nh's big book of Dr. visits.

I know:mad: My place of employment doesn't offer health insurance. Well they do but there's a catch. Suffice it to say I can't get it. It was never a problem because I've worked there for a long time, when I started there I was married, had insurance and didn't need it.

I'm in the process of going back to school. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get student insurance or not, but I'm sure this will be considered a pre-exsisting condition.

Look into the high risk pool. (Whee welcome aboard) It's expensive, but it's often cheaper than COBRA or even what some workplaces offer. I've paid more for less.

I actually just did it!

Finally

Thanks nh :rose:

and no hardly anything makes me squick...so I read on lol. I'm not surprised it hurts to pee! I don't know which to hope it is for you lol.....I guess that its not a UTI...that would be the icing on the cake eh. Lets hope its just a bit sore after the procedure.

Hopefully your quack can give you something

Yay! I'm glad you have it scheduled. Called the Dr today, but I have to wait as it's my time of the month and a urine test won't be accurate right now. So the waiting game again.

Oh, ok. Thank you for that. :)

Seriously?

Not to hijack the thread, but I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do about insurance myself because my scleroderma is no longer in remission. I barely make enough money to pay my bills, but it's still too much for Medicaid.

Nh23, I'm very sorry to hear your news. Best wishes for remission and recovery.

You can start by writing both of these folks and whichever of these applies and even this guy.

Yours is a perfect example of why we need to reform health insurance in this country. Now is the time to speak up.

Thank you! I could also write these people. :) However I don't see things changing in time to help me with the current issue, but maybe in the future.

You mean, these people and one of these. ;)

Maybe in the future, yes. But hopefully, not too long from now. We're closer than every before and god knows, we're trying.

You are another outstanding example of what's wrong with the current system. It's just downright shameful, it really is.

If you have the time and energy, I do think that writing is a good idea. At the very least, it could be a great opportunity to vent! And it also might give valuable ammo to supporters of reform, and help convince reluctant Blue Dogs to do the right thing.

I was an intern for a politician eight zillion years ago and the staff really does look for real life people like you to tell their stories. You're a single mom who works and can't get insurance. You've got a story to tell!

I'm not sure I articulate well enough to get my point across.

If you want, I would happily help you with it! Do you think you could send me the basic facts? I swear, I write better letters than I do posts on a porn board.;)

Sure! What kind of things do you need to know?

Can you write me one that'd convince Republican Bible Belt Senators and Representatives, ITW? 'Cause I don't think I'm that good. :p

Today was a pretty good day. :) Work really wore me out, but once I got home Master made dinner. It was really good.:D Then while he was working I had a great conversation about music, and the green lantern, and kink. Today has really made me smile.:)

Good to hear.

Can I ask if you were told which strain of HPV you have which has lead to the cancer? I've just had my 3rd Gardasil jab. My specialist gyno suggested Gardasil over Cervarix, but my GP suggested Cervarix. I spoke to my pharmacist - she'd had the Gardasil, and that is what I selected.

Gardasil - recommended for the younger girls (protects against HPV types 11, 16, 18, 6 - where types 11 and 6 are responsible for 90% of genital warts).
Cervarix - recommended for older women (protects against HPV types 16 and 18 which are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers)
What I want to know is - why on earth couldn't they combine the two!?! The pharmacist basically said that it was two different companies competing for sales. Pity, it would be nice to think that pharmaceutical companies were trying to find metter medicines and save lives.

No I don't think so. There is probably a chemical reason why they can't be combined. Think about it. If a company could create an all in one the competitor would go out of business. At least for that medication.

...that's what I thought. According to my pharmacist, it's not the case. Now, I COULD have had both jabs, but I need 3 booster shots for each, and at $150 per jab (plus $40 to have a nurse give it to me) that's about $500 for each option. (I only picked one due to cost and the fact that I AM "older" and chances are I've been exposed anyway. At least I'll not get warts! )

40 dollars to give a shot is insane. Like a 4000 dollar tire rotation.

If both companies own a patent on their respective drug, that might be the reason they can't be combined into one drug. I have no idea. Patents aren't forever though. At any rate, that wouldn't explain why both can't be administered.

I'll give you shots for a *lot* less than $40 each

How many would you like at a time - 10, 20, 50?

Not me. I hate needles, shots and those fucking guns they shoot you with 20 times in the navy. There is one you get in the ass that hurts for days.

More like they can be combined, but it is better to charge you for one type now, then the other type later.
