Deep Space [OOC/Recruitment Thread]

I'm adding to the list of questions, then! Crap, sorry.

Will the crew have known each other when they finally wake up? Or at least seen each other, I guess? I would imagine that they would have met other members of the crew, but maybe not. Just checkin'.

SortOfBeautiful: The crew will only know each other if you planned with something with a certain player or a few players, but I rather you not because then that creates tea parties.

The crew will have never seen each other or met each other before. When they wake up, it'll be their first contact/interaction with each other.

Everyone: There were some concerns about the speed of this game. This game will not go fast at all and it won't be dragging. I have a life; you have a life; this game is going to move moderately but if you find yourself unable to post for a solid week without excuse (such as vacation, IRL issues, etc.) then this game may not be the game for you. I WILL get rid of you if I feel you're holding up the game. This is why I am accepting so many people into the game because I can pretty much bet that we're going to get some inactives. It just happens.

Fear not. I'll post at least once a day, if not twice. I'm just waiting to get this thing started.

About Posting:

Okay. We did have this one problem in the past where a player decided to just post constantly and whenever he wanted and he didn't give the partner he was posting with a chance to respond because he just chronically, compulsively kept posting.

This is not allowed. You will not post all the damn time in a manner, which I call "for the hell of it." You may be capable of posting once-thrice in a day or every day, but not everyone will. Most people here have busy schedules and jobs, and so we don't want to pressure anyone or rush anyone.

If you post what you need to say for your character in one post, then not only will you have more to write, but your post should be very detailed. You'll have said what needed to be said in that one post so there shouldn't be thousands of 50 word posts all over the place. Do not do that crap. You will not be writing here long if I see that crap happen. Just saying.

All I ask is that you be courteous to your fellow players. Do not worry about them if they take too long. That's my job. If anyone goes inactive, I'll handle it and get their spot filled, if necessary. But yes, don't worry about GM matters. I assure you, I got it. Just have fun.

Just a heads up, I may have a co-GM soon. Someone who will manage the game if ever I am absent for a period. I will be sending that GM pms to help guide the game, but there may be a period in September, where I'll disappear for three weeks or so. It can't be more than a month, if it is I'll let you know through the co-GM. I'll more than likely pick a pretty active and reliable person. Not saying I don't think those who aren't picked are unreliable. It'll be just someone who I feel would do the game some justice.

Just following this with unfortunate interest as I can't get in. But, I shall watch with interest should the opportunity arise!

Hey everybody,

I'm going to be dealing with this game in a few hours. What I ask is that those females who still haven't put out a profile after they said they would, to do so as soon as you can. I'll make some management decisions when I get around to it. But yes, I plan to get everyone and everything straight today and we'll see if we can finally start the game. :)

All right. This is my decision. Because I know a female is planning to join us soon. She hasn't posted her character's profile up yet, but because I know this, Dreamweaver you can go ahead and submit a profile for the character you had in mind. As for the rest of us, I'm going to get this game rolling. Do not be surprised if some of you see me post a post I've used before. There's just no point in me describing the intro post, which describes the first experience "again" in a different manner.

Everyone be sure to read the Odysseus thread before you post for it gives you a basic guideline of what to expect. As for any further guidance, you can expect to receive that from me through the Rita character. :)

I decided if we get anyone interested as we play, we can incorporate them later as long as there's a 1 male: 1 female ratio. If there isn't, then I'm sorry, you have to sit out until a miracle happens. People tend to leave games so you might get lucky and will be able to replace their character with your own.

First post is up. For now, everyone is permitted to post once and only once until otherwise told. There is a reason for this. I'm not doing this to constipate your excitement. :)

Devlyn Skye

Hi! I would like to join the story. Here's my character.

Name: Devlyn Skye
Nickname: Dev or Skylark (Nickname from childhood.)
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Height: 5'1" (154.94 cm)
Weight: 112 lb (50.8 kg)
Hair Color: Blue-Black (Hip length straight hair that's cut in subtle layers & usually bound in a thick braid.)
Eye Color: Golden Brown

Visual Description: A petite Asian with an athletic figure, firm B cup breasts, small waist, slim hips and small feet. A heart shape face with a widow's peak, large slanted eyes, pert nose and dusky rose lips.

