooper. ;)

I'm a dog person. I have 2 little dominant dachsunds that have trained me well to meet their needs and cater to their whims.

I like cats, but they make me itch and sneeze.

And I bet those two are tasty Des.

My ragdoll is actually a "shorthair" rag, so his coat is pretty short compared to most typical rags. Everyone calls him a siamese, and then looks at me like I'm a complete idiot when I say he isn't a siamese. I try telling them that Siamese is a breed, not a colour, and that every seal point or blue eyed cat you see is NOT a simease, but rarely does anyone believe me LOL. Oh well. I really want a blue colourpoint or mitted and hoping to get one soon, a friend of mine in Canada raises them.

I'm an all around animal person. I love dogs and cats both, but I consider myself a horse person above all else. Of course that has something to do with horses being my animal totem.

All my dogs and cats are rescues except for my show stud and one of the cats.

Right now I have :
-Gandalf, aka Ch. Kort-Mar's Sparkling Diamond , my champion -american eskimo stud dog
-Princess, a border collie mix
-Sabriel, a chihuahuah
-Lestat, a white shepherd/wolf/something else mix
-6 cats, none of any specific breed, named Desiree, Akasha, Archon, Draven,Widdershin, and Egregor
-a gerbil, Cartmen
-2 rats, Odin and Osiris
-a mouse, Beethoven
-a hamster, Pisces
-3 parakeets, Jade, Periwinkle, and Isis
-a betta, Gimli
-a turtle, Neptune
-a frog, Merlyn
-Dash, aka Dash of Debonair, a 16 hand, 15 yr old sorrel gelding registered quarter horse by champion race horse Streakin Six and out of a Dash for Cash daughter, that I barrel race and trail ride
-Barbie, aka Bar-B Mabels Birdie, a 16 yr old, 14.2 hand registered bay quarter horse mare, a grandaughter of King on her dam's side and a grandaughter of Doc o Lena on her sire's side, that we do speed events, trail class, reining, western riding, team sorting, and trail riding with
-Dustee, aka Mirage's Dustee Dream, a 15.1 hand dapple gray registered pinto gelding that I show at open shows in all the events, including western, english, speed, and halter

Would like to get another dog in the future, probably a great dane because I've always loved them ever since I had one as a child. I'd also like to have another horse, either a nice western pleasure paint horse or a friesan dressage horse....Actually I'd like to have both, but I'll never have enough money. Maybe when my credit is a little better I can take out about a 20k loan and get a new show horse...the friesan I doubt I'll ever get, since I've yet to see a good one under about 40k.

Yeah, yeah, too much info...what can I say, I love talking about my babies....

Well its not a huge place, but its fairly well equipped. My house is only a two bedroom but its big enough for the cats and 2 of the dogs.

My stud dog has a 10 x 10 kennel, which is plenty for his size, plus I bring him in the house for a while every day. The wolfdog has a 60 x 10 foot kennel.

We have five acres of land with facilities for the horses. We have a 60 ft roundpen, 200 x100 ft arena, one pole barn thats got four 12 x 12 stalls with 12x12 runs, plus a feed room and two tackrooms. It's standing empty right now, but I'll probably eventually take in some borders or new training prospects or maybe buy some new horses to give lessons on since we sold our good lesson pony.

We've also got an indoor show barn with 4 stalls and a large tackroom. Both barns have running water and the show barn has electricty and a phone line. We're getting ready to put lights on the arena and to build a washrack for the horses, too. Eventually I'd like to get a hot walker too, so that I wouldn't have to spend so much time cooling the horses down after a workout. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up covering the arena after we pay off the new barn. As you can see, the animals are not just a hobby for us, it's a way of life.

And if your ever in Texas, just give me a holler :) I love being around other animal people and of course my animals love attention! They're all spoiled rotten....

I don't know if I'm a cat person or a dog person. I'm owned by 4 cats (was just adopted by another stray) and am the owner of 1 dog who is constantly reminded by said cats that she is only allowed to live here because they deem it so. One would think a Rotty would have more say in such things; but I suppose not.

Well I got family in San Antonio so I get that way once in a while ;)

Re: white_mage_goddess

I have to agree with you. I'm more a dog person than
cat, but horses above all. Been riding since I was 3, and
worked in show barns all through high school before going
to an equestrian college.

Horse crazy. :D We have Appys, way too many of them, count
right now is at thirteen thanks to all the darned babies.

But mine is a gelding, western broke and currently going
english, hunt seat and dressage.

