Snippetsville: General Discussion

WSO,

Thanks dear, it is all messed up; my "pro" is gone for a week at the Harley festival. I need him badly, but he ain't around. He'll be back on the 6th or something like that; he'll owe me for watering his plants while he's gone.

Hugs,
Wantonica:rose:

We've had mention of the Harley festival on the evening news here... makes me itch to do some research actually.

I do recall a while back wanting to know about motorcycle helmet colours...

Alex, your pics remind me of the riverfront in Savannah, Georgia. Lovely place, hope to retire there, running a bed-and-breakfast in a haunted mansion. Perdita, you can come shag my guests. Woohoo!
Just let me know when, lovely. With or w/o shagging, a riverfront in Savannah and an old mansion sound delightful to me. I'll be a paying guest gladly.

hugs back, Perdita

Just in case anyone misses my signature line...

PierceStreet, we all have been putting in major efforts in various ways. Alex is to be congratulated on his extreme hard work in the background as you will all see once the first Issue is out. :D

Darn but I'm really excited today! :)

edited to add: I was remiss in saying thank you PierceStreet so, Thank You :rose:

Goody gumdrops! My first guest with 20 years advance reservation! I'm sincerely looking forward to the evenings on the porch...

Smiles,

Gee I always struggle with patience when I am waiting to see a story posted... This point in time is no exception. Sorry for sharing that, but oh boy I can't seem to settle to anything.

Feedback can be sent to each author via the links included in each Issue.

It can be also sent to the Snippettsville Group hotmail address. As soon as it's received there, I will either post it here or send it to specific authors if names are mentioned.

I am constantly checking the email for the SG and so far nothing has arrived. We are not considered an author until the first Issue is up.

just to add: Both myself and Alex have access to the SG profile and the SG hotmail account. Should either of us be unable to continue with the SG then the remaining person will notify all SG authors and another chosen to take our place.

Issue #1 is posted

Now we bite our fingernails for a while, to see how it's received. Good luck to us all.

Alex

A job well done, hearty thanks to Alex, Wild and everyone in the group.

What are the scores? How many views? I need to know. NOW.

Well I got one question answered anyway. How long is a Lit. page? Answer: Not less than 600 x 4words + two illustrations.

Gauche.

Issue #1

Gauche,

the Kiwi lady and I decided to turn voting off, because it didn't seem appropriate for four stories with different authors. The individual links are there for feedback to an author, and there's a link for group feedback, which I can't check because I've mislaid details of the e-mail account! I'll have to wait now until WSO is back online...

I can tell you that the first issue is showing 22 views as of five minutes ago, but then, it was showing 22 at 10:30 GMT this morning, too.

Alex

Edit: 372 views as at 15:07 GMT
449 views as at 15:45 GMT

We got an 'E'!

Guys and gals,

I just checked the bio link for the group, to make sure it was working. Laurel has given us the coveted 'E' for editor's choice.

I feel great!

Alex

PS:
The individual author links in the bio don't work at present. Cut-and-paste will be necessary. We may need to take this up with Laurel, or perhaps just accept a list of authors.

Alex and WSO:

This is wonderful, I'm so glad I joined. Muchissimas gracias to you both.

Alex, the footnote painting is lovely, puts me in a mood, a good one.

Bravi, bravi!! Perdita :rose:  :rose:

Re: Alex and WSO:

Perdita,

thanks for the kind words. I certainly appreciate them and I'm sure wildsweetone will, too.

I'm glad you like it, but I'm afraid it's a photograph. Would that I could paint like that!

It's a little corner of the English Lake District standing in for our Green Lake. My wife and I will be attending a wedding about two miles from this spot later in September.

Alex

PS: Issue #1 views now at 1819, as at 21:00 GMT. Only one feedback as yet, but that was favourable. [I'm offline until tomorrow now]

wow 'she' sure looks grand :)

Views at 4.10pm NZ time = 1819 :)

I have this really big grin and i'm having to hide it from my family! lol

Gosh it looks wonderful. Well done all of us! :)

An 'E'!!! I didn't foresee that one!

Both the artwork and the stories look balanced to me.

Another reason for having no voting is that Snippettsville should not be an option for those authors wishing to 'cash in quick' for any of the Survivor stories. We all know how much work has gone into creating this whole project and frankly, I didn't want authors who want a quick point for contests to use our township.

I've had no chance at this point to check the emails - time is short today. Will look tomorrow and post anything we have into this thread, being careful not to quote any names mentioned, publically.

God I'm so proud of us all. :)

*hugs and kisses and roses all around*

Only two feedback so far

The second one is a tad laconic -

"not bad; keep going."

At least we have approval!

The first was good - I think we struck a nerve -

"Great stuff! Looking forward to Issue #2. Snippettsville reminds me of a little
town of 369 people where I once resided in upstate NY."

Alex

This is just me, but I don't want to read the bad, or even laconic, feedback, just the good news.

Perdita

Don't Panic! We're still here

We know it's been quiet, but WSO and I have been working on issue 2 and we're also working on trying to improve the editing structure. More on that soon.

We're also working on producing an 'info sheet' that can be e-mailed to possible new recruits.

We have had over 5500 views on the first issue. A little disappointing, as has been the feedback, but 'great oaks from little acorns grow' and it's early days yet.

More soon...

Alex

Community College

Not discussed yet, PS. If you want to use it and it could be useful to others, add it to the Settings Database, please, with a suitable indication of where it is located.

Alex

PierceStreet,

For the benefit of those of us who do not live in the USA can you explain what a Community College is -
where it fits into the education structure.
The age of the students.
etc.

Also - I do not know if you noticed but Math Girl "Thje Chemistry Teacher" there is a Junior High.
