Slight digression, but I don't think the English can do bacon like the Americans. It's ok, sometimes pretty good, but the pictures of American bacon make me think it's a different food entirely.

This applewood smoked bacon is the most delicious thing I have ever put in my mouth. I only buy it when it's on sale cause it's super pricey.

From my limited experience: cover streaky bacon in oil, fry until crisp then cover in maple syrup. Gets it close to the pictures
