September Film Challenge 🎬

Jumping in, love this.

Day 1: A movie that reminds me of my childhood.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

Living in Germany near the Black Forest and when they say, "the Black Forest is on fire" age 4 me ran and told everyone in the house. I have a collection.

Day 2: The movie with the best opening scene
Bull Durham

Susan Sarandon as Annie Savoy comparing life and baseball. “Walt Whitman once said, ‘I see great things in baseball. It’s our game. The American game. It will repair our losses and be a blessing to us.’

Day 2 - Movie with a great opening scene
Anyone who has talked film with me for a couple minutes knows Kogonada is my favorite filmmaker. The opening sequence to After Yang, his second film, was completely unexpected, felt more like a Besson or Jeunet movie. But, it’s also perfect and I love it.

Day 2: The movie with the best opening scene

IDK, I'm not sure the Chevy Impala was ever the most popular car in California. The realism might not be realing but the tension is definitely tensioning so still a great opener. Also Ryan Gosling 🥵
This movie has been on my rewatch list for a while. Stupid unreliable streaming services

Bruce has his first meal
The way you worded that makes me realize, we've all done dumb things when we're hungry 😔 It was still wrong but if he hadn't eaten all day maybe that's just the shark equivalent of eating whatever's in the fridge at midnight.

It's on mine now too. I remember really liking it. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it on the apps.

Day 3: Favorite movie pre-1970

I already used my absolute fave last year (I can't rule out using again this year but not yet) so I'll go with Vampyr cos I just watched it recently and it was pretty great. Barely any dialogue, a fun little spooky movie with a happy ending. It's also been beautifully restored so watch it on Max if possible cos YouTube doesn't have that quality.
