Prayers and thoughts needed.

Cranks happy thought vibes up to 11 for the family Quoll, and anybody else who needs an extra boost.

Cranking a vibe up to 11 ought to boost anyone's spirits.

Okay, shame on me....

Well there was a Star trek moment, with Scotty shouting "She canna take much more cap'n" but a teeny Machiato sorted that out no problem.

One of my former students--whom everyone calls Cavey--from several years ago and whom I now consider a friend got married 6 months ago. Three weeks before his wedding, his finance, now wife, was diagnosed with cancer--Leiomyosarcoma.

He contacted me tonight to tell me that the cancer has progressed to her lungs and she is now hospitalized and on her third type of chemotheraphy. The odds are apparently not in her favor except that the doctor is encouraged that she isn't getting sicker now that they have started this third type of chemotheraphy.

Apparently, Leiomyosarcoma is also a cancer that typically attacks the elderly, so the doctors are also somewhat encouraged that she is relatively young--33.

I'm just at a loss at the moment for how to even offer him comfort.
I haven't kept up with this thread -- my loss.

SJ, they will be in my thoughts and prayers without doubt.

Comfort comes in so many ways... even without really trying sometimes. The proof here is that you said he was a student many years ago, he is now your friend -- that says a lot about you and how you care for the friendship. There is comfort going on that you might not consider comfort but it's there. It doesn't need to be big and showy like some might think, the really good comfort is like a whisper. :rose:

I like the nic "Little Feet", that little one is so lucky to have fantastic parents. :rose:

Little Feet
Gesatation: 33 weeks:
Born: Sept 7th 7:10 pm
Weight: 1640gms (3lb.10oz)
Length: 40cm (15.7 in)
Sex: Male

Ok so I didn't drive, I was out-voted by Poss, I took the train and spent the night at her brothers place.
They started the induction at about 2 pm, LF was being constantly monitored although he was really annoying the midwives as he kept moving away from the monitor, making it extremely difficult for them to get a consistent reading. By about 6 Possy had been having contractions every 3 minutes or so, but the midwives had had enough of LFs antics, they couldn't tell whether the erratic readings were from him moving about or from foetal distress so they attached a monitor to his scalp to be absolutely certain.
At this stage Possy had not dilated at all :( . With the new monitor it didn't take long to realise that the contractions were starting to stress him out, at 6:30 the doctor said that he needed out now. If you have never seen a medical team swing into action for an emergency it is something to behold, I stepped out of the room for about 1 min (I figured I might not get the chance to go for quite awhile), when I left, there were two people in the room, when I came back there were about eight and they were transferring her to a gurney, removing her jewellery, explaining what was happening, getting consent forms signed and wheeling her out to the operating theatre and a heap of other stuff that I couldn't keep track of.
By 7:10 he was out and yelling his lungs off. :D
They finally found out where she had been bleeding from, a small part of the middle of the placenta had come away from the wall of the uterus, but the edges were still attached thereby obscuring it from view despite all the scans. The placenta itself was badly degraded and in a few more days the outcome would have been a whole lot worse.
Our little man will spend the next three/four weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, but he is doing extremely well, he is breathing on his own and did so right from the start. He has a short fuse according to the staff, getting most irate if he is not lying the way he wants. (No idea where he gets that from  )
Possy was there tonight giving Kangaroo Care both of them loved it.
There is so much more, but this little man is tired.

Awwwwwww... He is absolutely adorable, Quoll. My grandson was born at 32 weeks, and you'd never know it by looking at him now... he's 15 months old.

Hugs to the whole Quoll family on their latest addition! :rose: x 12

Aww, he's so teeny tiny....and adorable. I love babies. :)

Same here... the best kind are the ones you can give back to their mommy and daddy when you're done playing with/holding them!!!!

Congratulations!!!! I am very happy for you and your Family :rose: :rose:

Oh my gosh, you have me in tears here... He is absolutely adorable, quoll! This is making me do a happy dance for you and your family.

That kangaroo care is awesome. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that beats the feeling of holding your newborn infant against your chest, skin-to-skin. All those memories of doing it with my babies are flooding back.

My most heartfelt congratulations. :rose: :rose: :rose:

If this isn't nana-worthy, i don't know what is. :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Congrats, Q!

BTW, I'm living proof that weighing next to nothing at birth (32 weeks and 4 lbs or thereabouts) will not prevent one from growing up to be a successful wiseass later in life.

I concur. You'd never know it now but I was 2 months early and weighed 4 pounds or thereabouts.

Welcome Little Feet!

Congratulations to the Quolls...
Wishing you all love, health and happiness for a thousand years.
