September Film Challenge 🎬

Day 25: A film that inspired you
Okay, Mel Gibson is a bad human being. The historical accuracy begins and ends with "Scotland and England existed, and they did not agree." That said, I still fucking love this movie. The soundtrack is amazing, and it has one of the most inspiring, iconic lines in move history:

"I'm going to go start a fight."

Inspiration is such a wide word. I've never got some life changing inspiration from any movie I've seen.
But when I saw this one with my wife........the inspiration led straight to bed..... :devilish: :D

This movie was very... 👁 👁... Sex isn't just about getting off. Power dynamics, healing, love, etc... you get it. I was 22/23 when it came out.

And it was funny and dark. My two favorite things in a movie.

Goals: a guy to give me a bath and lay me on a very well groomed square of grass and well... please and thank you.

Oh, and James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal are fucking 🔥hawt🥵!!

Day 25: A film that inspired you
Ah, the 90s. The decade when the history's made up and the the details don't matter. Still love this movie, though.

I technically haven't posted a movie yet so I am going to just... put this here.... as a reminder that he made at least two historically inaccurate films. I think it is his brand. 🤣s-l1600.jpg

Inspiration...I don't find it in film often, at least not in a positive way. I would have an easier time picking a movie that inspired me to stay single but...Before Sunrise inspired me to look for a fleeting but profound connection that wasn't meant to last.
This like is for the film…. But ☹️for the rest

I can only agree. It is a great movie!

Day 25: A film that inspired you
I am an engineer. It's rare to watch a movie that shows the engineers to be the quiet heroes of the story. (Lt. Cdr. Montgomery Scott notwithstanding). This scene sums up my job for 40 years. They dump a pile of crap on your desk and say "We need a miracle. You have an hour."

Apollo 13, A square peg in a round hole (get the duct tape and 14ga. wire)

I agree, that really was an awesome scene. 🥰🥰🥰

Someone described the novel The Martian as written to people who thought that scene should have been the whole movie.

People like me.

The book was astounding. Mark Watney is the second greatest fictional nerd of all time (after Geordie LaForge).

And, never forget: "Houston, Be Advised: Rich Purnell is a Steely-Eyed Missile Man."

A few years after this was released, softball was introduced as an Olympic sport in 1996. I played softball so teenage me was obsessed with this movie. Also Geena Davis, are you fucking kidding me? 😍🔥

Awesome movie!
Have you seen the newer adaptation? (The Abbi Jacobson version.) I haven't seen it of course, because I haven't seen much of anything from the past decade or more (lol)... but I watched some 'making of' featurettes, and the casting looked fantastic. Nevertheless, the Geena Davis (mmm) version is still where my mind goes! Very inspiring, indeed. An excellent choice... for both teenage you, and for the current version!