-I'd like a Friesian too. *sighs* 20-40 K is just a bit steep
for a dressage horse, no matter how I'd like it. But let me
look, I have a site somewhere around here in my browser
that is a breeder in California, I think.. they sell in-utero
friesian foals for around 8K. I can give you the link, if you like. :)

LOL its true you dont own cats..they own you..
you also cant train cats but they train you

You'll have to pm me that link....that's the cheapest I've ever seen a purebred friesan. When I was doing research the best I found was 6 month old foals for around 10k...anything grown was at least 15k, anything broke at least 25k and anything with a winning record.....well you know how that they high they get :)

I"ve never had an appy...there aren't any good looking ones around here. All the appys in my area are the old fashioned, mule headed, no tail kind....I think show bred appys are lovely though and wouldn't mind having one if there wasn't such a bias against them in the open shows here. I do think its great that your trying to do dressage and english on a horse of color though ...that can really be a challenge in some areas where the judges aren't used to seeing stock breeds in the ring.

Good luck to you :)

Ok, I gotta ask you horse owners
Do you ever go out in the stables at night and use the tack with your lovers for "kinky purposes"???

Appys are doing wonderfully in the dressage and eventing
shows nowadays, due to the new Appaloosa sport horse
type being bred up. There's the farm with Wap Spotted,
and another with Wap Spot 2, who is the former's sire. My
own gelding is a 16HH leopard, with a lovely long tail that drags
on the ground, but I wish his mane would grow out a bit. :D

Finding that link for you, white_mage_goddess, and in the
meantime, let me comment on the tack question :p

I've used a riding crop before on a lover.. as well as padded
hobbles. They work great as soft cuffs.

Ah. Here we go. One of the sites, there's another, but I
can't find the link as of yet.
http://www.moonstruckmeadows.com/

They do In-utero foal contracts for both their Andalusians
and their friesians. They're 8K or slightly above for foals
before their birth, which gives you months to pay while
the mare is carrying. It's a nice system to let you afford
a very expensive breed.

I've done it out in the tack room a few times, but I tend to keep my toys separate from my actual horse tack. I just don't feel right being spanked with the same crop I use on my horse!

Hehe..I've done the hobbles thing too.....and their SOO much cheaper than buying wrist cuffs made for people.

I'd add as a piece of advice to the non horse people out there:

Always check tack stores for bondage supplies and whips before shilling out major bucks for stuff at sex shops. You can get crops for five dollars or less and a plethora of whips and quirts for as much as a third of what they'd be elsewhere. I have one handmade leather quirt that I paid 25 dollars for. Saw the same thing at a sex store for 75. You can buy nylon hobbles for as little as 5 dollars and they work the same as those ones you'll pay 40 bucks for at a sex shop. You can find pony size snaffle bits for about 10 bucks that are just the right size for a ponyboy or girl.

I did riding for a year... i loved it but than my mom gave me an ultimatum for the next year... dancing or riding... not both... so i wound up choosing dancing.. i wish i had chose riding.. i love horses...

my pet store nearby... Pet Co. has a horse section with saddles and such.. i love going there looking at all the animals than looking at the crops and whips than over to the dog collars... *smiles* i even have a dog tag that says Kon's name and mine

I'm just an all around animal person.. currently we have four cats.... one dog.... a parrot.. a five foot iguana.. and a 30 gal tank of fish........ none are for play so if a lady wants to jump over and get on her hands and knees..

I love all animals. I currently serve 3 cats, and look with exasperation upon my 7 month old German Shepard puppy. My favorite dogs are Great Danes. We had several while I was growing up, and I love the personality that they all seem to share. I love horses, but can not afford to own one right now.

My children and I have always had a menagerie, so I am suffering terrible withdrawal since coming to live with Master and our discovery we were not allowed any pets here. I found homes for our dog, a beautiful Keeshond, and our 2 cats, a Rag Doll/Russian Blue cross (the baby) and Russian Blue (mama). If I ever had to choose between cats and dogs though I would have to go with cats. I adore their independence and intelligence, their sleekness and loose, luxurious movements. I love dogs too but find them too demanding of attention, more often than not on those days when you just want to forget everything and zone out awhile. Hard to do with an adorable, loving, expectant face puffing and panting in front of you just begging to be centre of attention.

I love cats. Since I moving to the East Coast I have not been able to have a cat.

I like their "kiss my ass attitude, kinda like mine. We understand each other.
