News & Views: Discussion and Announcements for the Survivorphile

Question:

Does anyone see a problem in bumping the Immunities' deadlines from Tuesdays at midnight to Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, which is, after all, the deadline for betting on the UK Lottery itself?

If you are asking us for our opinions, I see nothing wrong in moving the deadline. That is Greenwich Mean Time, isn't it? I believe that would be 1:30 PM in California.

7:30 PM GMT would be 11:30 AM PST. :)

I just think it makes more sense to have our deadline associated with the Lottery's. The way it is now, we have a gap of almost 24 hours before the drawing during which no new contestants can pick a number, for no logical reason...

No, not at all. Just wanted to ask a question. I did not see anything in the instructions nor in Laurel's general site information that applies to this and I wanted to get an answer about it.

Thanks,
Velvet

As far as I know, there are no limits as to how many stories you can submit at once. Of course that there's no telling about how soon they'll be posted. There are only so many stories Laurel can go through in one night.

Literotica will only post multipart stories at a rhythm of one a day; other than that, it's only a matter of overall output from the Editors...

If you cannot find you ScoreCard, try this:

Go to the Edit Options section of your UserCP, and change the Default Thread View from "Use forum default" to "Show all threads".

After you do that, scroll down and hit "Submit Modifications".
We changed this forum's Default Thread View to show all posts made in the last year, so this should no longer be necessary. :)

Posting parts of the chain.

I was wondering how do people submit their parts in the chain?
I've read how the first person does it, submitting the time table and all that.
But how do the rest of the authors submit?

Lauren, are my PM's getting through to you? I think I sent you two on updating the scoreboard (which has been taken care of thanks to Jim) but I was wondering if I'm having trouble PMing people?

Thanks.

Let's discuss letters and transcripts :D

Let's say there is a story, and weaved into the story are emails, so it looks like this:

John could not stop thinking of Jane. Sat infront of his computer and raised his fingers to his keyboard.

John: Hello
Jane: Hi, sexy

ETC. and then back to the story. Hopefully more compelling I'm sure, but the question I have is whether or not this would be counted under Letters and Transcripts, or whether, because it is not 'pure' letter, would have to be counted in another category like Erotic Couples.

:) Thanks.

Hi, MissLusty-

The other authors simply submit their stories according to the schedule, as they would for any others, except under "Chain Stories". :)

Everything is working, I got the messages. Sorry I didn't reply right away, but I did update the scoreboard as quickly as possible. :D

Sometimes, because it's a more complex task than what it seems, I tend to wait until the end of the day, in case more people ask to be updated, but I always do it within a few hours.

Well, it's up to decide where to try to submit it, and up to Laurel to decide to accept it or not, but I believe that would work. There are several stories that follow that sort of structure in there already. :):rose:

When I submit the first part of a chain story, I have to post a link to the timetable of the chain.

How do I get the link to go directly to the timetable and not just the thread page that it is on?

Chains are complicated things!!

I think this is the link you need: link ;)

A word of advice, from what is my experience with Chain Stories. The schedule should be something like:

Chapter 1 - by MissLusty - submitted on 21st feb - to post on 3rd Mar
Chapter 2 - by goldeniangel - submitted on 1st Mar - to post on 11th Mar
etc.

If each of you include the date on which you want the chapter to be posted on the notes field of the submission form, Laurel will hold it until then and your readers can expect to find a new chapter every thursday, or every saturday, or whatever day you decide. :)

Just for clarification. The submitted dates are the dates that we submit the chapter to literotica and the to post on dates are the dates we are asking laurel to hold them till before posting?
Is that right?

Yes, that's right.

I corrected the link on my previous post. Sorry, I had screwed it up. :) :rose:

Well that's just not good enough, who's your superior?

Lol, just kidding. Don't worry about it.

Thanks for all the help.

Tasha.

OK, after having read the Score Board, I have a radical suggestion:

How about we kidnap velvetpie & Sexxy Vixen, tie them up, and don't let them loose until December 31st, at, say, 11.45 PM?

LOL :D

Well, you have to take into consideration that they already received almost all the bonus points they can possibly receive, so their progression will be slower from now on. We haven't even reached the end of the second month of competition.

And remember all the top 15 survivors, at least, get prizes. ;)

Current News:

At the end of the 2nd month of Survivor, we have 50 registered contestants, already responsible for a total close to 800 submissions. Despite having only 28 days, there were considerably more submissions made during February than there were the month before.

Velvetpie and Sexxy Vixen are still leading the pack, but the greatest leap was by Goldeniangel, who is now clear in the 3rd spot.

And these are only the early days. With 10 months to go, anything can happen. Good luck, Survivorphiles! :rose:

Mature Category

Can someone help me figure out what the mature category is?

Is it sex between old people, because ick!!! I don't know how I meant to write something like that.

Somehow two wrinkly old bodies grinding together doesn't really inspire many erotic fantasies or story ideas.

Sorry old folks, no offense intended!

Mature - May / December lust & love affairs.

That's what it says on the main index page. I take it to mean that one of the people involved is considerably older than the other.

Like all categories, though, its interpretation is flexible. :)

Thanks Lauren, I'll have to find some way to twist this into something I feel I can write.
Your help is really appreciated. :cathappy:

It would be interesting to have some sort of recognition for the survivorphiles based on the average rating of their 2005 submissions. Quality AND quantity, in other words (insofar as the ratings can be assumed to reflect quality).

Hi, Imp-

There was some discussion about this earlier on (you can check the first page of this thread), but here's the thing:

There is no way of keeping score in a system based in the ratings of the story. H's are transient, here today and gone tomorrow, and there is no way for anyone to keep track of the ratings of all the stories and poems posted at the site at all times.

It would be possible to have some sort of bonus for stories and poems that win people's choice awards and special contests, but that would probably only increase the level of trolling. On the other hand, those who do win other contests already have recognition (for winning those contests ;)).

So, while we may agree in theory with the idea of rewarding quality as well as quantity, it is neither what this particular contest is about, nor would it be feasible under fair conditions...

Anyone else having problems with the description field since the new keyword tags were added? It's not working for me. I put a description in, but when I hit submit, it shows up blank as if I didn't put one there.

In the notes field, I stated it wasn't working and wrote what I wanted my description to be. Just a heads up for any who submit anything until it's fixed. Make sure after you hit submit to check your submission for a description.

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already. How would a colloboration work for the Survivor contest? Only one person can submit the story, so how does this work for Survivor credit?

Thanks!

SJ

Hi, Sophia-

Only submissions posted under the name you signed up with (i.e. sophia jane) will be eligible for points in Survivor. Anything else you write, alone or in collaboration, that is posted under a username different than the one you have right now, won't count.
