What utterly arrogant attitudes you espouse - they are borderline offensive to me.

You're wrong if you expect moderators to act in a forum with no moderators. YOUR rules don't apply here, necessarily, nor do your mores. Your expectations do apply, of course, to your own behaviors.

In that unmoderated forum it remains possible to bring attention to posts one considers inappropriate as defined by the rules of the site itself. At times such posts are removed or otherwise modified. sometimes in response to reports by members.

This entire topic has no place in the How To forum, but the moderator has left it in place. Do you have a problem with that?

to consider that the number of people pointing out why they see this issue
differently might, just might, indicate there was something for you to think
about (as in , more going on than meets your eyes) you also might figure
out the differences in the various forums. The Playground, for instance,
is sort of safe from the sort of obnoxicity you appear to prefer to avoid,
whereas the General Board is rife with it.

There are costs and benefits to each.

I've been offended by posts before.

However, that's what free speech is all about. Free speech gives us the right to speak - it doesn't guarantee us that we'll like what everyone else has to say when exercising their rights to the same.

I've reported posts as well - but they were reported because they were promoting other sites (spam) or giving someone else's personal information.

In the last week, examples of the things I am surprised go unchecked include: Glorification of the current middle-east conflict (including the glorification of killing children), and also curtailments to free speech by means of thread hi-jacking, blatent trolling and verbal (or should I say textual) abuse.

I believe in free-speech, although don't the rest of you think such things as I've mentioned diminish the value of free speech if that is what people do with it ?

If am I really wrong? If so, would you please explain to me what place such behaviours have here, and how it is right for them to remain posted here?

I don't think you really understand the concpet of Free Speech if you object people using thread-jacking to "shout down" a poster or topic they disagree with.

I have several hundred names on my ignore list -- mostly spammers, but also a good many people who do nothing but hijack threads.

So, you wouldn't want anything done about someone who would, lets say, started talking about killing your children?

A specific threat to kill somone's children would be illegal and therefore against the sites minimal rules.

However, a diatribe against children in general or even advocating that a group of children should be massacred is NOT illegal and merely a sick and twisted (IMO) excercise of free-speech.

These forums (the general board in particular) may be associated with an erotic story site, but they are NOT "Erotic Forums" -- they are simply "forums" where the participants choose what they wish to discuss.

Some of the topic specific forums are moderated but thelevel of moderation is pretty much limited to removing spam and moving off-topic (for the forum) posts to a more appropriate forum, usually the unmoderated General Board.

And on that note, I think this thread has deviated far enough from a "How To" that it might well be time for our ilustrious How To Moderator to move it to the HT Cafe or General Board.

The "How To" part of your question has been thoroughly (and occasionally bluntly) answered: "You CANNOT get moderation at Literotica and specifically the General Board increased." Everything else is a philosophical discussion that has no relationship to the purpose of the How To forum.
