So the past two days have been filled with an anticipation which was delightful. They have also been full of frustration at times.

If you are on a bit tighter budget than the restraints that gracie posted (nice stuff by the way, gracie!), you can do the same thing with chain or rope.

1. Measure your bed corner to corner (either / that way or \ that way, hell measure both for the X and average it out... *grin*
2. Measure the thickness of your mattress and add that twice to your \ measurement.
3. Have someone lie down spread-eagled in the middle of the mattress. Measure the wrist to corner and ankle to corner distance. Add about 8" for "adjustability" on either end.

4. Add all your measurements up and this is 1 of your 2 undermatress cross pieces. If you are using chain, that's it, head to your hardware store. If using rope, add about 12 more inches for "tie-ability" then head to the store.

5. Buy 2 pieces of chain or rope in the properly determined length, and while at the hardware store you will also need to buy 4 carabiners (spring loaded locking clips) for the 4 ends (and 2 - 3 screw links for the middle if using chains). If you spent more than $25.00 you went to the wrong hardware store! Head home.

6. Take your mattress off your box springs.

7. Find the center of each of your two cross pieces. Using the chain? connect 2 - 3 links of each cross piece to the other using the screw links, if using rope, tie a knot at the center. Connect your 4 end carabiner clips

8. Place the X restraint on top of the box springs, and put the matress back on top

9. You should now have 4 exposed lengths at each corner of the bed. Flip them up on top of the mattress, attach cuffs at ankles and wrists of your play partner... Enjoy!

I have a bed that has short posts on it. It was made in the 40s, when all beds were kind of ornate. I use those 4 pull on Ace knee bandages...the ones that help suport your knee, and have them securely tied to 4 lengths of rope.

I tie the other ends of those lengths of rope to the D-rings of my leather shackle restraints. The Ace bandages slip over the bed posts and I've got me a bound and helpless submissive spread eagle on my bed. The Ace bandage doesn't mare the bed's finish and, it's a quick thing to remove any evidence, in case someone vanilla gets inquisitive.
