I've been doing this every couple of weeks just for fun. It started to prep for pegging, but now it's just an enjoyable thing to do. I don't get especially turned on by it, but it feels good to me.

Use a silicone based lube not water based, water based can dry out and become uncomfortable
Then get different sizes and work your way up, this is a lot of fun!

I use coconut oil for my lube and yes, definitely try different sizes after you get used to the small ones...that's how I did it and I never had any pain or discomfort...and I also started douching (or enema) before I put anything in my bottom ...love being clean

For me glass is the best. Still a newbie but find the silicon can be a little painful as they seem to dry out.

Try a larger one, with a good large flange. Lots of the starter kits with three plugs go up to 'not very big', and anyone who eats plenty of fibre and has efficient bowels is likely to be able to take them fine.

But yeah, they will try to escape eventually, no matter what. Options include an inflatable plug (often more comfortable for men and not for those with a more padded arse), or using rope or a harness or snug underwear to hold the plug in place.

Just keep them wet and work up in size to where you are comfortable. I just took my newest toy balls deep this week: 9.5" x 2.25"

You don't need to prep like it's a medical procedure to be relaxed and comfortable (its NOT a colonoscopy unless your wife intends to peg you with a damn garden hose). If you are feeling bloated, and also not coming out clean after many tries- you've gone too high, triggered the 'ol system to start moving along again in your colon. Flush using a bulb, don't need tons of water or tries (again, that triggers too high up and makes it take way longer than needed), use water not too hot or cold (too hot will injure your lining, too cold can cause cramping). Don't overthink it- with time youll learn to enjoy the prep as a lovely build up! Music, drink, shower, flush out a few times, a few hours before if possible (allows time for any water caught to be absorbed). And ultimately, accept what it is- yes, at some point, you might see poop. Rational adults don't lose their minds, tidy and move on and enjoy the experience with your wife!

Great advice on cleaning and prep.
If I know I am likely to wear a plug, I take a dose of Mirilax before bed the night before.
It's not a laxative so you don't cramp or bloat. It draws water to your intestines to help stool move along.
If I feel backed up, I don't engage in anal.

It has a slight numbing effect and shrinks cells that would press on nerves.
