Why, Santy Claus, why? Why did you take my flaming away? Why?
Why my sweet darling Mary Lou Who, I was taking the flamerthrower back to my workshop to fix it. I'll bring it back.
And his fib fooled the child. So he patted her head and he gave her a flame and he sent her to bed.
Then he quickly went back to work, adding multiple mods to each forum, choosing the most conservative he could find.
DrDav said:In the last week, examples of the things I am surprised go unchecked include: Glorification of the current middle-east conflict (including the glorification of killing children), and also curtailments to free speech by means of thread hi-jacking, blatent trolling and verbal (or should I say textual) abuse.
I believe in free-speech, although don't the rest of you think such things as I've mentioned diminish the value of free speech if that is what people do with it ?
If am I really wrong? If so, would you please explain to me what place such behaviours have here, and how it is right for them to remain posted here?
Recidiva said:Yes, you're really wrong.
What's restricted here is what's illegal. Not what's stupid or what you disagree with.
Free speech means you get to listen to every moron. But it also means if you're a moron, you get to speak.
Everyone's a moron to someone else. If we started telling every moron not to speak, we'd just get to hear the egotistical maniacs in charge tell everyone what to say.
Signed,
A loud moron.
DrDav said:So, you wouldn't want anything done about someone who would, lets say, started talking about killing your children?
You would be happy for that to be on this forum?
Eilan said:You seem pretty thin-skinned. Are you sure Lit is the place for you?
Trolling
Troll list.
Flame bucket
DrDav said:It's not a matter of being thin skinned. It's a rule.
I like people to treat me how I would treat, them, and I do the same in kind.
If someone is rude/disrespectful/abusive towards me, I return the behaviour in kind - i.e. I don't let unacceptable behaviour go unchecked. If people want to behave in a way to get other people down, then why not stop it being worth their while for the amount of flack they will get in return if they don't "play nice" ?
Recidiva said:Internet threats don't bother me so much. If they bother you, put the people on ignore.
You have all the editing tools you need on your side of things to block out what you don't want to hear and who you don't want to hear it from.
I've received threats on my life, threats on my kids' lives. I think they're pathetic and usually funny.
How afraid can you be of someone on the other side of the wire? If they're at my door, I'll take them seriously then.

Just going back to one of the above examples, I reported the comments made about theconflict, including comments made about. Yet, nothing was done. That is why I have a lack of confidence in what little moderation is used here, and why I find it hard to believe that so many people like it the way it is. I'm sure the person who posted was nothing more than a "", but surely isn't such behaviour demeaning the value of the forum if that is the sort of chatter that is allowed to be had?
Recidiva said:What you seem to be doing here is fighting but saying the fight shouldn't exist.
I enjoy the fight, it's partly why I'm here.
You're entering the boxing ring and saying "What's with all the punching?"
Find a moderated board if it's uncomfortable.
You can block out the fights. But that's the reason for getting in the ring.
DrDav said:I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't object to such talk though.
No because what you did didn't make sense.quoll said:Is this what you really want?
Scalywag said:you're assuming everyone has the same expectations

I think you're getting Literotica confused with the argument room sketch from monty python.
If you come to an erotica forum, can't you guess what you'd expect to find and not to find there?
Recidiva said:You're on an erotica forum on the internet. You find what you find. If you haven't caught on to the basic nature of the internet unmoderated, then you're in the wrong place.
DrDav said:No because what you did didn't make sense.
Imparticular, who was I offending, who was I disrupting?
Also, you blanks don't even correlate, so no, I actually want something that makes sense, which is not what you posted.

It was a demonstration of what happens if you start censoring out things you find distastefull, which btw appears to be your main complaint, youfind it distasteful.
DrDav said:I'm going round in bloody circles here.
I know it's virtually unmoderated on here, that's why I started the thread in the first place !!! Because that is the problem !!!
People get away with treating each other like **** for the sake of laughs. That isn't free speech, it's an abuse of free speech.