Written Description: Pierced lower lobes with small white gold hoops and etched silver cuff earring over the right ear, near the top. On lower back, below the hips is an intricate tattoo that has a soft, iridescent glimmer: a simple eternity loop nestled between two Chinese symbols. Heaven on top and Dreams on bottom.

Dev enjoys challenging her mind with various projects and push her body with marital arts. Her one vanity is her long hair. She's clueless to her own beauty but she loves the look and feel of her hair. It only comes unbound during her downtime.

Occupation: Engineer - Tech geek that loves to deconstruct & reconstruct stuff from anything and everything.

Personality: Seems quiet at first glance but her eyes are always alive with a spark of curiosity, very observant, quick to laugh and flash an impish grin. Just as likely to vanish when she's caught up in a project or pushed to an emotional extreme. Generally easy going and tactful, Dev has a quirky sense of humor. It's easy to forget her brilliant mind or fast reflexes because she's thoughtful, calm and helpful. Yet when her emotions go out of control, she can be wild. While the first to be there to help anyone in need, Dev forgets to take care of herself. Somewhat naive and inexperienced.

Likes: Good food, variety of music, puzzles, reading, martial arts, psychology & sociology.

Dislikes: Liars, those who take advantage of the weak, sensitive to smells, drugs, inability to act

Talents: Creative with tech (building or destroying), skilled martial artist, singer, basic emergency medical, sketch artist & avid photographer.

Psychological Quirks: Dev has a habit of humming and singing when she's working alone or faced with a complicated problem to solve. She loves to sing but is terribly shy about singing loudly in any group or in front of a crowd. She has a ruthless side that comes to the fore in defense of another in danger.

Brief Background: Adopted by a caring couple in Virginia, Dev doesn't know her background or history. She grew up learning to love science and music from her Mom. A joy for martial arts and sociology from her Dad. An unfortunate accident killed her parents while Dev was in college. She's had a sheltered upbringing that challenged her mind & body but left her inexperienced in many things that others take for granted. A yearning for adventure and challenge leads Dev to space. She wants to experience life by living it rather than just reading about it.

Alien Encounter: B, C or E (No alien pregnancies or mutations.)

Do's: Almost anything goes as long as it fits within the story.

Donts: No scat, piss, gore, gushing blood or extreme. Not really interested in same sex.

I'll accept this, but I ask that you list "letters" in Alien Encounters. If you don't want pregnancies or mutations, then don't list those letters. Only add the letters that apply. I need this section to be specific for when it comes time to venture on the Galileo.

3094 SortOfBeautiful not 2094.

Oh lord, somebody started it back up again. So much for getting fine dining and fresh food. It's back to the healthy choice menu, and this doesn't mean that the food will be as savory as good ol' fashioned cooking.

It'll just make the Christmas party more worth it.

Alrighty. I changed it as you asked.

I picked up on the date & the wilty greens. You can always blame the bad food on the fact that it was made by someone that can't cook.

Question - Is food made by a synthesizer or do we have live supplies? Say real greens from hydroponics bay or is everything freeze dried yummies that come to life with a drop of water?

Woot! Now I can really brainstorm my intro.

Thank you. Just because one person got bad food, doesn't mean everyone does. :) Bryanna wasn't really given a choice.

I'll change the date. Habit, haha.

LOL

No one likes a mash of green goo. I mean. Who needs to eat Slimer? =D

Just wondering, are you still accepting males? If not, I understand, but I am really interested in this idea.

Still looking for more girlies?

Had to create a new user here but I'm looking to get back in to playing and I miss good ole Kat. She was fun.

You can reuse her. If you want. Most have been reusing their characters and welcome back! :)

Cool and thanks! Hope to get back into the swing of things. I'll find that old profile and slap some polish on it.
